Koran burning in Afghanistan

Please take 30 seconds (or less) to read congressman Allen West's comments on the Koran burning in Afghanistan. I agree completely!  (Hat tip: Professor ed.)

Romney, Obama and religious liberty

Romney hits the nail on the head with regard to religious liberty!

The real extreamists

I didn't catch the debates last night but it sounds like New Gingrich hit the ball out of the park when the candidates were asked which ones believed in birth control. Gingrich pointed out that when Barack Obama was running for President, not one question in the debates was asked about the fact that as a legislator, Obama actually voted to leave living babies (those who survived botched abortions) to die unattended in a stainless steal pan!

The media is trying to portray Republicans as extremists and yet it is actually Obama who is the real extremist.

As I understand it, CNN asked no questions about the rising oil prices or "Fast and Furious." Wonder why.

Racism and voter ID's

For a brilliant article (no, I'm not being sarcastic) on racism and requiring voters to show ID's, see "Holder vs. Racist ID cards" by Deroy Murdock.

See also "Dead voters prove the need for for photo ID at the polls"  and "Today we're going to vote like its 1899" by the same author.

It seems to me that Murdock demonstrates beyond any reasonable doubt that for many Democrats, voter ID is not about what's right, or what's good for the country, but about obtaining/maintaining Democrat power at all costs.

Obama's Cynicism

If you read only one article this week, please read "Obama's Cynicism for me, Not for Thee." It is outstanding. (Hat tip: Professor ed).

On perverting the grace of God into immorality

This morning Fox and Friends played a clip of Rick Santorum criticizing Obama's "phony theology" which "is not based on the Bible."

Later Santorum was reportedly asked if he thought Obama was a Christian and Santorum said that if Obama claims to be a Christian, he is a Christian. My understanding is that Mike Huckabee has the same position.

I have a different view. In the New Testament, the little letter of Jude issues searing denunciation of those who pervert the grace of God into immorality. The author of Jude compares such people to demons who rebelled against God's authority, to the residents of Sodom and Gomorrah who were condemned for their homosexual behavior, and to Baalam who advised Israel's enemies to subvert Israel through sexual immorality. The author  promises eternal damnation for such people.

The author of Second Peter pronounces similar condemnation on false teachers who, in teaching such "shameful ways" are actually "denying the sovereign Lord who bought them" (2 Peter 2:1-2). The author specifically mentions the condemnation of Sodom of Gomorrah in his letter also.

During his ministry, Paul also had to face those who perverted his teaching of grace into evil. Following Jesus, Paul says "their condemnation is just (Romans 3:8; cf. Matthew 7:15-23).

There can be little doubt what the authors of the letters of Second Peter and Jude would have thought of a President who, while claiming to be Christian, aggressively pushes--through government coercion--policies which promote behavior that Second Peter and Jude condemn in the strongest possible terms.

More nanny state tyranny

The headlines read, "Preschooler's Homemade Lunch Replaced with Cafeteria Nuggets; State agent inspects sack lunches, forces preschoolers to purchase cafeteria food instead."

According to the article,
The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day.
The government (in this case, state government) will always give "good" reasons for imposing more and more and more regulations on us. The question is, will Americans ever wake up and rebel (at the voting both) against such nanny-state tyranny at all levels--or will we continue to accept it because, after all, it must be good for us?

On hope and change

Gas prices are now about $3.50 per gallon (Some are projecting gas to go as high as $4 or $5 per gallon by summer). When Obama took office gas prices were $1.84.

That's a big change, but not much hope.

Obama's "Truth Teams"

The real battle begins! President Obama is about to unleash "Truth Teams" to lie about the truth Republicans tell of Obama's failed presidency. With his bag of dirty-Chicago-politics-tricks, and a corrupt Attorney General, (e.g. an Attorney General who refused to prosecute voter intimidation when the intimidation benefited Obama's campaign) I'm afraid this president will stop at nothing to retain his power. Please take time to read the article.

We have a President who thinks he has the power to tell private insurance companies what they must cover, and who thinks he has the authority to tell the Roman Catholic Church that they must pay for behaviors they consider sinful!

Not only is this unconstitutional, it is tyranny, and if Americans allow him to get away with it by electing him to another term, it will only be the beginning! If Obama does this kind of stuff in his first term, just imagine what he'll do when he doesn't have to worry about reelection!

I honestly believe the future of America may be at stake in this election. (hat tip: Professor ed).

UPDATE: Not long after I posted this I received an e-mail from a Christian leader who had recently met with political leaders in Washington. He expressed concern that the government is increasingly intruding on matters relating to sexuality, hiring decisions, and "community covenant standards." In the e-mail this leader also expressed concern over government policy changes that have the potential for forcing the closing of Christian institutions in American ranging from Catholic hospitals to Christian colleges.

Tyrants will not take over America by overtly cutting out the First Amendment and outlawing Freedom of Religion. The majority would not stand for it. What tyrants will do, however, is to package their attacks in such a way that the majority see the changes as being for the good, rather than what they really are: a subversive attack on the Constitution and freedom. Most people may not realize what's happening until it is too late, and that is precisely what the Obama administration is hoping for. The 2012 election will tell whether they are right or not.

White House puts lipstick on the pig!

The White House "compromise" on their unconstitutional HHS mandate basically amounted to putting lipstick on the pig!

Occupy so far in 2012

Remember how the Democrats regularly slandered the peaceful TEA party protests but later defended and even supported the Occupy movement. Here is the track record of the Occupy movement just for the first two months of this year alone. Eye-opening!

Freedom of Religion in serious danger

Please take  a few minute to watch this video. It is about one of the most blatant attacks on religious freedom in the history of America!

Another attack on religious freedom

The Obama administration has issued another massive attack against the Constitution and religious freedom in America. They are planning to force religious organizations (specifically, Roman Catholic groups) to include contraception, sterilization and abortion inducing drugs in their insurance coverage.

So what's the big deal?  The big deal is that it forces those who run religious organizations to violate their fundamental religious beliefs--and Freedom of Religion is all about not being forced by government to violate fundamental religious beliefs.

To give an analogy, it would be like the government mandating that all delis, even Kosher delis, serve pork products and then justifying it by saying that protein is healthy, and many Jews who don't follow Kosher laws and many non-Jews go to those delis. The law wouldn't technically ban Jews from owning delis, but it would effectively ban their ability to run them according to their conscience.  [from the article linked above]

In case you're thinking, "OK, but this mainly affects Catholics and I'm not Catholic (I'm not either), I would remind you of the saying attributed to Martin Niemoller describing those who did not stand up to the Nazi's:

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak out because I was Protestant.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

More and more, the government is seeking to force religious organizations to hire people who behave in ways considered abominable to those organizations. More and more the government is seeking to force religious people, clinics and hospitals to perform abortions in violation of their consciences. More and more the government is seeking to force Christian adoption agencies, Christian psychologists and business people to violate their fundamental religious beliefs in the name of non-discrimination--all the while discriminating against people of faith by ignoring their Constitutional rights!

If people of faith do not unite and stand up to this tyranny, Freedom of Religion will eventually become so eroded and re-defined that it will come to mean, "Freedom of Worship" rather than "Freedom of Religion. In other words, "Freedom of Worship" will mean, "you have the freedom to worship within the confines of your home or church--as long as you do not criticize the government (there is already an IRS rule against criticizing politicians by name from the pulpit) and do not bring your religious views into the public square."

That's the kind of "Religious Freedom" they have in some Muslim and communist countries.
