Obama and school vouchers
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama told a gathering of public school teachers he opposes school vouchers in contrast to Republican Sen. John McCain. On Sunday, Obama spoke to the American Federation of Teachers, via satellite, after the union of 1.4 million teachers and other public school staff endorsed the Illinois senator for president. Obama pledged he was against vouchers to send children to private schools.Barack Obama is all about choice when it comes to killing unborn babies, but is solidly opposed to choice when it comes your choice of schools for your kids.

Islam in public schools
Islamists have taken what's come to be known as the "soft jihad" into America's classrooms and children in K-12 are the first casualties. Whether it is textbooks, curriculum, classroom exercises, film screenings, speakers or teacher training, public education in America is under assault. What follows in the article are examples of specific cases.
Capitalizing on the post-9/11 demand for Arabic instruction, some public, charter and
voucher-funded private schools are inappropriately using taxpayer dollars to implement a religious curriculum. They are also bringing in outside speakers with Islamist ties or sympathies. As a result, not only are children receiving a biased education, but possible violations of the First Amendment's Establishment Clause abound.
It absolutely astounds me how organizations like the ACLU, People of the American Way and Americans United for the Separation of Church and State--which have been so active in their anti-religion war in American schools--have been so silent as Islam steadily creeps in. Apparently these organizations were not so much anti-religion as they were anti-Christian.

Tax funded hate
Federal taxpayers are subsidizing a college in New York whose art school is currently displaying works that include a drawing of a man with a crucifix coming out of his rectum, a drawing of a man with a rosary coming out of his rectum, and rosaries decorated with penises.Over the last eight years, at least $4.6 million in federal tax dollars have been provided to the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, which is displaying the controversial artworks. Some of the money has come in the form of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.
If any public school spends a dime in a way that looks like it is promoting Christianity, the ACLU, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, or People for the American Way are all over it like flies on cowpies! Where are they when a tax subsidized college degrades and vomits hate speach against Christianity? Isn't that a separation of church and state issue as well?
Sex and youth
Opponents to abstinence education like Dr. Laura Berman blame the increase in sexual activity on, "kids learning skewed messages about what sex is," and "they are confused about what virginity means," and "I think part of the problem honestly is the abstinence only model."That’s interesting since “the programs promoting sex outside-of-marriage out-fund abstinence-until-marriage programs by a rate of nearly $12 to $1.” Read the entire article at ChristianNewswire.com.

Freedom of speech attacked on campus
Five years ago, Emily Brooker enrolled at Missouri State University (MSU) to study social work. For her, college was a time of spiritual growth and testing that climaxed during her last semester, when her professors ordered Emily’s class to become “lobbyists” for homosexual behavior by writing letters to the Missouri legislature, encouraging lawmakers to recognize adoption by same-sex couples. Emily respectfully asked for an alternative assignment, explaining to her professor that this one ran counter to her deep religious beliefs. The request was not well received. Her professor filed a ‘level 3’ grievance against Emily—the stiffest charge a faculty member can make against a student.”The committee apparently had the authority to not only fail her in the class, but to keep her from graduating. Fortunately, the Alliance Defense Fund stepped and put a stop to it.
“To answer the grievance, Emily was required to appear alone—no parents, no lawyer—before a department ‘ethics’ committee.”
The newsletter also listed other examples of blatant anti-Christian attacks in our publically funded universities: “At Savannah State, members of a Christian club were put on suspension for washing each other’s feet during a worship service—school officials called that ‘hazing’ and harassment.” [Isn’t it interesting how some state colleges are using tax payer money to fund Muslim footwashing facilities, but when Christians do it, its is “hazing.”]
“At the University of Wisconsin—Superior, administrators denied InterVarsity Christian Felloswhip…access to campus facilities after accusing the members of violating the school ‘anti-discrimination’ policy by not allowing non-Christians to serve in leadership positions.” [Hmmm, I wonder if the brilliant administrators at the U. of Wisconsin required Muslim groups to have Christian leaders or for Atheist groups to have Muslim leaders, or for Democratic groups to have Republican leaders! How stupid—or hateful—can some people get?]
“At the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire, university officials forbade RAs…to lead a Bible study—even with just one other person—in their own dorm room. (Beer parties were permitted.)”
The newsletter said that “In at least 230 public universities across the country, institutional policies are in effect that can sharply curtail Christian activity and limit the spread of the Gospel."
It is amazing that university officials, who undoubtedly think of themselves as tolerant and liberal-minded, can be so intolerant, hateful, and un-liberal. It is also amazing that we have such full-blown assault on freedom of speech and freedom of religion going on in state-run institutions, and yet the major media outlets are totally asleep at the switch.
Fortunately, Alliance Defense Fund is helping to fight such university fascism. If you give to charity, the Alliance Defense Fund is a worthy organization.

Illegal prayer
But when a football coach bowed his head during a long-standing tradition of student-led prayer before a football game, a federal appeals court found that he was in violation of the law!!!
Is it any wonder that many of us think that the Left-wing’s view of separation of church and state has been an anti-Christian sham?

State-funded Muslim school
I have just two questions.
First, how did they ever get away with this? If Christians sought public funding for a Christian School, their chances of getting it would be less than zero.
Second, where is the ACLU when you need them?

Public Islamic schools
Can you imagine a public school founded by two Christian ministers, and housed in the same building as a church? Add to that -- in the same building -- a prominent chapel. And let’s say the students are required to fast during Lent, and attend Bible studies right after school. All with your tax dollars.Unbelilevable! The longer the ACLU, People for the American Way and Americans United for the Separation of Church and State remain silent about these kinds of issues, the more they enforce the idea that they really aren't anti-religion. They are just anti-Christian!
Inconceivable? Sure. If such a place existed, the ACLU lawyers would descend on it like locusts. It would be shut down before you could say “separation of church and state,” to the accompaniment of New York Times and Washington Post editorials full of indignant foreboding, warning darkly about the growing influence of the Religious Right in America.
But such a school does exist in Minnesota, in a different religious context, and so far the ACLU has uttered nary a peep.

Another sex workers art show
Last year, Gene Nichol, president of the College of William & Mary,
said he wanted to make the school's chapel more welcoming to non-Christians, so
he removed the cross and stored it in a closet. The cross was returned after a
strong public outcry. Recently, President Nichol allowed a censored version of
what is known as the "Sex Workers' Art Show." That show featured monologues and
performances by strippers, homosexual prostitutes, and other sex workers. Nichol
said free-speech issues trumped any objections to the show. This marks the third
year the show has been held at the school (OneNewsNow).
Parents, this is what you get for your donations and hard earned tuition at some schools. In this case, though, the president of William and Mary has just resigned after being notified that his contract would not be renewed. We can only hope that the trustees of Duke and Yale take notice.

Sex Show at Duke
Duke has an explicit policy prohibiting strippers on campus, which was
implemented as a result of the lacrosse affair. The fact that the administration
not only allowed but paid for (University Fund and Cultural Fund) this affair on
practically the two-year anniversary of the Lacrosse Affair in which they and
the Women's Center and Women's Studies (all contributors to the event) skewered
the lacrosse team for hiring strippers, is especially extraordinary. Shockingly,
this show was far more inappropriate than the lacrosse party. The University
Fund is comprised of contributions from the President's Office, Provost's
Office, and Student Affairs (ChristianNewsWire).
I think parents and donors of these universities should began a mass revolt, transferring their kids and money to other universities! I won't hold my breath though.

Sex week at Yale
*The female orgasm
*Everything you’ve always wanted to know about sex (and sex toys)
*Seduction: How to get the girl you’ve always wanted
*The business of pornography; how Vivid (a porn company) made it mainstream
*Also includes a panel discussion with a porn company’s superstars (complete with a screening!)
This raises several questions: Wasn't the women's rights movement concerned in part about how women were portrayed as sex objects or pieces of meat? Didn't the Surgeon General of the United States once publish an extensive study demonstrating a link between hard-core pornography and violent crimes against women? Why isn't the National Organization for Women, therefore, protesting this travesty! Why do tax payers have to fund a university that promotes an industry that increases the incidences of STD's and violence against women? Why do parents continue to send their kids and hard earned money to such a place?

Handcuffing children
But if a spoiled little brat or emotionally disturbed child is genuinely out of control what are the teachers or police supposed to do? Reasoning won’t work. The kid may refuse to take a time-out. Spanking is forbidden. Bribery may work but it is counterproductive to reward bad behavior.
On the other hand, handcuffing is not torture and it need not even be painful. Since we don’t allow teachers spank kids anymore, handcuffing may be necessary as last resort to restrain out-of-control kids so they don’t hurt themselves, or others, until the problem can be resolved.
When we take away reasonable options for dealing with troubled, out-of-control kids it is really our teachers or police who are being handcuffed.

Gay men and MRSA
A drug-resistant strain of potentially deadly bacteria has moved beyond theLeftists, especially in the public school system, think they are being compassionate when they support homosexual sex as a positive alternative lifestyle. They are promoting a lifestyle that is killing gay people. Leftists have a strange way of defining compassion. Read the rest of the article in Reuters.
borders of U.S. hospitals and is being transmitted among gay men during sex,
researchers said on Monday.
They said methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, is beginning to appear outside hospitals in San Francisco, Boston, New York and Los Angeles.
Sexually active gay men in San Francisco are 13 times more likely to be infected than their heterosexual neighbors, the researchers reported in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
"Once this reaches the general population, it will be truly unstoppable," said Binh Diep, a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco who led the study.
"That's why we're trying to spread the message of prevention." According to
chemical analyses, bacteria are spreading among the gay communities of San
Francisco and Boston, the researchers said.

Absolutely un-be-liev-able!!!
Now some of the faculty of Columbia University are planning to travel to Iran to apologize to Ahmadinejad for their president's honesty (Dhimmi Watch).
I wish there was a way to revoke their citizenship while they were gone so they could stay in Iran where they belong. My guess is that it wouldn't be long before they were begging and pleading to come back.

Education is the answer
"I've been asked the question over the years, 'What's the single most important issue?' I always say education because it is the answer to every other problem we confront as a people here."
For an excellent response to this nonsense, see Dennis Prager’s excellent article on TownHall. I would say that Senator Dodd needs a better education.

University of Delaware brainwashing
No wonder there are so many Leftists in America. They’ve been brainwashed by the University System and can no longer think for themselves! Under legal pressure from FIRE and from bloggers like Michelle Malkin, the University of Delaware has backed off its Soviet-style tactics and many conservatives are cheering the victory.NEWARK, Del., October 30, 2007—The University of Delaware subjects students in
its residence halls to a shocking program of ideological reeducation that is referred to in the university’s own materials as a “treatment” for students’ incorrect attitudes and beliefs. The Orwellian program requires the approximately 7,000 students in Delaware’s residence halls to adopt highly specific university-approved views on issues ranging from politics to race, sexuality, sociology, moral philosophy, and environmentalism.
The university’s views are forced on students through a comprehensive anipulation of the residence hall environment, from mandatory training sessions to sustainability” door decorations. Students living in the university’s eight housing complexes are required to attend training sessions, floor meetings, and one-on-one meetings with their Resident Assistants (RAs). The RAs who facilitate these meetings have received their own intensive training from the university, including a “diversity facilitation training” session at which RAs were taught, among otherthings, that “[a] racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality.”According to the program’s materials, the goal of the residence life education program is for students in the university’s residence halls to achieve certain “competencies” that the university has decreed its students must develop in order to achieve the overall educational goal of “citizenship.” These competencies include: “Students will recognize that systemic oppression exists in our society,” “Students will recognize the benefits of dismantling systems of oppression,” and “Students will
be able to utilize their knowledge of sustainability to change their daily
habits and consumer mentality.” (FIRE, see also HotAir).
My question is this: If the administrators of an American University advocated a program in which all blacks, all Hispanics or all Asians were denounced as racists, would that administrator still have a job today? Of course not! Then why are these administrators still employed? Shouldn’t the board of this university send a message that this kind of politically correct, racist, class warfare, brainwashing will not be tolerated? Why does anyone continue to attend or support universities that propogate this communist class warfare propoganda which pits the supposed evil white privileged class against everyone else? Programs like these do not promote tolerance and understanding, they incite division and class hatred.
Sexual abuse in public schools
Contrary to what I have reported before (this is a correction), this percentage is less than the number of abuse cases reported in the Catholic Church, nevertheless, this story deserves much more media attention than it is getting. Our nation's kids are at stake. The findings of a seven-month investigation by Associated Press reporters
reveal that from 2001 to 2005, the teaching credentials of more than 2,500
educators nationwide were revoked, denied, surrendered, or sanctioned following
allegations of sexual misconduct. The investigation, chronicled by the news
agency in a mid-October report, states that young people were the victims in at
least 1,801 of the cases -- and more than 80 percent of those were
students.
However, AP says that during its investigation, it found a "deeply
entrenched resistance" toward recognizing and fighting that sexual abuse -- from
teachers and school administrators who wish to avoid lawsuits, to the halls of
state capitals and Congress where lawmakers are hesitant to disparage an
otherwise honorable and vital profession. The result, says Associated Press, is
that very few abusers get caught -- and often are allowed to exit a district
quietly, only to show up in another school district. That dynamic, says the
report, is so commonplace that it has its own nicknames -- "passing the trash"
or the "mobile molester" (Readthe AP report)
