Educating future terrorists

Please take time to read this very short article about what our "ally," Saudi Arabia, is teaching its young people.
I understand that Palestinians teach their children the same things.

The Left sometimes argues that Islamic fundamentalists do not understand Islam. It is amazing to me how blind (not to mention arrogant and ignorant) the Western Left can be when they argue that the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria or the Palestinians do not understand Islam!

Fourteen bombs explode in Baghdad today

Fox News is reporting that fourteen bombs exploded in Baghdad this morning, this after the U.S. has pulled out of Iraq.

Didn't the liberals tell us that all this violence in Iraq was caused by the fact that the U.S. was there?

Bestiality now OK in the U.S. military?

The Obama administration recently announced that they will use foreign aid to promote gay rights overseas

To the Obama administration, gay rights is apparently more important than true human rights such as freedom of religion, freedom of speech or freedom of the press (we keep giving billions of dollars to nations that regularly suppress these rights).

And speaking of homosexuality, in their efforts to support homosexuality in the military, the U.S. Senate recently overturned a provision in the U.S. Code of military justice that prohibits bestiality!  Apparently "alternative lifestyles" also includes having sex with dogs and goats now!

What's next? Acceptance of pedophilia and incest as "alternative lifestyles"? Oh, I know--some will mock such an idea. But only 30 years ago the idea that homosexual sex would not only be accepted but promoted in our public schools, would have been considered outrageous. Until now, the idea that our Congress would allow bestiality in the military would have been mocked. And yet, here we are.

McDonalds turns the tables on San Francisco!

Remember when liberals used to rant against conservatives about how we can't legislate morality and how we should keep our laws out of the bedroom?

Now these same liberals use the law to legislate morality by regulating food! The liberals are apparently OK with facilitating sex and pornography for children but you are a hell-bound sinner if you give those children a french fry! Such is the morality of the Left.

But McDonalds has used the liberal's own laws against them and is turning a profit in the process! What a great lesson in the unintended consequences of well-meaning government regulations.

New global warming e-mails released

Five thousand e-mails between scientists investigating global warming have just been released. According to Forbes,
Three themes are emerging from the newly released emails: (1) prominent scientists central to the global warming debate are taking measures to conceal rather than disseminate underlying data and discussions; (2) these scientists view global warming as a political “cause” rather than a balanced scientific inquiry and (3) many of these scientists frankly admit to each other that much of the science is weak and dependent on deliberate manipulation of facts and data.

"He's dictatorial, is what he is"

According to Real Clear Politics:
"That is arrogant," Paul said of Obama frequently using the executive order function as of late. "It is flaunting the Constitution and the whole principle of how we’re supposed to operate. The idea they can just do this and take over the legislative function and brag about it -- and Congress does nothing and the courts do nothing about it, it's very, very bad."
"He's dictatorial, is what he is," Rep. Paul said before the end of the interview.
I am certainly no fan of Ron Paul, but when he's right, he's right. Unfortunately, we have Democrats in Congress who don't care about the Constitution either. Ron Paul is right: this is "very, very bad."

Ron Paul wants to be friends with Iran

According to the Washington Post,
When asked on “Fox News Sunday” what he would do to deter Iran’s alleged nuclear ambitions, Paul said “maybe offering friendship to them.”
Ron Paul is apparently as absolutely clueless about the nature of radical Islam as Neville Chamberlain was about the nature of the Nazis.

Occupy protesters attacking police

According to Fox News:
Meanwhile, in Occupying events around the United States, police are mocked, screamed at, spat upon, confronted, pushed, knocked off motorcycles and loads more. New York confrontations resulted in hundreds of protesters arrested. While Occupiers attacked Oakland police with everything from “eggs” and “paint” to “feces” and “M-80” firecrackers, the bigger threat is a new tactic called “doxing.” It’s part of the culture that comes from hacker group Anonymous, which is one of the major organizers of the Occupy Wall Street protests.
Why do we allow our police to be treated like this? The vast majority of police are just men and women who are doing their jobs protecting us. Egging, throwing feces, spitting on or otherwise attacking police should be considered a felony offence with very serious consequences.

Many of these occupy people seem to be little more than self-centered, ignorant thugs. The really shocking thing is that so many prominent Democrats publicly support them!

The most open administration rejects Solyndra subpoena

According to the Washington Examiner:
President Obama's attorney sent a letter to Congressional investigators on Friday, saying the White House would not cooperate with a subpoena requesting documents related to its doling out a $535 million loan guarantee to now bankrupt solar panel manufacturer Solyndra.
Didn't Obama promise that his administration was going to be the most open administration in history? Another Obama lie?

Imagine a world run by the Occupy movement. It's easy if you try. No beds below us. Above us only sky. Imagine all the people, living for themselves. Imagine rapes and robberies, drunkenness and drugs. This is the world of unchecked liberalism--until people have had enough and they accept someone--anyone!--who will bring order (often with an iron fist and with the barrel of a gun).

Contrast the Occupy movement with the TEA parties. No rapes. No robberies. No assaults. No public public masturbation (like at one Occupy gathering). No drugs or public drunkenness. Just peaceful protest against government takeovers, massive government debt, excessive taxation, and oppressive government regulation.

Christian fundamentalists arrested

According to Breitbart,
Paris police have arrested around 20 Christian fundamentalists who burst into a theatre and threw stink bombs to protest against a play featuring the face of Christ drizzled with fake excrement.
I don't condone the stink bombs but I dare the sponsors of this play to replace the picture of Christ with a picture of Muhammad and see what happens.

Occupy supporters can't tolerate free speech

According to Reuters,
Anonymous, a group of hackers that has previously attacked Sony and Bay Area Rapid Transit, said it will shut down the Fox News website on November 5.
It announced its intentions in a video on YouTube, citing Fox News' propaganda against the Occupy Wall Street movement as reason.
"Anonymous introduces Occupation Fox Hunt," the video's disembodied voice says. "It intends on destroying the Fox News website because their continued right-wing conservative propaganda can no longer be tolerated."
In other words, this anonymous group of Occupy supporters can no longer tolerate free speech..

What if your name meant "unwanted"?

What kind of twisted culture/religion gives their baby girls the name that literally means "unwanted"?

Imagine if the fact that your parents didn't want you was thrown in your face literally every time they called you name.

Imagine if the fact that your parents didn't want you was broadcast to your class every time your teacher called your name.

Imagine telling everyone you meet that your parents didn't want you every time you introduce yourself.

How utterly hateful and heartless would someone have to be to do this to a little child?

Mitt Romney on homosexuality

According to an article by Thomas Eddlem in New American, this is Mitt Romney on homosexuality:
Front-runner and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was noticeably absent from the forum. Perhaps his record as Governor of Massachusetts would have been difficult to explain. As Governor, he asked for doubling the funds for his Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, which had created a number of scandals in Massachusetts. The Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth was described by Massachusetts family activists as "perhaps the largest government-sanctioned promoter of the homosexual agenda to children in the United States." Romney eventually abolished the Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth by executive order because the legislature had created a more powerful "Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth," making the Governor's commission redundant. Romney's executive order said the commission had been abolished for fiscal rather than policy reasons, noting that it was abolished with an eye "to reducing duplication and bureaucracy, and to eliminating unnecessary boards and commissions."

Building electric cars in Finland--with your taxes!

While Barack Obama and Joe Biden go around accusing Republicans of wanting to cut police and teachers rather than to raise taxes on the wealthy, ABC news just published this revelation:
With the approval of the Obama administration, an electric car company that received a $529 million federal government loan guarantee is assembling its first line of cars in Finland, saying it could not find a facility in the United States capable of doing the work.
If Obama, Biden and the Democrats were really concerned about the police and teachers, maybe they would consider not wasting billions of tax dollars on various pork projects and use that money for police and teachers instead?

The Obama/Biden rhetoric is a dishonest as it is despicable.

The death of Gaddafi

Kudos to the Obama administration to taking out Gaddafi.

One thing puzzles me though. Many on the Left seem to think that 911 and other terrorist acts were the result of hatred generated against the U.S. due to our "meddling" in the Middle East (even though some of this "meddling" was with the direct support of other Middle Eastern Muslim countries, as for example when we came to Kuwait's defense under George H.W. Bush.

Yet now Barack Obama meddles in Libyan affairs and he apparently considers himself--and is seen by other Leftists--as a hero.

Why is it that when Republicans "meddle" in the Middle East the Left condemns them as monsters, but  when Democrats meddle in the Middle East the Left sees them as heroes?

Occupy Oakland descends into chaos

In marked contrast to the peaceful TEA Party protests, the Occupy Oakland protests have descended into chaos with drugs, drunkenness, and violence, including sexual assaults.

Struggle with security issues?  Can you imagine what the headline would read if this had been a TEA Party rally? Every mainline media outlet in the country would have covered it for weeks, long after it was over!

This is going on in Nancy Pelosi's back yard. These are the people she is supporting!

Mentally handicapped people chained

Here's a story about a woman who imprisoned a man in her closet and literally starved him to death!  And for reasons beyond understanding, she only served eight years for it! After she got out she helped to chain four mentally handicapped people in her basement in an attempt to steal their Social Security checks.

Sounds like a good argument for the death penalty. She certainly deserves it!

Ron Paul on eliminating cabinet departments

If elected, Ron Paul says he "would eliminate the Departments of Education, Commerce, Energy, Interior and Housing and Urban Development."

I'm not a Ron Paul supporter but I certainly agree with him on this!

Although the Environmental Protection Agency is not in the cabinet, I would also suggesting a total make-over of that department as well. It needs a complete philosophy change to make it more of a people protection agency.

In other words, this agency needs to have the ultimate goal not of protecting the environment, but protecting people. This agency should always weigh environmental concerns with human needs. In some cases the agency should come down on the side of the environment--as, for example, when some company is pouring toxic chemicals into the rivers. In other cases, people's jobs and livelihood should take priority over, for example, the existence snail darters or the comfort of caribou in the swamps of the Alaskan north slope.

Admittedly, it would often be hard to know where to draw the line, but the way it is now, it seems like the Environmental Protection Agency is overrun by radical tree-huggers who are much more concerned about "Mother Earth", i.e. trees, rocks and animals, than they are about human beings.

Responding to Iran's attempted attack

The Left's approach to foreign policy--exemplified in Barack Obama--seems to have been to assume that if we try hard enough to understand why other countries hate us, and apologize enough for all the real or perceived injustices we have done, and if we negotiate hard enough to come to compromises acceptable to our enemies--then we will have a world of love and peace.

In light of the Iranian government's recent attempt at terrorism on American soil I have to ask, how is that working out for you Mr. President?

Iran understands force. They do not care about sanctions or negotiations. If the United States does not respond in a way that lets Iran know in no uncertain terms that such acts of war will not be tolerated, Iran will be emboldened to continue their attacks against us.

We should negotiate with Iran, and while we are negotiating we should be amassing such an enormous military force in their neighborhood that it will encourage them to listen to reason.

Plot to kill Saudi ambassador in the U.S.

According to the Wall Street Journal:
One month to the day after the 10th anniversary of 9/11 comes a sobering moment in the history of the U.S. war on terror: The Department of Justice has charged that "factions of the Iranian government" plotted to assassinate Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States by blowing him up inside a Washington, D.C., restaurant.
Had it succeeded, this would have constituted an act of terror by the Islamic Republic of Iran on U.S. soil, and arguably an act of war.
Those who planned to carry out this act of terror reportedly came up through Mexico with the help of a Mexican drug cartel.

It is worth noting that this is just the kind of thing that Republicans have warned about, and that Democrats have poo-pooed. It is just the kind of thing that some Republicans have tried hard to stop with stronger border enforcement--only to be opposed at every turn by Democrats.

I suspect that our President will respond very strongly to this act of war--perhaps with a powerful and strongly worded speech. I also suspect that if John McCain had been President, the government of Iran wouldn't have dared to attempt such a thing on U.S. soil.

I hope I'm wrong about our President. If Obama does not provide some kind of significant response, Iran will just be emboldened to try again. If we are afraid to respond to Iran in the face of an act of war now, what will we do when they have nuclear weapons?

UPDATE: I just heard Secretary of State Clinton vowing to take action to isolate Iran even further. Whoa! I'm sure the Ayatollahs are shaking in their boots now!

Is the Mormon Church a cult as Rick Perry's pastor claims?

Rick Perry's Baptist pastor recently created a controversy when he called the Mormons a cult. Mitt Romney and others have vigorously protested.

The interesting thing about this is that Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and--and far as I know--virtually the entire Mormon Church has always considered Mormonism to be the one true church, and orthodox Christianity to have been apostate as far back as the second century (that's "orthodox" with a small "o" as opposed to the Orthodox Church). Yet, Mormons now apparently want to be considered part of Christianity.

So which is it? Is the Mormon Church just another legitimate branch of Christianity or is the Mormon Church the one true church and all the rest are apostate? They can't have it both ways--unless perhaps they teach one thing to their members and another thing publicly for political purposes.

The fact is that ever since the time of Joseph Smith, orthodox Christians have always considered Mormonism to be a cult and Mormons have always considered orthodox Christians to be apostate.

This is only a big story to religiously illiterate Americans who don't understand Christianity, and to journalists who need to stir up controversy to maintain their ratings.

As far as the election is concerned, I think Christians need to focus on the issues. Just because a candidate is Christian does not necessarily mean he or she would be a good President (after all, Jimmy Carter claimed to be a born again Christian (and Baptist), and yet he turned out to be one of the worst Presidents in American history).

Although Mitt Romney is a Mormon, he would be much, MUCH better than the President we currently have, (who claims to be a Christian).

Personally, I don't like Romney as a candidate nearly as well as I like Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, or even Rick Perry, but if Romney gets the nomination, I will have no problem supporting him for President over Obama.

"You can't legislate morality!" Really?

"You can't legislate morality."

I actually heard this phrase twice on TV today. What nonsense! Of course you can legislate morality.

We have laws against murder. That is legislating morality. We have laws against robbery. That's legislating morality. Can you imagine living in a society that did not even attempt to legislate against murder and robbery?

We have laws against prostitution, rape, child molestation, assault, burglary, public intoxication, vandalism, forgery, fraud, driving while intoxicated, drug abuse, arson--All of this is legislating morality!

The question is not whether you can legislate morality. The question is what morality should and should not be legislated.

Political donations and privacy rights

According to KTSP in Minneapolis:
The Campaign Finance and Disclosure Board on Tuesday approved a new "statement of guidance" on how the state's laws on political fundraising should be applied to ballot measure campaigns. The board says in some circumstances, groups funded by private donations that take sides on ballot measures will have to report the exact source of those donations with the state.
In California when opponents of gay marriage were made public they were often subject to intimidation and even violence by gay rights advocates. Why do I suspect that this is precisely the point of this new Minnesota legislation, i.e. to intimidate those who might donate to pass traditional family legislation.

Isn't it interesting how the Left is so adamant about the "right to privacy" when it comes to a woman's "right" to kill her unborn baby, but they trample over privacy rights when it comes to the privacy of donors or the rights of workers to have a private ballot when voting on unions?

Killing al-Awlaki an impeachable offense?

According to Politico: "Ron Paul said Monday that President Obama's targeted killing of Anwar al-Awlaki might be an impeachable offense."

There may be other things for which President Obama deserves impeachment (like failure to protect our borders) but his action against al-Awlaki is not one of them. For that, he deserves kudos!

On TV tonight someone commented that being a U.S. citizen would not necessarily prevent a bank robber from being shot and killed.

Seriously, Ron Paul scares me almost as much as Obama. If the election came down between Barack Obama and Ron Paul, I may just have to do a write-in protest vote on election day.

The Left's "obese-o-phobia"

According to Newsbusters,
"On Friday's 'Morning Joe,' during a discussion about obesity prompted by a pathetic column by the Washington Post's Eugene Robinson entitled, 'Christie's Hefty Burden,' MSNBC's Al Sharpton joked, 'So what I think we should do it put Governor Christie in jail for 90 days."
Strange. I don't recall any on the Left directing such hateful mockery at Michael Moore.  Read more about the Left's "obese-o-phobia."

Resistance is the only option?

"Hamas leader Khaled Meshal told an international conference in Iran on Saturday that "resistance" was the only option left for the Palestinians."

He makes it sound like Hamas has tried every peaceful option available and since nothing works, the only option left is resistance.

This from a group that has for years fired thousands of rockets at innocent Israeli civilians--men, women and children--all while the world sits idly by and does absolutely nothing!

I have another option. If Hamas would stop all its violence against Israel and acknowledge Israel's right to exist, we could have peace tomorrow.

They want you to pay for sex change operations

The GLBT activists started by asking for "tolerance." When they got that they started demanding acceptance. When they got that they started vilifying and punishing those who disagreed with their lifestyles. Now they want you to pay for their sex change operations!

The death of Anwar al-Awlaki

Today the man who absolutely crucified President Bush for waterboarding foreign enemy combatants, proudly got up an announced the killing of an an enemy combatant who was a U.S. citizen.

For some on the Left it is apparently evil to submit foreign terrorists to "enhanced interrogation" but it is OK to kill terrorists who are U.S. citizens.

I applaud the U.S. military for taking out Anwar al-Awlaki but the hypocrisy by some on the Left is so thick you would need a chainsaw to cut through it.

Iranian Christian pastor sentenced to death

An Iranian Christian pastor has been sentenced to death for refusing to convert to Islam.

Kudos to the Obama administration for publicly condemning the Iranian government for their violation of freedom of religion!

Giving the death penalty to Muslims who convert to other religions has gone on since the time of Muhammad. Muhammad himself personally ordered the execution of some who had turned back from his new religion of Islam. The difference in the Iranian case is that this pastor has never been Muslim! The Iranian supreme court is demanding that the pastor "return" to the religion of his "ancestors."

Islam is so intellectually weak and indefensible that the only way it can maintain its large numbers is by threats, intimidation and violence. Muslims who deny this should start a worldwide movement to allow true freedom of religion in Islam by removing all penalties, intimidations, and consequences for converting away from Islam.

Rewarding food-stamp dependency

You just couldn't make this stuff up:
In its quest to promote taxpayer-funded entitlement programs, the Obama Administration has actually rewarded one state with a $5 million bonus for its efficiency in adding food-stamp recipients to already bulging rolls.
Think of a drug dealer using incentives to get people addicted to his services so the people would be dependent on him and support him. That's the Obama administration! Such a blatant power grab is really pretty scary if you stop to think about it.

This crosses the line

Reported on WWLTTV New Orleans:
On Wednesday, crowds gathered at the corner of Calhoun and Coralie streets, looking at several signs depicting President Barack Obama as either a dunce, a puppet or a crying baby in a diaper.
Anyone who has read Recliner Commentaries for very long, knows that I think President Obama is one of the worst Presidents of all time, and yet, I think this billboard is despicable.

We can disagree with our President. We can attack his policies. We can point out his inconsistencies, flaws and even lies. But to depict him as a crying baby in a diaper crosses the line. It not only disrespects the office of the Presidency but it reflects poorly on "we the people."

We can strongly disagree and advocate for our position without personally insulting and demeaning the man. I think Republicans should strongly denounce this disgusting and hateful ad campaign.

Discrimination and Freedom of Religion

Freedom of Religion MUST include the idea that religious groups have the right to limit members to those who agree with their views. Otherwise it is not freedom. Atheists could join in sufficient numbers and vote to make the group atheist!

This doesn't just apply to religion but to every organization. Gay groups should have the right to limit membership to gay's only. Democrat groups should have the right to limit membership to Democrats only. Atheist groups should have the right to limit membership to atheists. As seen in this article, anti-discrimination rules and laws are being used to destroy freedom and even to trump the Constitution.

Granted, some discrimination is evil--like discrimination against people because of their skin color. But the freedom of discriminate on the basis of viewpoint is essential to freedom, both Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Speech.

Frankly, I think someone needs to make this point. For example, non-gays should join a gay organization in overwhelming numbers and then use their majority to vote to shut down the group. That would probably put an end to this nonsense immediately.

Obama confusing Jews and janitors

In a recent speech President Obama said,
If asking a billionaire to pay the same tax rate as a Jew, uh, as a janitor makes me a warrior for the working class, I wear that with a badge of honor. I have no problem with that.
No big deal. It's just a slip of the tongue. But if Michelle Bachmann had made the same slip you can bet your bottom dollar that it would have been on NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, many of the major newspapers and all of the liberal blogs--and most of them would have been charging her with anti-Semitism.

More Obama lies

Nationally syndicated columnist, Deroy Murdock calls Obama out on his "do nothing congress" lies. After documenting his case Murdock concludes:
Obama can disagree with every piece of paper passed by the GOP House. But when he slyly bashes Republicans by accusing “this Congress” of “doing nothing,” he simply is lying through his teeth. If Obama wants the entire Congress to get something done, he should tell Harry Reid to wake up and do his job.
Please take time to read this short but excellent article.

About a week ago I woke up one night with pain in my upper abdomen. When it wouldn't go away I went to the emergency room. After a series of tests they told me what they thought the problem was and said that in some cases the problem goes away on its own. If it didn't go away, they said I would need surgery. They admitted me to the hospital for observation.

By the middle of the next day I was in such excruciating pain that I would have preferred to die. The surgeon said that the tests did not indicate that I should be in that much pain, but since I was obviously in extreme pain, he took me in to surgery saying that he may not find anything.

It turns out that the problem was obvious and he was able to fix it (I am recovering well, thank you).

That got me to thinking. What if Obamacare had been fully implemented? What if my test results were forwarded up the line to some bureaucrat who determined that I really shouldn't be in that much pain and therefore, the bureaucrat would  not authorize the surgery?

In other words, what if the surgery decision had been taken out of the hands of my surgeon? I could have been left suffering unbearably excruciating pain just because some bureaucrat didn't think my test results justified surgery!

Obamacare is a nightmare!

A pilot scheduled to fly a hijacked plane on 9/11

Powerful story of the pilot who was scheduled to fly one of planes that was hijacked on 9/11. It's 15 minutes long but it goes fast and is well worth your time (Hat tip: W. Johnson).

Here's another perspective on the observance of 9/11.

Covering up Obama's gaff

It's one thing to have a decidedly Left bias, but when you deliberately alter your sources to cover up your man's blunder--as PBS has done--you have moved from journalism to blatant propaganda!

Evangelicals need not attend

The Washington National Cathedral will be holding a 9/11 interfaith prayer vigil. It will include, "a rabbi, Buddhist nun and incarnate lama, a Hindu priest, the president of the Islamic Society of North America and a Muslim musician.

No evangelicals were invited. "Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, told Fox News Radio the lineup was better suited for the United Nations than the United States."

My question is this: Why would Evangelicals want to attend anyway? Somehow I can't imagine Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah or other great Jewish prophets attending an interfaith prayer conference with the prophets of Ba'al or the priests of Molech, etc.

When Paul traveled through Lystra he could undoubtedly have saved himself a lot of trouble by organizing an interfaith prayer meeting rather than telling the people they should turn from their religions to serve the true God who made heaven and earth (Acts 14:11-15). The same is true in Ephesus where Paul persuaded many people that their religions were false religions (Acts 19:23-27).

I think Evangelicals are right to point out that this is political correctness gone amok, but they should organize their own prayer vigil and avoid the apostate National Cathedral like the plague.

"Let's take these son's of bitches out"

Talking about engaging in a war against the TEA party, the Teamsters' president said,"Let's take these son's of bitches out."

He was apparently warming up for Obama who was to speak next. What I'd like to know is whether President Obama publicly renounced such violent, intolerant, uncivil and very over-the-top rhetoric?

I think both the Teamsters' president and President Obama owe the American people an apology.

White supremacist group to protest

A white supremacist group is planning to hold a rally in protest against the back racist thugs who attacked white people at the Wisconsin State Fair.

Ironically, the two groups have much more in common than they realize. They are united in their racist hatred. Their differences are only skin deep.

Spreading racism

It is slanderous rhetoric like this that perpetuates the racism in this country!

Three daughters slaughtered because they were raped!

In Libya, Gadhafi's troops raped a man's three daughters age 15, 17, and 18. The father then slit the throat of his three daughters for the shame they brought on the family for being raped!

It is impossible for me to understand such such atrocity except in terms of satanic blindness.

Iran: Israel must be eradicated!

According to Ahmadinejad, "Iran believes that whoever is for humanity should also be for eradicating the Zionist regime (Israel) as symbol of suppression and discrimination..."

And yet the U.S. under both Bush and Obama stands idly by while Iran develops nuclear weapons. We are watching a force even more dangerous than Nazi Germany develop before our eyes and Barack (Neville Chamberlain) Obama seems to think we can negotiate with them! Unbelievable! Criminal!

Obama, Bush and being "unpatriotic"

In 2008 candidate Obama--now Commander-in-Chief of tolerance and civility--flat out called President Bush "unpatriotic" for spending so much money. Obama was right to call Bush out on this. However, as Paul Harvey used to say, there is "the rest of the story." This has been on numerous news and blog outlets. In case you haven't seen it, this is what candidate Obama said in 2008:
“The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion dollars for the first 42 presidents -- number 43 added $4 trillion dollars by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion dollars of debt that we are going to have to pay back -- $30,000 for every man, woman and child,” Obama said on July 3, 2008, at a campaign event in Fargo, N.D.“That's irresponsible. It's unpatriotic,” said candidate Obama.
What took Bush eight years to do in the wake of 911 and Hurricane Katrina, Obama has done in only two years! He is either--by his own condemnation--"unpatriotic," or he owes Bush a huge apology.

"Homosexual men account for 61% of the new HIV infections"

According to Lifesite News: "The U.S. Centers for Disease Control has estimated that practicing homosexual men account for 61% of the new HIV infections in the United States while they only amount to about 2% of the country’s population."  So much for the lies about HIV being a "Heterosexual" disease.

Somehow our society (and many Christians too) have bought into the idea that promoting homosexual behavior is somehow "compassionate." We encourage people to stop smoking because it is bad for their health (and significantly increases health care costs), why would we promote male homosexual behavior?

Encouraging behavior that results in horrible deaths is not compassionate. It is cruel.

Israel attacked from Gaza--again.

According to Reuters, "More than 50 rockets fired from Gaza, Israeli killed." One of the rockets fell on a school.

I'll wait to hear the outrage from the mainstream media, Hollywood and the United Nations, but I won't hold my breath. At this point, I'd just like to hear some outrage from our own President!

Since Israel (rightfully) responded to the attacks, many will treat this as if both parties are at fault--which is absurd.

Peace in the Middle East is really not all that complicated. If Muslims would stop attacking Israel, we would have peace. If Muslim nations would recognize Israel's right to exist, establish normal relations, and crack down on Muslim radicals who are trying to kill innocent Jews, we would not only have peace but some degree of unity.

Thomas Sowell on Social Degradation

Thomas Sowell has published an absolutely outstanding set of articles on the social degradation taking place in  American and England. Here are some excerpts:
A recent study in England found 352,000 households in which nobody had ever worked. Moreover, two-thirds of the adults in those households said that they didn't want to work. As in America, such people feel both "entitled" and aggrieved.
In both countries, those who have achieved less have been taught by the educational system, by the media and by politicians on the left that they have a grievance against those who have achieved more. As in the United States, they feel a fierce sense of resentment against strangers who have done nothing to them, and lash out violently against those strangers.
But such barbarism was not nearly as widespread two generations ago, in the middle of the 20th century. Were there no disparities or inequities then? Actually there were more.
What is different today is that there has been -- for decades -- a steady drumbeat of media and political hype about differences in income, education and other outcomes, blaming these differences on oppression against those with fewer achievements or lesser prosperity.
The orgies of violent attacks against strangers on the streets -- in both England and the United States -- are not necessarily just passing episodes. They should be wake-up calls, warning of the continuing degeneration of Western society.
If you only have time to read one set of articles this month, please take time to read these!

Obama and America's Muslim heritage

Judging from the President's remarks, you'd never guess that one of the very first wars fought in this country was against North African Muslim nations that were capturing our merchant ships and selling Americans into slavery!

Since grade school, Americans have been endlessly indoctrinated and shamed by the evil of enslaving Africans (and rightly so!), but we never hear about the fact that African Muslims were enslaving Americans!  My guess is that the vast majority of Americans--possibly even including our President--don't have a clue.

Intimidation and the Left

When does over-regulation slide into tyranny?

According to the Gazette Virginian:
A new rule being proposed by the federal Department of Transportation would require farmers to get commercial drivers licenses.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which is a part of DOT, wants to adopt standards that would reclassify all farm vehicles and implements as Commercial Motor Vehicles, officials said. Likewise, the proposal, if adopted, would require all farmers and everyone on the farm who operates any of the equipment to obtain a CDL, they added.
The proposed rule change would mean that anyone who drives a tractor or operates any piece of motorized farming equipment would be required to pass the same tests and complete the same detailed forms and logs required of semi-tractor trailer drivers.
Is there anything the Obama administration doesn't want to regulate (and tax)? When does overregulation slide into tyranny? I think our founding fathers would say we've already crossed the line.

Racist flash mobs and hate crimes

Fox News is reporting:
Police departments in several cities around the country are investigating what appear to be incidents of "flash mob"-generated violence, in which packs of dozens or even hundreds of youths appear seemingly out of nowhere to commit assaults, robberies and other crimes against innocent bystanders.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the attacks that have resulted in numerous arrests around the country are being investigated -- and law enforcement officials in at least one city are looking into a possible racial component to the crimes.
Later on, the article says,
The motive and circumstances surrounding the attacks that have resulted in numerous arrests around the country are being investigated -- and law enforcement officials in at least one city are looking into a possible racial component to the crimes.
Really? Only one city is looking into this? Isn't Milwaukee looking into this also? Why is no one talking about "hate crimes?" (Short answer: "Hate crime" is a club used very selectively. It is much more about politics than justice).

Philadelphia's black mayor addressed a black congregation saying,
If you want …anybody else to respect you and not be afraid when they see you walking down the street, then leave the innocent people who are walking down the street minding their own damn business. Leave them alone,"
For decades the evil of racism was pounded into white audiences--and rightly so. The problem is that black audiences were apparently not hearing about the evils of racism. They were apparently just hearing about how evil white people are--which is itself racism! It is long past time that the black community start addressing racism in this own community. In other words, we need more like Philadelphia's mayor.

These racist flash-mob thugs play right into the hands of white supremacist groups. Its not as if such groups needed an excuse to hate black people--hatred doesn't need legitimate reasons or excuses--but theses mob attacks give white supremacists ammo for their hateful agendas. These racist flash mobs also give reason for non-blacks to be afraid of black people.

One of my granddaughters--one of the joy's of my life!--is black. I don't want her to be tainted by the racist violence perpetrated by a bunch of violent thugs.

Angry MoveOn Mob Threatens to Kick Down Boehner’s Door

The War on Wealth is wrong

Michael Medved has an excellent article on taxing the rich in Townhall today, entitled, "The war on wealth isn't just stupid--its wrong." Here is an excerpt:
When President Obama pushes the idea of “taxing the rich” he’s actually talking about taxing those who are trying to get rich. His desired wealth increases won’t so much impact the “millionaires and billionaires” who draw his derision as it will cripple those eager strivers who hope someday to become millionaires and billionaires. The federal tax authorities don’t go after wealth but rather grab their share from income, hampering earning not luxurious living.
This explains the puzzling predisposition of progressive plutocrats who live primarily off their investments (or who won life’s lottery with inherited fortunes like the Kennedys or Rockefellers) to favor high tax rates on top earners. It’s not really noble or unselfish for those who have already earned their pile to seek to place new obstacles on hard-driving, up-and-coming challengers who seek to enter the charmed circle of privilege.
Please take time to read the entire article.

Christianity and the media

On local TV news (KSTP) there was a story about "Feed My Starving Children" in the Minneapolis area. Feed my Starving Children sends thousands and thousands of meals to poverty stricken areas overseas. To save money--thereby enabling the organization to send even more meals--all of these thousands of meals are assembled and packaged entirely by volunteers.

I was very disappointed that KSTP didn't bother to mention that this is an Evangelical Christian organization! The media is quick to broadcast the failures of Christian leaders but they are not so quick to tell of all the incredible and positive things Christians do in the world.

Because of the anti-Christian bias of TV news and Hollywood (and some atheist propaganda as well), the non-church-going public is left with the impression that Christians are all a bunch of hypocrites or ignorant gun-toting rednecks who make no contribution to society!

I guess I can't blame them. If all I knew about Evangelical Christians was what I saw on TV (or read in atheist books), I'd probably oppose Christians too.

545 vs 300,000,000 people

The following is making the rounds on the internet--I think it has been for quite some time. I thought I'd help it along (Hat tip: Professor ed).

I think we have to remember that these 545 people are in power because "we the people" put them there (or sat home on election day and allowed our neighbors to put them there).

I think we should also remember that each congressperson is only one voice among 545--which is why we need to ensure that our members of congress are not part of the problem. Otherwise, I think the Mr. Reese makes a good point.

545 vs. 300,000,000 People
-By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
That separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House now? He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.
If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan ...
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees...
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Racism in Milwaukee

Mobs of black people beat white victims at the state fair in Milwaukee. Will these thugs be charged with hate crimes? Will the national news media pick up on this?

If this was a story of white mobs attacking innocent black victims it would be on every news outlet in the country for weeks on end.

I hope I'm wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me if the national media pretty much ignores it. It wouldn't be politically correct to focus on black racism.

When our society focuses on the problem of white racism but ignores the problem of black racism, they are saying, in effect, that racism against white people is OK. That is every bit as racist as the attitudes exhibited by the KKK sixty years ago. Apparently the racism hasn't changed. The only thing that has changed is the object of that racism.

Racism is deplorable, regardless of the skin color of the perpetrators.

Forcing Christian groups to admit non-Christians

According to Christianity Today, the 9th Circuit Court ruled that the California State University system can force Christian groups to admit non-Christians!

If any advocacy groups--environmental advocacy groups, gay rights groups, women's rights groups, Democrat groups, Republican groups, atheist groups--cannot limit their membership to those who agree with their core principles, the existence of the group is threatened, and so is their voice, their speech!

The Court apparently argued that the university system did not intend to violate anyone's First Amendment rights--as if it is OK to violate someones Constitutional rights as long as you didn't intend to do so!

I don't know the whole story. I haven't read the case. But on the surface it looks like these judges are either just plain stupid or they judicial activists with a blatantly anti-Christian agenda.

Games the Left play with opinion polls

Want a poll that shows most Americans support same-sex marriage? No problem. Just be sure to poll an audience that supports same sex marriage!  That is apparently what one major polling organization did (and even admitted it in the fine print).  Please take time to read the story.

Increasingly in the post-modern world, polls are not about getting at the truth (how could they be? Post-modernism doesn't believe in truth). They are about pushing an agenda!

Multiculturalism and Iranian acid attacks

In my experience those who advocate multiculturalism generally tend to focus on superficial elements of culture like food and clothes while they seem to assume that all cultures are basically good.

Here is a story from Iran that really helps put some deep cultural differences in perspective. The fact that the acid attacks described in this story are said to be common in Iran is shocking from a Western cultural perspective.

But then there is also the "eye for an eye" punishment which permits the woman to pour acid in the eye of her attacker as a legal punishment!

While westerners are shocked by what they consider to be a  barbaric punishment, westerners somehow fail to come to grips with the monumental injustice that would be done by western-style punishment. In the west the perpetrator would serve a few years in prison and then be free to live the rest of his life as if nothing had ever happened.

Meanwhile his victim, a once beautiful woman, will live the rest of her life blind and disfigured by horrible acid scars. Somehow in the west, we think this is justice! We care more for the perpetrator than for the victim!

But finally, there is the beautiful end to the story as the victim finally comes to grips with her need for revenge and instead shows amazing grace, forgives her attacker and allows him to keep his eyes.

I can almost picture this woman--like the Good Samaritan--as the hero of one of Jesus' stories as he concludes, "go thou and do likewise."

U.N. standing up for sexual rights of children!

CNSNews has an excellent article entitled, "U.N. Group Stands up for Children's Sexual and Reproductive Rights, Including Abortion." Cutting to the chase, the bottom line is:
“Offering confidentiality to minors not only violates parents’ rights, it protects sex offenders, rapists, molesters, and child sex traffickers. It also exposes the child to additional exploitation. This is well documented in the United States where Planned Parenthood has been caught on video ignoring mandatory reporting laws on suspected rape or child abuse and coaching young girls to lie on admission forms. All this is done under the guise of serving and protecting youth.
I've got an idea to help trim the budget. Cut off the United Nations and turn their New York building into a high rise apartment or office complex.

Please take time to read the article.

Censorship in public libraries

This just came in an e-mail from the ADF:
Author Ilene Vick submitted an application to reserve a public meeting room at the Putnam County Library in Tennessee to hold a group discussion about a Christian book she wrote. The library director informed her that the room was available, and then asked what her book was about. That’s when Ilene was told that library policy forbids the use of its public rooms for religious purposes – and her request was denied.
What happened to the "Library Bill of Rights" and library opposition to censorship? Apparently those "core" library principles only applied to the protection of sexual deviancy in magazines, books and on the internet.

NASA debunks global warming myth

According to an article in Forbes,
NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth's atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxidetrap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.
On the other hand some (myself included) suspect that global warming was never about science. It was really about increasing socialism and government control.

A cure for Sickle cell anemia

According to NIH News,
A modified blood adult stem-cell transplant regimen has effectively reversed sickle cell disease in 9 of 10 adults who had been severely affected by the disease, according to results of a National Institutes of Health study in the Dec. 10 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
A cure for Sickle cell anemia?!  This is huge and exciting! But the news is a year and a half old. Why am I just hearing about it today? I would have thought that this would be on every news outlet in the country.

California requirement to teach gay history

According to the Huffington Post,
California lawmakers on Tuesday sent the governor a bill that would make the state the first requiring public schools to include the contributions of gays and lesbians in social studies curriculum.
The bill, passed on a party-line vote, adds lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people as well as people with disabilities to the list of groups that schools must include in the lessons. It also would prohibit material that reflects adversely on gays.
"Prohibit material that reflects adversely on gays?" Maybe we should include a clause the prohibits material that reflects adversely on Americans? Maybe we should stop teaching history regarding the taking of Indian lands or the horrors of slavery since such teaching may cause someone's feelings to be hurt? What nonsense!

What kind of "history" is it when only positive contributions can be selected? That's not history. It is propaganda. Worse than propaganda, this bill is a postmodern, manipulative, oppressive power play designed to legitimize perverted behaviors and to de-legitimize and villainize people of traditional faith.

Attorneys' freedom under attack in Arizona

According to the ADF,
Dozens of individual Arizona attorneys, including some affiliated with the Alliance Defense Fund, filed a letter Friday that asks the Arizona Supreme Court to reject a proposed amendment to attorney ethical rules that would create significant threats to the constitutionally protected rights of many Arizona attorneys....
The proposed amendment would prohibit attorneys, in many instances, from expressing views that others might perceive as “biased” based on “sexual orientation” and “gender identity or expression.” The rule could be used to discipline lawyers who advocate for certain legal positions, including the view that the law should protect and preserve marriage as the unique union of a man and a woman.
Just the fact that such an assault on freedom would be proposed in America is frightening! This is yet another example of a gay activist version of "tolerance."

The heat wave, electric cars and the power grid

According to the Associated Press,
A lengthy, blistering heat wave that is blanketing the eastern half of the United States is putting significant stress on the nation's power grid as homeowners and businesses crank up their air conditioners.
Just out of curiosity, what will happen to the power grid if a significant number of Americans ever start buying electric cars that need to be plugged in every day?

One on seven Americans live in poverty--that's what our government tells the rest of the world. That's what the Left uses to justify more and more entitlement programs and higher and higher taxes.

So you think you know what poverty is?  Over 95% of American living in "poverty" have a stove, oven, refrigerator, and Television. About 80% have a microwave and air conditioning.

People who live in real poverty in other countries would think such people are rich!

Please take time to read, "Modern Poverty includes A.C. and an Xbox."
