Rangel: What would Jesus do about the debt ceiling?

According to Fox News: "While lawmakers from both parties are asking what President Obama is going to do about the debt ceiling, Rangel continues to ask, "what would Jesus do?"

Rangel seems to assume that Jesus' teaching about the poor means that we should go further and further in debt, and try to remain solvent by stealing more and more money from the "rich."

I think we can be pretty sure that Jesus wouldn't have gotten into debt in the first place but if he did get into debt, we can be confident that he would pay it off without stealing from "rich" people!

The very fact that we are talking about raising the debt ceiling at all is evidence of fiscal irresponsibility by members of Congress! It means that they have refused to live within the budgets that they have set. Then, after they have been so fiscally irresponsible, they make American workers pay for their negligence with threats of government shut downs. Unlike Congress, we can be sure that Jesus wouldn't have been irresponsible with other people's money in the first place!

After being fiscally irresponsible with taxpayer money how dare Rangel invoke the name of Jesus to justify Democrat's theft from the rich to dig their way out of the mess that our Presidents' (plural) and Congress' (plural) irresponsibility have caused!
