"Well-intentioned utopians"

"Conservatives who will not vote for McCain are well-intentioned utopians." So says radio talk show host Dennis Prager. If you are conservative and need more reasons to support John McCain, read Mr. Prager's article, "Why I support John McCain."

Barack Obama or John McCain?

If you’re still not sure of the difference between John McCain and Barack Obama, please take the time to read the excellent overview by Hugh Hewitt. I wish I could make this article required reading for everyone who plans to vote in November.

Barack Obama and equal pay

According to CNSNews, last week In Albuquerque, N.M. Barack Obama was speaking about his committment to women saying,
"It starts with equal pay. Sixty-two percent of working women in America earn half or more than of their family's income. But women still earn 77 cents for every dollar earned by men in 2008. You'd think that Washington would be united it its determination to fight for equal pay."
The article pointed out, however, that:
While Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has vowed to make pay equity for women a top priority if elected president, an analysis of his Senate staff shows that women are outnumbered and out-paid by men. That is in contrast to Republican presidential candidate John McCain's Senate office, where women, for the most part, out-rank and are paid more than men.
I ask again: Why would anyone believe anything Barack Obama says?

An appeal to Evangelical Christians

I’m appealing only to Evangelical Christians today. It seems to me that…

Those who think America is to blame for the world’s evil

Those who place the earth or animals on the same level of importance as people

Those who want to force Israel to make endless concessions to the terrorists sworn to kill them

Those who think conservative Christians are as bad as Muslim fundamentalists

Those who support the use of tax-payers’ money for anti-Christian hate “art” like a crucifix dipped in urine or the virgin Mary spattered with elephant dung

Those who fought to “enable” drug addicts by providing them with fresh needles

Those who support illegal behavior like mayors convicted of drug use Congresswomen who strike Capital Hill policemen, or Congressmen who hide illegally obtained money in their freezer

Those who oppose freedom of speech when they deem such speech to be politically incorrect

Those who oppose freedom of speech by disrupting speakers with whom they disagree

Those who fought to remove the Ten Commandments from courthouses

Those who fought to remove manger scenes from city squares and parks

Those who fought to keep Gideon Bibles from being distributed near public schools (even with parental consent)

Those who fought to remove Jesus from public school Christmas programs

Those who use the legal system to keep students from hearing that the world may have come into existence by design

Those who ran a Catholic adoption agency out of business simply because the agency wouldn’t adopt to homosexual couples

Those who fight against the Boy Scout’s right to use parks and other public places

Those who fight against student’s free speech right to bear witness to their faith at graduation ceremonies

Those who fight against military chaplains’ rights to pray “in Jesus’ name”

Those who fight to remove crosses from government parks and cemeteries

Those who fight to remove all signs of our nation’s Christian heritage from the public square and public schools, but are absolutely silent when tax money is used to support Islam in public schools

Those who fight to allow cross-dressing men to use your wives’ and daughters’ restrooms

Those who fight to make Christian preaching on homosexuality a hate crime, but turn a blind eye to the egregious anti-Christian hate-mongering by various homosexual groups

Those who use the force of law to compel religious organizations to hire people who behave in ways that their religion holds to be immoral

Those who use the force of law to compel private business owners to provide services that violate their religious convictions

Those who fight to force the country to accept same-sex marriage even above the objections of voters

Those who oppose regulation even of hardcore pornography like child pornography and the pornographic depiction of the torture of women

Those who oppose blocking pornography from public library computers that are accessible to children

Those who fight against the teaching of abstinence but promote teaching children how to use condoms

Those who support teaching public school children that dangerous, same-sex relationships are perfectly acceptable behavior, and that all who disagree are bigots

Those who oppose homeschooling or vouchers in their attempt keep your children from escaping those public schools that are educationally sub-standard, or exhibit anti-Christian bigotry/indoctrination, or are drug infested, or are just plain violent

Those who fight for the “right” to kill unborn babies—even unborn babies who are partially born…

Those who support these issues are almost always Democrats! Of course, not all Democrats agree with all of the points above, but if you asked people in an audience to raise their hand if they support any one of these issues, there is little doubt that the overwhelming majority of “those” in each case would be Democrats!

I’m not suggesting that the Republican Party is the solution to our problems. Evangelicals know that the underlying problem is spiritual and the only real solution would be something like another Great Awakening.

But in our national descent into decadence, Barack Obama and the Democrats will lead us into a freefall whereas John McCain and the Republicans are at least something of a parachute to slow the decline…or, if you prefer, salt to slow the decay (Matthew 5:13).

That being the case, I am at a loss to understand how Evangelical Christians can vote Democrat with a clear conscience. If it is because you think Democrats are more socially compassionate or environmentally minded, then come over from the dark side and help make the Republicans more compassionate and environmentally minded. But please, please, don’t give your support to a party that has been taken over by so many who are, at their core, both immoral and anti- Christian.

Supreme Court and child rape

John McCain reacted today on the Supreme Court ruling that saved the life of a brutal child rapist:
"As a father, I believe there is no more sacred responsibility in American society than that of protecting the innocence of our children. I have spent over twenty-five years in Congress fighting for stronger criminal sentences for those who exploit and harm our children. Today’s Supreme Court ruling is an assault on law enforcement’s efforts to punish these heinous felons for the most despicable crime. That there is a judge anywhere in America who does not believe that the rape of a child represents the most heinous of crimes, which is deserving of the most serious of punishments, is profoundly disturbing" (Townhall).

No word yet from Barack Obama

UPDATE: Even Barack Obama condemns this horrendous decision! (WSJ, Hat tip: Alcamadus).

Citizens McCain and Obama

Hmmm, the Left made a big deal out of whether John McCain was a U.S. citizen (and rightly so), but now Barack Obama refuses to release his own birth certificate. Why is that? See Michelle Malkin.

Thomas Sowell and the election

Thomas Sowell has a remarkable way of cutting through all the debris and focusing on what really matters in the upcoming election. If you don’t read anything else today, please read his short but outstanding article in Townhall .

(Is it too late to draft Thomas Sowell for President?)

Janice Rogers Brown for Vice President?

Has John McCain considered Justice Janice Rogers Brown as a vice president possibility? As a Christian who is politically conservative, Ms. Brown may reach right wing Republicans who, like me, are not very excited about John McCain.

Vice President Sarah Palin?

According to Wizbang, via the Weekly Standard and Hot Air, the McCain vice presidential search team is talking to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Rod Parsley and John McCain

The news this morning is that John McCain has now repudiated another Evangelical pastor: Rod Parsley. Almost everything I know about Rod Parsley would fit comfortably in a thimble, but according to ABC News, Parsley called Islam, “the mouthpiece of a conspiracy of spiritual evil,” and that Islam is an “anti-Christ religion that intends through violence to conquer the world.”

In other words, Rod Parsley told the truth and because it was inconvenient to the McCain campaign, McCain threw him under the bus. While there are peaceful Muslims, Islam is not a peaceful religion. America is not well served by covering up the truth in the name of political correctness or campaign expediency.

McCain should be careful lest in November Evangelicals decide to stay home leaving Obama to become president.

Edwards on bringing America together

When John Edwards endorced Obama for president he said, there is one man who knows how to bring America together and that is Barack Obama. Maybe Edwards was thinking that Obama would be able to bring the far Left together because it is an undeniable fact that Obama will not bring America together!

To the dismay of many Republicans, it is actually John McCain who has the track record of working with members of the other party. McCain has even promised to include Democrats in his administration! In fact, I think some of us on the right are beginning to wonder whether we actually have three Democrats running for President!

By contrast, Barack Obama is a far Left political ideologue who in real life, will not bring Americans together but will make the division even worse than it is now. If you really want a compromise candidate, there is only one choice: John McCain.

100 years in Iraq?

Chris Wallace does a good job showing how blatantly dishonest Howard Dean and the DNC are in their smear ads against John McCain--especially the ad about being in Iraq for 100 years.

Unlike many Americans, I have no problem with attack ads, but at least have the integrity (on both sides) to be honest about your attacks! By all means, feel free to disagree with John McCain. But disagree with what he actually says--not some lies fabricated by airing clips in which his statements have been cut off in mid-sentence! (see the video on Hot Air).

Obama and the passport files

The passport files of McCain, Clinton and Obama were all breached by State Department contract employees. Of the three candidates, Obama protested most loudly and angrily.

There is now word, however, that one of the contract workers works for a company headed by an advisor to Barack Obama! (LGF).

That might mean nothing. It might mean everything. It certainly warrants further investigation.

McCain's passport file

Now we find out that McCain's passport file was accessed also (Mercury News).

Wins for Hillary and McCain

Last night was a big night politically. Hillary won the primaries in Rhode Island, Ohio and Texas and is still in the race. John McCain clinched the Republican nomination for President and Mike Huckabee has bowed out, giving his support to McCain.

McCain and a female lobbyist

The New York Times reported this morning that eight years ago John McCain’s staff became concerned that his relationship with a female lobbyist was becoming romantic so they took steps to stop it.

Both McCain and the lobbyist have denied any such relationship. On Fox News this morning, Rick Davis, McCain’s campaign manager at the time said the story is totally false. Carl Cameron at Fox News said that Fox investigated the story at the time and could find no one, on or off the record, who could back up the reports.

On the other hand, a search of the New York Times archive for Larry Sinclair produced no articles at all. Larry Sinclair is the man who says he took drugs and had sex with Barack Obama about eight years ago and is now going to court to fight harassment by Obama’s staff.

So the New York Times finds it newsworthy to report anonymous sources alleging suspicions of third parties regarding a possible relationship between McCain and a lobbyist which both parties deny. But they neglect to report actual allegations by someone who says he personally had sex and took drugs with Obama, even though Obama has had a past history of drug abuse and the matter is going to court!

Don't tell me there's no left-wing bias at the New York Times! Either investigate both stories or ignore both stories but don't report one and ignore the other.

McCain and bombing Iran

A few days ago John McCain was asked about Iran upon which he broke out with a joking parody of “Barbara Ann,” the famous Beach Boy’s song. He changed the words to “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. I find it disturbing that the American Left (Like MoveOn.Org) seems more offended by McCain’s little joke than they were about the Iranian president’s serious threats to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

Anyway, as far as I know McCain didn’t finish the song so although I have virtually no songwriting ability, I thought I’d help him out and give it a shot. So with apologies to the Beach Boys, here goes:

Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran
Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, Oh bomb Iraaan
Please take a staaand and Bomb Iraaan.

They’ve been a mocking and cajoling
Blocking and concealing
Bomb Iran bomb, bomb,
Bomb, bomb Iran.

Tried to talk to France
They were in a trance
Russia said no chance
And the UN wouldn’t dance

So bomb Iran, bomb, bomb,
Bomb Iraaan.
Oh take a staaand,
And bomb Iraaan.

They’ve been a mocking and cajoling
Blocking and concealing
Bomb Iran bomb, bomb,
Bomb, bomb Iran.

Tried talking to
All their leaders who
Spit right in our face
And I knew that wouldn’t do

So bomb Iran, bomb, bomb,
Bomb Iraaan.
Oh take a staaand,
And bomb Iraaan.

They’ve been a mocking and cajoling
Blocking and concealing
Bomb Iran bomb, bomb,
Bomb, bomb Iran.

(Don’t worry, I won’t quit my day job). Actually this doesn’t really describe my attitude toward Iran. I think there are a lot of good, decent people in Iran who hate their government almost as much as the American Left hates George Bush (if that’s possible). We should do everything possible to help the Iranian people overthrow their tyrannical government but if that fails, we simply must do something about Iran before they have nuclear weapons because by that time, Iran will make Nazi Germany look almost weak and merciful by comparison. We should have learned back then that appeasement simply does not work.

McCain: Bomb bomb Iran

On the campaign trail recently John McCain was asked "if an attack on Iran was in the works." He responded in song, changing the words to the old Beach Boys song, "Ba ba ba ba Barbara Ann" to "Bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran" (Drudge Report).

I wasn't aware that John McCain had such a sense of humor.
