Those who have read Recliner Commentaries regularly know that I have often strongly criticized President Obama so I am happy to be able offer some support for a change.
I think it was Teddy Roosevelt who once said, "Walk softly but carry a big stick." It seems to me that this is exactly what President Obama has done so far with North Korea. The rhetoric from Washington seems particularly muted in light of North Korea's promise to attack the U.S. with nuclear weapons, but the President has sent a missile defense shield to Guam, two destroyers and an aircraft carrier near North Korea, and a chemical/nuclear weapons response team to South Korea. He also sent some nuclear capable B2 stealth bombers to South Korea as a show of force.
This is what I know just off the top of my head from reading various news reports. The President may be doing even more. If the North Korean rhetoric continues, I think our military buildup should continue.
So far I think President Obama is following the right course. Kudos to the President!
