The Hiding Place

According to the Christian Newswire:

"Israeli Ambassador to the Netherlands Harry Kney-Tal today presented members of the Netherlands' ten Boom family with a certificate posthumously honoring two of its members for saving nearly 800 Jewish lives during the Holocaust."

If you've never read the book about this amazing family you owe it to yourself to do so. It is called the Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom.

Germany and Iran

A former Hitler Youth member warns of appeasement and parallels between the rise of Nazi Germany under Hitler, and the rise of Iran:

Author Hilmar von Campe, a former Hitler Youth member and German soldier,
sees shocking parallels between Nazi Germany under Hitler and radical Islam. He
has written an autobiography describing his life as an active participant in --
and his remorse over -- what he calls the greatest tragedy of the 20th
century.

In the book, titled How Was it Possible?, von Campe discusses the
appeasement of the 1930s. "If the British and the French had realized how evil
Hitler and the Nazis were and what their real purposes were," he observes, "they
could have prevented another world war, if they had acted two years or so
earlier" (One News Now)

We really don't learn anything from history do we.

Asylum for homeschoolers?

When Adolf Hitler took control of Germany, one of the first things he did was to take control of the school system so he could brainwash the next generation of German leaders.

Germany seems to be flirting with its past. WND reports that “in recent months homeschoolers have been fined the equivalent of thousands of dollars, had custody of their children taken away, had their homes threatened with seizure and in one case, that of Melissa Busekros, had a team of SWAT officers arrive on a doorstep with orders to seize a homeschool student, "if necessary by force."

Homeschooling parents are reportedly fleeing Germany in droves and even the United Nations says that Germany is stepping over the line!

Governments have a right to know that children are being educated, but it should be a huge wake-up call when governments insist that this education take place exclusively in state-run schools.

Judge says OK to beat wife

According to the New York Times, a Muslim man in Germany beat his wife from the beginning of their marriage. She finally had enough and separated. He then threatened to kill her. She filed for a speedy divorce. The German judge turned down her request citing the Qur’an which allows husbands to beat their wives.

Fortunately the judge has been removed from the case and even progressive Muslims in Germany are condemning the ruling.

I suspect that most Americans will be upset about this ruling as are most Germans. I don’t think advocates of multiculturalism, however, have any right to be upset. The ruling apparently deals with a Muslim couple, married in a Muslim country and presumably living by Muslim rules. If the ideology of multiculturalism is correct we shouldn’t pass judgment on other cultures, so why should this judge be condemned for judging this couple in accordance with their own religion and culture? And why should this victim have the right to opt out of Muslim law just because things are not going well for her?

Of course, this is absolute nonsense—but then, so is multiculturalism.

Hat tip to Ed for bringing this to my attention.
