Shooter under siege

This morning Seattle SWAT teams have trapped a suspect in the killing of our police officers. They have confirmed that the suspect has been shot. In fact, he may even be dead.

I hope so. Perhaps if the criminal justice system had taken this guy more seriously, the four police officers would still be alive. The suspect has a violent history. According to the Seattle Times,
His criminal history includes at least five felony convictions in Arkansas and at least eight felony charges in Washington. That record also stands out for the number of times Clemmons has been released from custody despite questions about the danger he posed.

Mike Huckabee, while governor of Arkansas, granted clemency to Clemmons nine years ago, commuting his lengthy prison sentence over the protests of prosecutors.

The felony charges against him include the rape of a child and assault on a police officer!

That this man was walking free after so many serious convictions is disgraceful! We really need to take a serious look at our criminal justice system.
