Civil unions for heterosexual couples?

A heterosexual couple--yes, heterosexual--is challenging Austria's law that allows for civil partnerships for homosexual couples. The law apparently does not allow heterosexual couples to have civil partnership benefits. The heterosexual couple say the law is discriminatory and plan to argue their case before Austria's constitutional court. See the link at ADF.

Once marriage is redefined to include same-sex unions, the boundaries will have been broken down and there is really no logical reason to exclude heterosexual couples, siblings, or polyamory.

And advocates of these alternative lifestyles don't seem to care much about what happens to children in such arrangements.
