35th anniversary of the fall of Saigon

"Professor Ed" is a long-time reader of Recliner Commentaries. He just sent me the following e-mail which I am posting with his permission.

Dear Dennis

I saw the following posting on Facebook:

"Today is the 35th anniversary of the fall of Saigon. US exits the Vietnam War. Welcome home to all Vietnam Veterans!"

Yes, I totally agree with the above welcome home...

And to all our liberal folk who burned their draft cards, sang anti-war songs, marched in our streets, and verbally (and occasionally physically) assaulted many of our returning veterans ("baby killers"), I ask the following question:

Do you believe Ho Chi Min (Saigon) City is better off today than it was during the american presence?

Sincerely,

Ed

I agree completely. In a follow up e-mail Ed pointed out all the blood that was shed by our rapid (and in my opinion, disgraceful) withdrawal. But regardless, our veterans deserved much better than they received from all the Leftist anti-war protesters (some of whom are probably now in Congress!)
