Hezbollah rearming

According to a recent article in the Toronto Star, Hezbollah continues to rearm in Lebanon:

Hezbollah openly says its fighters have spent the last seven months preparing
for another major battle with Israel by regrouping and amassing some 33,000
missiles.

"We in the resistance have weapons, and we openly declare that we have weapons, that we are completing our preparedness for a greater and more dangerous stage," Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said in a televised address last month.

What's more, the Israeli military has said in recent weeks it has intelligence that Hezbollah is continuing to smuggle Iranian-supplied weapons across the Syrian border into Lebanon.
Meanwhile the Lebanese government, the United Nations and the world community, like the proverbial "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" monkeys, pretend that nothing is going on.

Hezbollah arming, the world silent

Bombs exploded in two minibuses in Beirut Lebanon yesterday. According to YaLibnan news from Lebanon:

The buses that were attacked originated in the hometown of Lebanese Defense
Minister Elias Murr, who on Feb. 8 seized a truckload of explosives belonging to
Hezbollah containing more than 120 mortars, Katyusha rockets and scores of
mortar shell cases. Murr's refusal to return the weapons to Hezbollah, which was
transporting them from the Bekaa Valley to stockpile in Beirut's
Shiite-controlled southern suburb, was an embarrassment for Hezbollah's
leadership.

We are hearing more and more reports of arms pouring into Lebanon in support of Hezbollah. Where is the United Nations? Where is the main stream media? Where is the world community? Once again the world sits silently by until Hezbollah feels strong enough to attack Israel, and then, when Israel defends itself, the world will again vent its rage at Israel!

Hezbollah buildup in Lebanon

The Associated Press is reporting that:

Israel's defense minister on Wednesday accused Syria of allowing the
rearmament of Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon and said Israel has the right to
act "forcefully" against the Shiite militia to counter the threat.Defense
Minister Amir Peretz's comments came days after Israel said it discovered four
bombs in northern Israel recently planted by Hezbollah guerrillas. The Israeli
claim, denied by Hezbollah, immediately raised tensions along the volatile
border.

With all the U.N.'s self-righteous indignation and cries for peace during last summer's war, I'm wondering what the United Nations is doing to stop Hezbollah's military buildup now?

If Israel has to fight Hezbollah again, they should give non-Hezbollah-supporting residents fair warning to move out of southern Lebanon, and then take off the kid gloves this time.

Hezbollah rearming

According to an article in today Jerusalem Post, "Military Intelligence head Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin announced Tuesday that Hizbullah was rebuilding itself and rearming, and that UNIFIL forces were making no effort to disarm the terror group."

Of course it is no surprise that the United Nations sits on its hands and does nothing, but where are all the peace advocates and anti-war protesters now? Why isn't the news media covering this? Surely people must realize that if the international community continues to allow Hezbollah military buildup it is only a matter of time before another war breaks out.

Hezbollah re-arms in Lebanon

Remember last summer how the United Nations was going to reinforce its presence in Lebanon to keep the peace? What the United Nations actually did was, in effect, to stop Israel's pounding of Hezbollah so Hezbollah could re-arm for another day. Terrorism expert Daniel Pipes posted this to his website:

"Today comes a report by Uzi Mahnaimi in the Sunday Times (London), 'Hezbollah's missiles back in Lebanon,' that Hizbullah's forces are back in south Lebanon and stronger than ever. He quotes an Israeli intelligence officer. 'Since the ceasefire, additional rockets, weapons and military equipment have reached Hezbollah. We assume they now have about 20,000 rockets of all ranges — a bit more than they had before July 12." In a recent interview with Al-Manar, Hizbullah's television station, Hassan Nasrallah confirmed the Israeli estimate, claiming Hizbullah now possesses at least 30,000 rockets."

"Israeli military intelligence has warned the government that renewed fighting with Hezbollah, which it regards as a terrorist organisation, should be expected as early as next spring. In response, Israeli forces have taken emergency action. They have postponed a plan to reduce the length of national service — currently 36 months for men and about 24 months for women — and are stepping up production of better armoured tanks. They are also grouping all special forces into a single new division and are developing laser technology, jointly with the United States, to shoot down Hezbollah's rockets."

Hezbollah rally

Today, the Washington Times reported that an estimated 800,000 protesters (Hezbollah says one million) turned out for a Hezbollah-organized rally in Beruit. The rally was intended by Hezbollah to topple Lebanon's democratic government, and replace it with Syria's terrorist puppet, Hezbollah.

800,000 protestors is 17.7% of that country's total population of 4,509,678. To give some idea of the magnitude of this rally: If the same percentage of Americans turned out to support the replacing of America's democracy with a terrorist government, 53 million people would descend on Washington!

To drive the point home further: Only 60% of Lebanon's population is Muslim. This means that nearly one out of every three Muslims in Lebanon turned out to support terrorists (And Lebanon is probably one of the more moderate Muslim countries in the Middle East)!

Tell me again about how terrorist-supporting Muslims are just a tiny minority.

"Hezbollah sought war with Israel"

Aljazeera is reporting today that "Ahmed Abul Gheit, Egypt's foreign minister, said that Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah's leader, sought war with Israel to foil plans by the Lebanese government to disarm the group."

The re-arming of Hezbollah

According to Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, the re-arming of Hezbollah has already begun--once again, right unding the nose of the U.N. See the Counterterrorism Blog. Syria, of course, denies the allegations (UPI), which is exactly what we would expect from a nation that supports terrorists.

Hezbollah's propaganda exposed

Hezbollah's propaganda exposed.

The U.N. and Hezbollah

An article just published in The Weekly Standard alleges that UNIFIL (United Nations Forces in Lebanon) regularly published current information about Israeli troop movements on its website during the recent war. It was no secret that UNIFIL passively allowed the military buildup of Hezbollah in southern lebanon in violation of U.N. resolutions, but if The Weekly Standard allegation is true, the U.N. was actively assisting Hezbollah terrorists in the war!

When will we realize that the U.N. is actually part of the problem? Yesterday I e-mailed my senator asking for an investigation. Please consider doing the same

Hezbollah, Iran and Nazi Germany

From Lebanon, to Syria, to Iran, Muslim leaders across the Middle East are publicly and enthusiastically crowing over their imagined victory over Israel. Meanwhile Hezbollah, who, as the puppet of Iran, instigated this whole war and who housed their weapons and military centers among Lebanese civilians in are now providing aid to Lebanese families in an effort to look like the good guys. Already, Lebanese women are naming their babies after Hezbollah leader, Nasrallah.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Saniora and Hezbollah leader Nasrallah “reportedly reached a deal” that would allow Hezbollah to keep its weapons as long as they didn’t show them publicly (isn’t that what they were doing before the war broke out?). And U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan said on TV that “dismantling Hizbullah is not the direct mandate of the U.N.” (Jerusalem Post).

All this in spite of the fact that U.N. Resolution 1701 specifically requires “the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon so that…there will be no weapons or authority in Lebanon other than that of the Lebanese state.” Not only that, but U.N. “peacekeepers” may not be in place for up to a year!

The ink is barely dry on U.N. Resolution 1701 and the U.N. is already back to its corrupt, irresponsible ways, and Resolution 1701 doesn’t appear to be worth the paper it was printed on.

I think Israel needs to go back and finish the job on the Iranian puppet, Hezbollah, and the U.S. needs to start positioning warships off Iran in case another “shock and awe” is needed. Iran is Nazi Germany all over again. The longer we longer we stick our head in the sand hoping it will go away, the more endangered western civilization becomes.

Iran, Hezbollah, Lebanon and ceasefire

The Lebanese government was scheduled to meet today to discuss plans to move their army into Southern Lebanon in accordance with the U.N. ceasefire. Suddenly, without explanation, the meeting was called off. According to DEBKAfile, the meeting was cancelled because Hezbollah, taking orders from Iran, announced that they would not allow Lebanese forces to be deployed in Southern Lebanon as previously agreed (DEBKAfile).

Inside Hezbollah

A recent story in the Guardian gives an inside look into Hezbollah. Excerpts appear below. How do you negotiate with people who have been trained from childhood to hate the west and to embrace martyrdom?

"Inside a well-furnished apartment in a village on the outskirts of Tyre, with shelves of books piled from floor to ceiling, a black turbaned cleric and three men sit sipping bitter coffee. By the door is a pile of Kalashnikovs and ammunition boxes; handguns are tucked into the men's trousers. The four are Hizbullah fighters, waiting for the Israelis."

"We don't take anyone who knocks at our door and says 'I want to join'. We raise our fighters. We take them when they are young kids and raise them to become Hizbullah fighters. Every fighter we have believes that the ultimate form of being is martyrdom."

"He and his fellow fighters have been preparing for the latest conflict with the Israelis for years and he acknowledges the support received from Iran."

"If they want to kill Hizbullah they have to kill every Shia in the south of Lebanon."

"And even when the battle with the Israelis is over, he adds menacingly, Hizbullah will have other battles to fight. The real battle is after the end of this war. We will have to settle score with the Lebanese politicians. We also have the best security and intelligence apparatus in this country, and we can reach any of those people who are speaking against us now. Let's finish with the Israelis and then we will settle scores later."

Lebanon in bed with Hezbollah?

On July 21 I asked why we should think that the Lebanese government ever had a serious interest in controlling Hezbollah. Today, Michelle Malkin linked to a MEMRI video clip of Hezbollah leader Nasrallah claiming that he spoke to the main political leaders in Lebanon about abducting Israeli soldiers.

Usually I wouldn't believe a word Nasrallah had to say but in this case I find no reason not to believe him. In the absence of any denial by the Lebanese government (and anti-Hezbollah actions to back up their denial) why shouldn't the world community assume that the Lebanese government and Hezbollah are in bed together?

Hezbollah rejects cease-fire

According to Ynet news, A senior Hezbollah official has rejected Kofi Annan's call for a cease-fire.

Is anyone surprised?

Hezbollah, a proxy for Lebanon?

I heard it again this morning. Ambassador Dennis Ross, former U.S. envoy to the Middle East, said that Lebanon was unable to control Hezbollah. Virtually every news story I’ve ever heard on this subject seems to imply that Hezbollah is an unwanted parasite within Lebanon--a parasite which the Lebanese government is powerless to control.

I’m not sure I understand why we think that the Lebanese government ever had a serious interest in controlling Hezbollah. If the Lebanese government wanted to control Hezbollah, why didn’t they ask for help in stopping Hezbollah’s military buildup along the border of Israel? This buildup didn’t happen overnight, it was in violation of U.N. resolutions, and it wouldn’t exactly take a rocket scientist to see where that would lead.

If the Lebanese government really wanted to control Hezbollah, why are they now coming down on Hezbollah’s side against Israel? Think about it. If the Lebanese government were to help Israel destroy Hezbollah, Lebanon may finally be able to get rid of their Hezbollah parasite—if Hezbollah is really a parasite—and live in peace with Israel. By siding with Hezbollah, the best Lebanon can hope for is a cease-fire with Israel (assuming we avoid world war III), allowing Hezbollah to re-arm and begin the cycle all over again. Yet the president of Lebanon has come down on the side of Hezbollah and both a Lebanese ambassador and the Defense Minister are actually threatening to use Lebanon's army on Hezbollah' side.

So why do we think that the Lebanese government ever really wanted to control Hezbollah in the first place? There may be a very good answer to this. I’d just like to know what it is.

Hezbollah and the PCUSA

Let’s play “name that group.” What group is responsible for slaughtering 241 Americans in Lebanon, 19 Americans in the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, and dozens, if not hundreds of other people around the world? If you said Hezbollah, you move up to the next round.

What group sent a delegation to Lebanon a few weeks ago, praising Hezbollah and undermining America’s government? If you said, the Presbyterian Church USA, you win and move up to our bonus round.

Bonus question: What is the word for “adhering to [America’s] enemies, giving them aid and comfort?” If you said, “Treason,” congratulations, you get a free link to our Constitution in which that definition is found (Article 3, section 3).

Tragically, the fact a liberal church like the PCUSA would add legitimacy to a terrorist group is not much of a surprise. The real mystery is why so many Americans continue to attend and financially support a church like this (ABC News, FreeRepublic, Dhimmi Watch, Jerusalem Post).
