Remember James “Yousef” Yee? He is a Muslim and former Army chaplain who was “charged with espionage while serving at Gitmo.” He was “caught returning to the U.S. with maps of Gitmo prison facilities, among other classified materials, and was arrested at a U.S. airport. Two of his Muslim cronies at Gitmo were convicted of stealing or mishandling classified documents. The case against Yousef Yee was dropped to protect national security.
It turns out that Yousef Yee is now a Barack Obama delegate from Washington State! (And I thought nothing could shock me any more)! Read the story at Jihad Watch.

Ahmed doesn't want to go!
Ahmed Belbacha can finally go home from Guantanamo Bay! Must be one of the happiest days of his life, wouldn't you think?
I guess not. Ahmed has filed a motion in the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington DC to allow him to stay at Guantanamo Bay. It turns out that his treatment in the American prison is better than he may receive if he goes home to Algeria (TimesOnline).
I wish all those who raised so much stink over America's mistreatment of terrorists at Guantanamo Bay would devote even half as much effort toward ending the torture and atrocities that regularly occur in many countries around the world.

Sharia law in practice
According to a recent article by Associated Press, the Saudi Arabian version of Sharia law apparently gives judges “complete discretion to set sentences, except in cases where Sharia outlines a punishment, such as capital crimes.” A rapist, for example, could receive anything from no sentence at all to death depending on the whim of the judge.
The article describes the case of some men who gang raped a woman and received 1 to 4 years in prison plus 80 to 1000 lashes (The lashes are usually administered 50 at a time over a period of days—The word “torture” comes to mind). But then, in a ruling that defies explanation, the 19 year old female victim of the rape was sentenced to receive 90 lashes just for being in a car with a male friend when the rapists attacked them. In another case a judge sentenced men to 300 lashes and 1 to 2 years in prison for raping a 12 year old boy.
Saudi Arabia, of course, is not the only Muslim country to administer such harsh punishments (and in some cases, the interrogation process may be worse than the sentence!). I must admit that 1000 lashes for rapists or child molesters sounds like an entirely appropriate penalty, but it seems a bit hypocritical for Muslim countries to condemn the United States for our treatment of terrorists at Guantanamo Bay, when some of these Muslim countries treat their own citizens so much worse by comparison.

More torture at Gitmo
Will the torture never stop?! News reports are now coming out of Gitmo that prisoners are being mistreated again. No, bamboo shoots are not being rammed under their fingernails. Electric prods are not being applied to their genitals. Worse! They are being over-fed and are actually gaining weight! (gasp)!
Human rights groups claim that they are not getting enough exercise but those who behave themselves have access to "treadmills, stationary bikes and other fitness equipment" (AP)

Abuses at Guantanamo Bay
The story about the abuse of guards was covered Hannity and Colmes tonight. I couldn't believe my ears! Liberal Alan Colmes was actually blaming America and the Bush administration for that fact that Gitmo prisoners abuse American guards! He was arguing that if the prisoners are animals its because we made them that way! He had no words of condemnation for the prisoners at all!
For Mr. Colmes remarks to be true, he would have to know for a fact that everyone who abused U.S. guards at Gitmo was once tortured by Americans. The fact is that he doesn't know this--the very idea is absurd. Liberals scream bloody murder if we challenge their patriotism but honestly, I don't know how to interpret his statements other anti-American and pro-al Qaeda.

More abuses revealed at Guantanamo Bay
In a news report released earlier this afternoon, an Associated Press article summarizes the contents of documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act regarding Guantanamo Bay.
In literally hundreds of incidents, men and women were head-butted, punched, assaulted, stabbed with eating utensils, had faces and eyes scratched, and were threatened with death. Women are routinely grabbed, called “bitches” and harassed with references to their breasts or genitalia.
No, this is not what guards are doing to prisoners---it’s what prisoners are doing to guards! Prisoners use anything they can get their hands on to attack guards—rocks, plates, cleaning brushes, radios, even rust. Prisoners break their sinks and toilets in order to use the broken pieces and pipes to assault guards. Prisoners break their own fans in order to use the blades as machetes and the poles as battering rams. Guards have been spat upon so often that they now have to wear face shields—one prisoner reached under a guard’s face shield in an apparent effort to gouge out his eyes. Guards are also doused by “cocktails’ of feces, urine, vomit, and sperm collected in meal cups by the prisoners.” In one case prisoners attempted to overpower guards by smearing the floor with human waste and then staging a suicide, hoping guards would slip when they came to help (Associated Press).
Over two years ago some terrorists at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq were humiliated and many Americans were outraged. Of course we were right to be concerned over Abu Ghraib--but why do we not display similar outrage when our sons and daughters are abused? Whose side are we on anyway?

More abuses at Guantanamo Bay
At a recent news conference sponsored by the Council for American Islamic Relations, a former Muslim chaplain at Guantanamo Bay said that the prison should be closed. The chaplain charged that prisoners where forced to kneel inside of satanic symbols, were touched inappropriately by female guards, were occasionally wrapped in the Israeli flag, and that guards (gasp!) sometimes kicked the Qur’an! (CNSNews)
I’m sure all Americans will be shocked by these revelations. The next thing you know, we’ll hear that these poor terrorists have been denied such basic necessities of life as high-definition cable TV, sleep-number beds and La-Z-Boy recliners!

Americans tortured
Terrorists charged that their Qur’an’s were mistreated at Guantanamo and the Left is outraged at Americans. A few soldiers humiliate some terrorists at Abu Ghraib and the Left absolutely goes ballistic! Rumors come out about fatal shootings in Haditha and the Left rushes to judgment completely ignoring the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
By now everyone knows that the bodies of the bodies of two kidnapped American soldiers have been found. They were reportedly tortured in a way that one general described as “brutal” and “unnatural.” We’re still waiting for any sign of outrage by those on the Left.

Jews and the Qur'an
Remember when rumors of Qur’an abuse at Guantanamo flooded the airways? (some of which truned out to be untrue). It seemed like the stories were repeated endlessly in the media, day after day, week after week, on all the network news shows--and the world was outraged. On Monday an Islamic Jihad suicide bomber killed five innocent people and wounded thirty-five others at a shopping mall in Netanya Israel! Last night I flipped back and forth between ABC, NBC and CBS news and didn’t find a single mention of the incident. How is it possible that the mainline media, the congress, Hollywood, and even the world seem to get more worked up over the alleged abuse of some terrorist's Qur’an, than they do over the wanton destruction of innocent Jewish lives?

Guards at Gitmo
Concern over prisoner abuse at Guantanamo Bay is still in the news, yet according to Steve Harrigan, (Fox Weekend Live, July 2 or 3) who had recently returned from Guantanamo Bay, some of the more “noncompliant” inmates sometimes throw a cocktail of urine, feces, and semen on the guards! Some extend their arms in airplane fashion and say, “9/11, 9/11, boom” and then laugh! With all the concern over the treatment of terrorists at Gitmo isn’t it sad that almost no one in Hollywood, the media or Congress seems to express concern for the treatment our men and women who are assigned to guard these..., these..., well, I’ll let you finish the sentence.

Guantanamo Bay and the news media
On the June 28 “Political Grapevine” Brit Hume said, “Congressional Democrats who reported favorably on conditions at Guantanamo Bay after visiting the detention camp over the weekend received almost no coverage in key mainstream media outlets.” What a surprise. The mainline media has done such a thorough job reporting all the allegations against Guantanamo Bay, why do you suppose they wouldn’t report this? After all the lies that have been told about American mistreatment of prisoners at Gitmo, wouldn’t you think that Americans would want to hear reports by Democrats that Gitmo is not all that bad after all?
I don’t fault the news media for pursuing stories about possible prisoner abuse by Americans--in fact, they deserve praise for courageous reporting. I do fault the news media for not reporting the other side of the story. It almost seems like some in the news media only want to report news that makes America look bad. There is a name for people who only want to report bad things about America while covering up news stories that put America in a positive light…they’re called America’s enemies!

United Nations and Guantanamo Bay
I understand that United Nations is now attacking the US treatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. Bear in mind that this is the same United Nations whose rampant greed and corruption is responsible for the starvation of Iraqi children. This is the same United Nations whose peacekeepers raped women in the countries the peacekeepers were sent to protect! This is the same United Nations that stood silently by while literally millions of Africans slaughtered their neighbors. I wonder if it isn't just a litte hypocritical for the United Nations to weigh in on this issue.

The Qur'an and Guantanamo
Last Saturday, June 19, Fox’s Weekend Live reported that the United States provided 1,600 copies of the Qur’an as well as prayer rugs and prayer beads for the prisoners at Guantanamo. Can you imagine if the government had provided Bibles? The ACLU, People for the American Way and Americans United for the Separation of Church and State would have gone into convulsions over the use of government funds to promote religion! Are these groups really interested in keeping government and religion separate, or are they just out to suppress Christianity?

Guantanamo Bay and the media
Both ABC and MSNBC news last night aired further concerns about the interrogation of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. It’s also on the cover of Time this week and, of course, we all know about the recent Newsweek cover story on the Qur'an at Gitmo. I don’t fault news organizations like these for pursuing this story but I can’t help wondering why other stories never seem to make the news. For example, last month 600 Christians were arrested in China, some probably sent to one of their hundreds of slave labor camps where many other Christians waste away for their faith. In India, numerous Christian churches have been attacked by Hindu mobs while authorities stand by and do nothing--or worse, end up arresting the Christian victims! Violence against Christians in Indonesia is a regular occurrence. On May 28 two bombs were exploded in a refugee village for Christians, timed specifically to inflict the maximum damage. Twenty-one people died. In Saudi Arabia, 40 Pakistani Christians were arrested recently, followed by a raid on 60 Ethiopian and Eritrean Christians--their Bible’s weren’t disrespected, by the way, they were just confiscated. In Saudi Arabia people can be arrested and tortured even for possessing a Bible! All this happened just recently and is just the tip of the iceberg of persecution against Christians.
What?! You haven’t heard about these things? I rest my case. Actually, that’s understandable. After all our mainline news sources only have a limited amount of time or space and they have to use it to cover the really important stories--like Michael Jackson, a runaway bride or the misuse of the Qur’an!
For more information on Christian persecution check out some of the human rights links, specifically Compass Direct, in the left column of this blog.

Amnesty International and Guantanamo Bay
Last week, Amnesty International ripped on the United States, comparing treatment of the captives at Guantanamo Bay with Soviet gulags, which were very harsh forced work (torture) camps (Read Gulag Archipelago by Solzhenitsyn).
On the other hand, also last week, UPI reported that British officials have discovered Al-Qaida training manuals which instruct any Al-Qaida members who are captured to claim they were tortured, to spread rumors and to write statements that incite people against “the enemy” (Their tactic is working). This seems to be supported by a Pentagon investigation that discovered that about half of the alleged Qur’an abuses were by the inmates themselves, for example, one inmate urinated on a Qur’an.
This leads me to wonder if Amnesty International has simply become an anti-American mouthpiece for our enemies. With all the oppression and torture of so many innocent people around the world that really need Amnesty International’s voice, it is truly unfortunate that they would tarnish their credibility by making questionable (at best) allegations about U.S. treatment of terrorists.
I have an idea, though, to prevent future Qur’an abuse at Guantanamo. Let’s remove all copies of the Qur’an from the prison. If no one has a Qur’an, no one can desecrate it. Hmm, maybe we could replace them with Arabic New Testaments. I’m sure Amnesty International wouldn’t raise an eyebrow about someone urinating on a New Testament. In fact, I bet the mainline news media would herald it as a great victory for freedom of speech!

The Media and the Qur'an
Many in the news media seem to be obsessed about the possible abuse of the Qur’an by the U.S. military at Guantanamo Bay. Some in the media are apparently very concerned about not offending Muslims. How ironic. Several years ago Andres Serrano displayed a picture he called “Piss Christ.” It was a picture of the crucified Jesus submerged in urine. As I recall, many in the media actually defended Serrano’s anti-Christian bigotry when outraged Christians complained about the use of tax money to fund such hatred.
So why is it that many in the media supported the use tax money to fund a picture of a crucifix submerged in urine, but raise a big stink about the alleged mistreatment of the Qur’an? Why is it OK to offend Christians but not OK to offend Muslims? Come to think of it, why is it OK to use tax money to fund anti-Christian hate speach but it is not OK--at least according to some--to use tax money to support faith-based charities?
Anyway, the “Piss Christ” incident happened several years ago. I’m sure the media today would be just as upset about the display of a crucifix in urine as they are about mistreating the Qur'an...Yeah, right.
