The takeover of Puerto Rico

The House of Representatives cleared the way Thursday for Puerto Rico to become a state. This would be fine if the people of Puerto Rico wanted to become a state, but they have voted against statehood three times!

Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory and its residents are U.S. citizens, but they don not pay U.S. federal income tax. My guess is that Democrats want Puerto Rico's money and that this congressional bill, if approved by the Democrats in the Senate, will pave the way for some Chicago-style politics to coerce Puerto Rico to become a state.

The Democrats, of course, are too politically correct to take over Puerto Rico with military force. They'll do it with payoffs, threats, and back door deals, just like they rammed universal health care down our throats.
