Fred Thompson dishes out some straight talk on Saudi Arabia:
“It’s not in the United States’ long-term interest to go hat in hand begging people to do things that in the end we know they’re not going to do,”
I agree. See Michelle Malkin.

Our Saudi friends
According to Fox and Friends this morning, our "friends" Saudi Arabia have just released 1,500 al Qaeda prisoners! But don't worry. The Saudis made them promise not to practice Jihad......in Saudi Arabia!
It's a good thing that we have other good "friends", like Russia, isn't it? When is our government going to wake up and re-evaluate our "friendship" with some of these countries?

Women and the internet
From the country that denies women the right to drive, now comes word that "Two Saudi clerics issued a fatwa forbidding women from accessing the Internet without the presence of a male guide" (Memri).
Yeah, ya gotta watch those women--they're just not smart enought to avoid all the dangers of the internet!
(In case there is any doubt, this last sentence is dripping with sarcasm!).

Nuclear Saudi Arabia
The following are excerpts of “an article published in the Saudi daily Al-Iqtisadiyya, titled "Now Is the Time to Return to the Saudi Nuclear Reactor,”
"Two months ago Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Sa'ud Al-Faisal visited Iran and declared that international law gives Iran the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. [Likewise,] last month foreign ministers of Islamic countries met in Azerbaijan and declared that Iran has the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes."
"At present, in light of current events in the region, the time has come to renew the Saudi nuclear program. This need [derives] from the necessity for new and cheap energy sources, since countries have collapsed because they did not have cheap energy like nuclear energy. It seems that this is the appropriate time to return to the subject of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, especially as the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty supports the existence of nuclear energy programs for peaceful purposes in member nations...” (MEMRI)."
Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia—Imagine a world in which numerous Islamic dictatorships have nuclear weapons. Adding nuclear weapons to their enormous financial resources will give them power that will make Nazi Germany look anemic by comparison.
