War between Venezuela and Columbia
On Sunday Recliner Commentaries reported that Hugo Chavez of Venezuela is sending 10 tank batallions to the border of Columbia. Fox News is now reporting that Venezuela is also sending ships, and that Equador is sending troops to their border with Columbia as well.
There are also reports that when Venezuela made their raid on a FARC terrorist camp in Equador, they discovered documents on a laptop computer connecting FARC with Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. Of course Chavez says the documents were all fabricated and that Columbia just wants to start a war.
In other words, Chavez is mobilizing his air force while sending tanks, troops, and warships towards Columbia, and then blaming Columbia for wanting to start a war! So when Chavez says the documents are fradulent, I think his crediblity is shot. Sounds to me like his hands have been caught in the proverbial cookie jar.
UPDATE: For a facinating analysis of what is really going on between Columbia and Venezeuela, read the article by Austin Bay on Townhall.
UPDATE 2: FoxNews is reporting this morning (March 6) that the President of Columbia is not planning to mobilize in response to the Venezeuela's military buildup. Contrary to Chavez, it doesn't sound to me like Columbia is the one that wants to start a war.
UPDATE3: Chavez first said it was Columbia pushing for war but when Columbia wouldn't play along (refusing to respond to Chavez' buildup), Chavez is now blaming the United States for pushing for war! But we're not the ones with 10 tank batallians on the Venezuela/Columbia border. How can you tell when Chavez is lying? Answer: When his lips are moving.

Saber rattling in Venezuela
Marxist FARC rebels have been firing across the border from Ecuador into Columbia so yesterday, Columbian troops responded by attacking a FARC jungle camp in Ecuador. In the process they "killed Raul Reyes, a leader of Marxist FARC rebels."
According to the Intelligence Encyclopedia, "FARC is responsible for bombings, murder, kidnapping, extortion, hijacking, as well as guerrilla and conventional military action against Colombian political, military, and economic targets." They are also involved in illegal drug trafficing and have kidnapped Americans.
Today, siding with FARC, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez withdrew his diplomats from Columbia, sent 10 tank battalions to the Columbian border and mobilized his air force (Washington Post).
This is the same Hugo Chavez, by the way, that has been supported by numerous Democrats and Hollywood Leftists.

Venezuela ties to e-voting machines?
"The federal government is investigating the takeover last year of a leading American manufacturer of electronic voting systems by a small software company that has been linked to the leftist Venezuelan government of President Hugo Chávez."
