AIDS vaccines increase risk

According to the Daily Mail:

"The search for a cure for Aids was in crisis last night after it was revealed that two supposed 'miracle' vaccines not only fail to protect people from the virus, but could put them at greater risk of becoming infected." Read the rest in the Daily Mail.

1 in 4 with STD's

According to the Associated Press:

At least one in four teenage girls nationwide has a sexually transmitted disease, or more than 3 million teens, according to the first study of its kind in this age group.

A virus that causes cervical cancer is by far the most common sexually transmitted infection in teen girls aged 14 to 19, while the highest overall prevalence is among black girls—nearly half the blacks studied had at least one STD. That rate compared
with 20 percent among both whites and Mexican-American teens, the study from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found.
This is what those who oppose abstinence education have brought us. They will argue, of course, that abstinence education doesn't always work, but it is much better to shoot for the moon and miss, than it is to shoot for the gutter and hit it.

AIDS is a "gay disease"

According to CNSNews:

In a startling admission, the head of a major homosexual activist group
said HIV/AIDS is a "gay disease." The comments were made last Friday at the
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force's (NGLTF) national conference in Detroit by
Executive Director Matt Foreman."Folks, with 70 percent of the people in this
country living with HIV being gay or bi (sexual), we cannot deny that HIV is a
gay disease," Foreman told his audience. "We have to own that and face up to
that."
I think the media and our schools need to promote the idea that gay people, like everyone else, need to be treated with dignity and respect. But in light of the AIDS epidemic, it is just plain insanity for society to promote the idea that men having sex with men is a normal, alternative lifestyle.

Some groups actually promote this insanity even to to kids who are supposedly "questioning" their sexuality. Many radical gay organizations even oppose other gays who want to escape their dangerous lifestyles. And unfortunately, many gutless, spineless Americans (and American politicians)--terrified at the prospect of being out of step with the current political correctness--simply nod approvingly as our schools and the media promote lifestyles leading to agony and death.

San Jose U. suspends blood drives

The president of San Jose State University has suspended campus blood drives because they discriminate against gay people who, but law, are not allowed to give blood! (Mercury News, Debbie Schlussel).

One would think that even gay people would be outraged by this insanity. I mean, if you are gay and do not have AIDS, why would you want to risk having the blood supply tainted? Gay people have accidents and need blood transfusions too.

Sometimes the lunacy of some on the Left is beyond all comprehension!

AIDS, HIV and IV drug use

In a recent article, Robert Knight asks why the media never asks some of the following questions of "the professional HIV/AIDS lobby, which grows ever fatter while the human tragedy rises":

  • Federal funding for HIV/AIDS has increased dramatically every year since 1993, yet the number of new infections has not declined. Why do we spend more money every year on prevention programs that have failed to prevent new infections?
  • Why do billions of dollars continue to flow to organizations and programs that have been a colossal failure by any yardstick?
  • Why does the government spend far more on AIDS than cancer or heart disease, which each kill more than 10 times more people annually in the U.S.?
  • With CDC statistics showing that HIV/AIDS in the United States is still astronomically higher among men who have sex with men (MSM), why are AIDS officials getting away with saying all Americans are equally at risk?
  • Why have most of the media ignored studies, such as one in the American Journal of Public Health in June 2003 about a program among African-American female adolescents that reported that "17.8 percent of the adolescents acquired an STD despite 100 percent condom use."

Knight goes on to point out that:

  • "Between 2001 and 2006, MSM sexual contact was the most common mode of transmission reported among newly reported AIDS cases."
  • "Between 2001 and 2006 among persons living with AIDS, the highest number of cases was consistently among those attributed to MSM sexual contact, followed by heterosexual contact and IDU [injection drug users]."
  • "Males made up greater than 70% of all cases living with AIDS, consistent with national trends."

Knight says that “A draft report for the UN's AIDS agency has found that even when people use condoms consistently, the failure rate for protection against HIV is an estimated 10 percent…One would think a 10 percent failure rate against a 100 percent fatal disease would continue to make news, but the stat has disappeared into a media black hole.”

Knight says that “All three leading Democratic presidential candidates have pledged to increase federal money for needle giveaway programs.” But Knight then points out that while Vancouver, Canada has the largest needle exchange program in the Western Hemisphere, the incidence of HIV among IV drug users has risen from 2% to 40%, the “highest HIV infection rate of any city in the developed world.”

Just another bright idea from your friends on the Left. These drug users should find a way to sue the government for facilitating and enabling their drug dependence.

The government is already taking billions of our tax dollars for programs that are not working.
The Democrats want to take even more of your tax dollars to expand these programs that aren’t working. And our politically correct media just continue to ignore the story.

The article concludes, “The main question should be: Why are we throwing billions of dollars at the same old approaches? It can't be "compassion," because it's not working.”

Good question. Please read the entire article at One News Now.

1.7 million have HIV infections

According to CNS News, “An estimated 1.7 million people have HIV infections, and there have been over 500,000 deaths from AIDS.” In addition, “For FY 2007, $23.4 billion dollars were allocated for fighting HIV/AIDS worldwide - $14 billion domestically. More than half of the money the government spends on AIDS is for care of AIDS patients through Medicaid and Medicare.”

And yet our public schools continue to push a homosexuality as a positive alternative lifestyle. I would understand public schools teaching that no one should be mocked or ridiculed because of their sexual orientation, but to actually promote a lifestyle which has a high risk of horrible death is not only cruel and inhuman, such promotion should be criminal!

Endangering school children

According to the Christian Newswire, in a ruling regarding a controversial sexuality curriculum, both the Maryland Board of Education and the Montgomery County School Board have “…rejected a petition from 270 local medical doctors to include warning about anal sex critical to student safety as issued by the Office of the Surgeon General and National Institutes of Health."

Isn't it interesting that tobacco companies are required by law to inform adults about the danger of smoking, yet schools can teach children that life-threatening behaviors are acceptable, and then refuse to warn students of the risk! To endanger the lives of children for the sake of political correctness is egregiously evil!

The first time one of these kids gets AIDS, I hope their parents absolutely sue the pants of this school district and the Maryland Board of Education!

AIDS prevention

Last year alone over 2 million people died from AIDS. The best prevention against AIDS would be to follow principles spelled out in the Bible: No sex outside of marriage and no homosexual sex. Since so many people seem determined to rebel against these biblical principles, there appears to be another effective preventative measure against AIDS. Ironically, it is also a practice that appears in the Bible--circumcision.

A study published recently in the journal, Lancet tracked over 7,000 circumcised and uncircumcised men in Kenya and Uganda and determined that circumcision can reduce men's chance of contracting AIDS by 60% (APNews). This actually confirms an earlier story reported by Recliner Commentaries in July 2005.

AIDS and circumcision

As recently as April 4th a writer for the UCLA Daily Bruin demanded that circumcision be outlawed, calling it “genital mutilation” and a “violation of human rights.” She is not alone. Earlier this year a bill was introduced in the California state legislature that would make circumcision illegal. After reading the bill, it is hard for me to wonder whether the real agenda isn’t anti-religious bigotry since the arguments against circumcision are vastly are overstated and Jews and Muslims would be the primary targets. http://www.mgmbill.org/camgmbill.htm

This controversy, however, is what makes the article in the July 5, 2005 Wall Street Journal so interesting. The Wall Street Journal reports “…French and South African researchers have apparently found that male circumcisions reduce by about 70% the risk that men will contract HIV through intercourse with infected women.” If scientists even remotely suspected that they had discovered a medication which might reduce AIDS by 70%, every major news outlet in the country would be on the story like flies on cowpies! So far, the San Francisco Chronicle is the only major news source to have picked up on the Wall Street Journal story. Radio commentator Dennis Prager suspects that many in the media are so biased against religion that they suppress the story deliberately. It’s hard to imagine that so many journalists could be so bigoted as to suppress news which--if confirmed--could save millions of lives. I sincerely hope that religious bigotry is not the reason the lack of widespread media attention.
