North Korea and U.N Conference on Disarmament

According to Fox News,
Despite numerous breaches of arms embargoes and continued threats to expand its nuclear weapons program, North Korea has assumed the presidency of the United Nations Conference on Disarmament.
What insanity! Why on earth do we continue to fund this sorry excuse for an organization? This is your tax dollars at work!

More gay activist "tolerance"

In a recent article, Frank Turek writes:
As described in several recent columns by Mike Adams, I was fired as a vendor by Cisco for my conservative beliefs about sex and marriage even though my beliefs were never expressed on the job. When a homosexual manager found out on the Internet that I had authored a book giving evidence that maintaining our current marriage laws would be best for society, he couldn’t tolerate me and requested I be fired. An HR executive canned me within hours without ever speaking to me. This happened despite the fact that the leadership and teambuilding programs I led always received high marks (even from the homosexual manager!).
Yet another example of gay activist "tolerance."  Please read the entire article on Townhall.

Supreme Court on violent video games

The Supreme Court ruled today that California cannot ban the sale of violent video games to minors.

As much as I hate this decision, I think the Justices probably interpreted the First Amendment accurately. It just goes to show that what John Adams (Signer of the Declaration of Independence and 2nd President) said is true: "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

Our guarantee of free speech assumes that Americans will be a moral and religious people who will use that freedom responsibly. Sadly, this is becoming less and less the case.

U.N. resolution on gay rights

According to Reuters: “The top U.N. human rights body declared Friday there should be no discrimination or violence against people based on their sexual orientation..."

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed full support for the resolution.

I hope we can all agree that there should be no violence against people based on their sexual orientation, but just what exactly does "no discrimination" mean?

Does this mean that churches, religious schools, religious colleges, religious charities, religious missions, etc. should eventually be forced by non-discrimination laws to accept practicing homosexuals into their organizations?

For example, should a Christian College be forced by law to hire a biology professor who is a practicing homosexual? If so, how could such a college possibly exclude professors who practice other behaviors that religious organizations call sin?

How could such a college have a practicing homosexual on their faculty but continue to "discriminate" against other unrepentant "sinners" like adulterers or unmarried couples living together or faculty members who enjoyed getting drunk on the weekends?

Is the government going to start telling religious organizations, including churches, mosques and synagogues, what "sins" it can and cannot "discriminate" against?

If such a thing every happens in America, I would suggest that Christians, Jews and Muslims start joining gay organizations until they have sufficient majorities to out-vote the gay members--then take over the organizations and vote them out of existence! The "non-discrimination" sword should cut both ways.

Michele Obama: "we have help from the media"

Michelle Obama admits, "Fortunately we have help from the media."

And still there are ignorant people who claim that the mainstream media is not biased!

Soliciting foreign money to influence our elections?

Is it just me, or is there something deeply disturbing about soliciting foreign money to influence our elections? Shouldn't this be illegal?

Anti-Religious Speech Police by Gingrich

Please take time to read Newt Gingrich's short but outstanding article on "Anti-Religious Speech Police." I agree with him--this is like something you would expect to see under a dictatorship.

Woman spanks child and loses custody

Because a Texas mother spanked her child, she has been charged with a crime! She was given five years probation and has lost custody of her child until the court decides otherwise!

It would be one thing if the judge removed the child due to excessive punishment or spanking but he made it clear that any spanking is a crime--which is not what Texas law says. Talk about an abuse of power and legislating from the bench!

When judges just make up laws from the bench we no longer have rule of law--we have black-robed high priests who make up the law as they go along. It is infuriating, outrageous tyranny which undermines democracy and freedom!

Social Security and "The Missing Money"

Thomas Sowell has a short, but absolutely outstanding, "must read" article entitled, "The Missing Money" about Social Security.

Please take a couple minutes to read it--and remember it the next time politicians (usually--but not always--Democrats) promise you all kinds of benefits and social programs!

Christians tortured in Pakistan

According to Open Doors:
Sheikhupura police [Pakistan] this month tortured a young Christian woman into revealing the whereabouts of the legal team helping her family after an influential Muslim family kidnapped her and her sister, sources said.
Police also helped the Muslim family beat relatives of the Christian woman on court premises and attacked the offices of the organization trying to help her family, they said.
In addition to routinely persecuting Christians, this country recently arrested Pakistanis who helped us get Osama bin Laden and then denied visas to CIA agents who were supposed to work with Pakistan on a joint intelligence program.

And we continue to send billions of our tax dollars to this country.

In my very uniformed opinion, it seems to me that America should 1) help persecuted Christians relocate to America 2) Take out Pakistan's nukes, 3) get our troops out and 4) cut off all foreign aid to Pakistan.  If they are going to treat us like enemies, maybe it is time we treat them like enemies.

Now officially as bad as the Great Depression!

According to CNBC, the U.S. housing crisis is now officially as bad as it was during the Great Depression.

Hows that for "hope and change."

Obama on cleaning up the mess

According to the Washington Times,
President Obama told supporters at a fundraiser in Miami on Monday night that he deserves credit for cleaning up the mess he inherited.
That's a bit like finding your new house cluttered with trash left over from the previous occupants, busting up the walls and cabinets with a sledge hammer, and lamenting the fact that you had to clean up the mess.

Monday, June 13, 2011

According to the Salt Lake Tribune:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is giving significant new powers to its roughly 14,000 agents — allowing them more leeway to search databases, go through household trash or use surveillance teams to scrutinize the lives of people who have attracted their attention.
Regardless of whether this is a good thing or not, I'm quite sure of one thing: If this had been announced during the Bush administration, the liberal outcry would be deafening. For many on the Left, the important criteria is not whether an idea or action is right, or Constitutional, or good for society, but whether it helps those on the Left obtain or maintain power.

John Stossel's "The Money Hole"

I just finished watching John Stossel's outstanding special called, "The Money Hole." I wish I had the power to make this required viewing before anyone could vote in the next election. Stossel did a remarkable job showing that our economic crisis is not just because of the politicians--it is because of "we the people."

Anytime a politician tries to cut anything, they are assaulted by labor groups, lobbyists, other special interest groups or "we the people."  Everyone seems to think cutting the budget is OK, just don't cut my part! And so, because politicians don't want to lose their jobs, America just keeps hurtling toward financial Armageddon.

As an example, when you were watching all the union protests in Wisconsin, you are watching what is financially wrong with America. Fortunately, Wisconsin has a governor with some backbone!

If we don't elect more politicians with the backbone of Wisconsin's governor, America is done. The problem is that too many Americans have their head in the sand, thinking "it will never happen here."

My guess is that virtually all Democrats and probably half the Republicans are part of the problem rather than the solution. If we don't elect people who have the backbone to make massive budgets and be part of the solution in the next election, I fear for our economic future.

Tolerance, gay activist style

Gay activists began their crusade years ago under the banner of tolerance. This is what gay activist tolerance looks like:
--Olympic gold medal gymnast Peter Vidmar stepped down as chief of mission for the 2012 U.S. Olympic team in May following controversy over his opposition to gay marriage. Vidmar, a Mormon, had publicly supported Proposition 8, the voter-approved law passed in 2008 that restricted marriage in California to one man and one woman.
--After coming under fire from gay-rights groups in April, the Atlanta-based law firm King & Spalding pulled out of an agreement with Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives to defend the federal ban on same-sex marriage.
--In New York, state Sen. Ruben Diaz, a Democrat from the Bronx, New York City, contends he has received death threats because he opposes legislation to legalize same-sex marriage. The alleged threats were cited last week by the New York State Catholic Conference, which also opposes gay marriage.
"We are unjustly called `haters' and `bigots' by those who have carefully framed their advocacy strategy," wrote the conference's executive director, Richard Barnes. "The entire campaign to enact same-sex marriage is conducted under a banner of acceptance. ... Yet behind that banner of tolerance is another campaign -- of intimidation, threats and ugliness."
--Apple Inc. recently withdrew two iPhone apps from its App Store after complaints and petition campaigns by gay-rights supporters.

Is our government selling guns to drug cartels?

Is the Obama administration knowingly selling guns and other weapons to drug cartels?
this is often called Project Gunrunner, because it was really about knowingly, deliberately letting guns be sold to straw purchasers who were going to supply them to the narco-terrorist groups on both sides of the border, and they did. And even at our discovery, our investigation, which is now, you know, 20 subpoenas, incredible amount of depositions, leading up to the office of the Attorney General, has shown us that this was authorized at the highest level.
I know people disagree on whether this is a good thing but I find it troubling to say the least. Read the entire interview at Hugh Hewitt.

Newt Gingrich's top aides resign

According to reports, the top aides to Newt Gingrich have resigned. This, combined with the fact that he said Paul Ryan's plan is right-wing social engineering  and that the government should be able to force all Americans to purchase medical insurance, lead me to think that he might just as well throw in the towel. It's over.

Idaho tramples Freedom of Speech

It is unbelievable that such censorship and blatant violation of First Amendment rights could happen in America! If this court's decision is allowed to stand, the consequences are truly scary!

Discrimination and national GLBT month

President Obama proclaimed June to be national Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender month. Why not a national "straight" month too? Doesn't having a national GLBT month discriminate against straights?

We have special months for Black history (February), Irish-Americans (March), Jewish-Americans (May), Asian Pacific Americans (May), Caribbean-Americans (June), Hispanic Americans (September/October), Italian Americans (October) and American Indians (November).

What about a national month for French, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Brazilian, Bolivian, Greek, or Scandinavian Americans?

We have a special month for older Americans (May). Why not a month for younger or middle-age Americans?

When we set aside special months for some groups and not others, aren't we discriminating against those who are left out?

Criminalizing religion

What do Pakistani Muslims and California liberals have in common? They both want to limit freedom. Pakistani Muslims want to criminalize Christianity. California liberals want to criminalize Judaism.

Nursery worker changed with raping a todler

According to Fox News:
A nursery worker has pleaded guilty to raping a toddler in his care and a string of offenses linked to the online grooming of more than 20 other girls.
I think nursery workers who sexually abuse children should be thrown into the ocean with a big stone chained to their neck.

Just kidding.

I think they should be crucified!

Employers to drop health care because of Obamacare

More "hope and change": According to the Wall Street Journal's Market Watch:
Once provisions of the Affordable Care Act start to kick in during 2014, at least three of every 10 employers will probably stop offering health coverage, a survey released Monday shows.

Weiner, Pelosi and ethics, Democrat style

So it turns out that Democrat Anthony Weiner's e-mail was not hacked as he said. In fact, Weiner flat out lied through his teeth over and over and over again when he said his e-mail was hacked and that he did not send inappropriate pictures of himself to some woman. All lies.

Not only that, but it now comes out that Weiner has sent lewd photos to numerous other women. At least one of the photos is apparently X-rated.

But there's more. When right-wing journalist Andrew Breitbart broke this story, while Weiner was lying through his teeth, he was also dragging Breitbart's reputation through the mud by not only allowing Breitbart to be characterized as a liar (for brining this scandal to the public attention) but going so far as to allow suggestions that Breitbart was printing lies or may have even been the hacker!

[As an aside, I heard an interview between journalists and Andrew Breitbart today which took place just before Weiner came clean. In the interview, noting that journalists had accused him of fabricating his facts, Breitbart repeatedly challenged them to produce just one fabrication. Just one! The journalists kept changing the subject. They could not produce even one instance where Breitbart had fabricated his stories].

Then Weiner came out and verified that the whole thing was true. Breitbart had not lied nor had he fabricated his facts. It was all Left-wing slander.

Anyway, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi has called for an ethics investigation. Great! But why did she wait so long? Why didn't she call for an ethics investigation when the allegations were being made and Weiner was obviously hiding something? Why did she wait until after the confession? Isn't that a bit like closing the barn door after the cows have already escaped?

Earlier this year when a Republican congressman was involved in a similar (in fact, lesser) scandal, Speaker of the House, John Boehner called the congressman in an told him to pack up his things and be gone by the end of the day. Why didn't Pelosi do the same thing?

Could it be that Pelosi ordered the "ethics" investigation so she could say that Democrats took the scandal seriously while at the same time protecting Democrats from having to say anything to the press about this? Now if the anyone asks Democrats to comment on Rep. Weiner all that have to do is say, "Gee, I'd really like to comment but that is under investigation right now."

Very convenient.

Efforts to ban circumcision in California

Efforts to ban circumcision are picking up steam in California. One of the proponents says the goal is to make it a federal crime to circumcise your baby.

Many (most?) of these same people undoubtedly have no problem slaughtering the same baby before s/he is born or piercing various parts of his/her body after s/he is born!

Make no mistake about it. The people who are pushing this are dangerous people--not just because they are intolerant and bigoted, but because they are anti-semitic and hate religious liberty!

Worse than the Great Depression!

After flushing almost a trillion of your tax dollars down the hopper, here is the result of Obama's "Hope and Change":  CBS News reports,
About 6.2 million Americans, 45.1 percent of all unemployed workers in this country, have been jobless for more than six months - a higher percentage than during the Great Depression.

Family Guy mocking Christianity

I've been seeing repeated advertisements for a program called "The Family Guy" in which some cartoon character mocks the blood of Christ.

Isn't it amazing how some small church pastor burns a Koran and it receives international condemnation, and condemnation even from the highest levels of our own government--but when some intolerant, hateful, bigoted Hollywood show mocks Christ it doesn't even make the news!

The Anti-Christian Legal Union strikes again!

According to FoxNews, A federal judge has ordered a Texas school district to prohibit public prayer at a high school graduation ceremony ( hat tip: Professor ed).

What I find absolutely astonishing is that when one atheist feels offended by a prayer, that one atheist’s interests triumph over the wishes of everyone else.

But when a school system tramples on the beliefs and feelings of Christians—e.g. through the promotion of naturalistic evolution, homosexuality, abortion, or the censorship of  and sometimes even the outright attacks against Christian views, etc.—the Christians' constitutional rights to freedom of speech and freedom of religion are denied! A prime example was in Massasoit in which parents were told that they did not have the right to opt their child out of pro-homosexual indoctrination.

It would appear that ACLU lawyers are either too stupid to see the contradiction--or they have an anti-Christian agenda.

They are certainly not stupid.

Giving handouts to countries to which we are in debt!

Our government appears to be absolutely insane (or much more corrupt than I had imagined)! We are handing out over a billion dollars in foreign aid to countries who charge us interest on our debt to them.

Surely there must be something about this story that I am not understanding. Are we really handing out free money to countries that turn around and lend money back to us with interest? Instead of giving them handouts, why don't we use the money to pay down our debt to these countries?  What am I missing?

Gay teams discriminate against heterosexuals

I agree with the judge: I think the gay softball league should have a right to discriminate against heterosexuals by limiting the number of heterosexual players on their teams. It's called freedom.

Romney running for President

Mitt Romney has now officially put his hat in the ring for President again.

Yawn.

Fatah will never recognize Israel's right to exist

"Fatah has never recognized Israel’s right to exist and will never do so, according to Azzam al-Ahmed, a member of the Fatah Central Committee who is closely associated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas."

This is the real impediment to peace in the Middle East! This needs to be the starting point for peace negotiations (not pre-1967 borders or any other concessions). No recognition of Israel? Then no foreign aid. No concessions. Nothing but a promise to help defend Israel from any an all foreign aggression if Israel should ask for our help.
