Patriot Act, Gitmo, and the war in Iraq

According to the Associated Press, President Obama recently signed an extension of the Patriot Act.

Wasn't the Patriot Act one of those issues that made the Left absolutely hysterical? Where's the hysteria now?

After a year in office, Obama still has not closed Gitmo--another one of those red herrings the Left used to crucify George Bush. Where's all the Left wing fury now?

True, Obama no longer uses water-boarding on terrorists. He just turns them over to Pakistan where water-boarding would probably seem like a slap on the wrist compared to Pakistani interrogations. Again, not a peep from the Left.

After a year in office we are no closer to being out of Iraq either. Refusal to set a time table for surrender, er, withdrawal, was one of those issues that kept McCain from being elected. Not only that but we are increasingly ore involved in a war in Afghanistan--and unlike Iraq, no one ever thought Afghanistan had WMD! Where is Code Pink now?

It is hard to avoid the conclusion that all the Left wing hysteria about the Patriot Act, water-boarding, Gitmo and the war in Iraq were not really about what they thought was best for America. It was all nothing more than dishonest tactics to get back in power.
