School teacher clubbed to death

Christianah Oluwatoyin was dragged out of the principal’s office and clubbed on the side of the head. With blood pouring from the wound, the principal tried to save her but students dragged her outside, clubbed her to death and then burned her body. By the time it was all over, the students had also burned a car, a motorcycle, the school library and other school buildings.

What horrible crime had Ms. Oluwatoyin committed?

She was a Christian teacher in a predominantly Muslim school in Nigeria. She had collected papers, books and bags from students just before an exam to prevent cheating. While returning to the front of the class Ms. Oluwatoyin accidently dropped the material. One of the girls started crying, saying that her Qur’an was in a bag that had been dropped.

And for that Ms. Oluwatoyin was beaten to death.

As it turns out, the Qur’an was never found in any of the bags. Ms. Qluwatoyin is survived by two children. You can read the rest at Compass Direct.

Muslim "tolerance" in Nigeria

LAFIA, Nigeria, January 15 (Compass Direct News) – As soon as Christians in
this capital city of Nasarawa state tried to rebuild a Reformed Church building
that Muslims burned down two years ago, more than 200 Islamists attacked the
workers.

The rebuilding came to a halt, and the Nasarawa state government
subsequently banned reconstruction of the facility. The church had been planted
more than a century ago by missionaries of the Dutch Reformed Church of South
Africa under the auspices of the then-Sudan United Mission, headed by German
missionary Dr. Karl Kunn.

“I personally witnessed the attack on the workers at the reconstruction
site of the church,” said the Rev. Jerry Modibo, chairman of the Christian
Association of Nigeria (CAN), Nasarawa state chapter. “The Muslims were
chanting, ‘Death to Christians, death to infidels. This town is for Muslims, we
don’t want Christians here."
