ACORN and Eric Holder

Matthew Vadum writes,
Attorney General Eric Holder has made it abundantly clear he has absolutely no interest in investigating his radical friends at ACORN.

Holder’s Justice Department released a legal opinion last week that allows the Obama administration to ignore the will of Congress which has voted overwhelmingly to suspend federal funding of ACORN until at least Dec. 18. He’s also ignored the 88-page report on ACORN’s systemic corruption and flagrant racketeering activities that was issued this summer by Republican investigators on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Apparently, public outrage at the continuing antics of the corrupt radical advocacy group that used to employ President Obama and White House political director Patrick Gaspard counts for nothing.

Iran's $20,000,000 budget against the West

While Obama extends an "open hand" to Iran, they have responded with a two-fisted smack-down! Iran's parliament has approved a 20 million dollar budget for anti-western activities including money for groups waging jihad against the West!

Global warming documents tossed

According to TimesOnline:

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.

The real question now is whether the Obama administration will continue to press toward its cap and trade fiasco as if this fraud had never been exposed.

Sudanese girl gets 50 lashes

It never ceases to amaze me how Leftists can get so worked up about the humiliation of some terrorists who are sworn to kill us, but when something like this happens (over and over and over again) their silence is deafening! Where are the feminists?

Questions about Jesus

Has the tomb of Jesus and his family been discovered at Talpiot?

Did Jesus survive the crucifixion?

Was Jesus really even crucified? (The Qur'an denies this)

What about the "Jesus Papers" i.e. the reported discovery of two papyrus documents dating back to the time of Jesus' crucifixion?

Were the ancient New Testament documents been tampered with?

How can anyone trust ancient New Testament manuscripts if they contain 200,000 to 400,000 differences as some charge?

In the first and second century, was their "Christianity" or were there "Christianities?

Why were some gospels left out of the Bible, e.g. The Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of Mary, The Gospel of Judas, etc.

Was Jesus married?

What about the homoerotic "Secret Gospel of Mark"?

Was the virgin birth story copied from previous myths about virgin births?

Isn't the resurrection of Jesus just a myth based on ancient myths of the dying and raising gods in other religions?

Were the stories about Jesus in the Gospels based on stories about Mithras, Osiris, Adonis, Attis, Marduk, Cybele, Tammuz and other ancient mystery religions?

Was Paul's sighting of Jesus just a hallucination due to heat, guilt or stress?

Did Paul think Jesus had just risen "spiritually" and not physically?

Was Jesus' dead body relocated?

Can we really know what happened in ancient history at all?

Isn't it all just a matter of interpretation anyway?

Lee Strobel, whose education is in law and journalism, leaves no stone unturned searching for answers to these and other questions as he interviews Ph.D's who are experts in the historical study of Jesus.

The interviews and answers are recorded in his book, The Case for the Real Jesus, which is much more substantive than his previous best-seller, The Case for Christ.

The book does an excellent job of bringing the arguments of scholars down to a level that non-scholars can not only understand, but will probably find enjoyable.

My only criticism of the book is that the dialogue sounds a bit contrived and even corny at times, but the dialogue helps to keep the book interesting.

I highly recommend The Case for the Real Jesus for every Christian regardless of your denomination.

I also recommend the book to non-Christians who are open-minded and want to be aware of the issues. Even if the book doesn't convince you, it may help you separate the real issues from some of the nonsensical theories floating around.

On reincarnation

Philosopher, Dr. Paul Copan speaking to journalist Lee Strobel:
"Some people in the West see reincarnation as another crack at life in order to get things right, sort of like the movie Groundhog Day. There is an attraction to saying we have many opportunities an not just one lifetime. Actually, the reality is quite different." He gestured toward me. "You've been to India, right?"

"I've spent some time there, yes," I said.

"I have too. And I'm sure you've noticed that reincarnation is a very oppressive burden in that Hindu culture, as it is in the Buddhist world," He said. "For example, if you're a low caste or no caste Hindu, then you're stuck at that low level because that's what you deserve from your previous life. And people shouldn't reach out to help you, because they might jeopardize their own karma by interfering with you living out the miserable existence that you deserve."

I knew he was right. What sounds on the surface like a magnanimous belief that gives people multiple opportunities to live a better life turns out to create a devastating situation for millions upon millions of people who are mired in hopeless poverty day to day (Strobel, Lee. The Case for the Real Jesus. Grand Rapids : Zondervan, 2007, 241-242).
Buy the book.

If I were a novelist....

I sometimes wish I were a novelist. I'd like to write a novel about a group of power-hungry elites who want to take over the United States. They know they can't do it by force or even by direct political action, so what can they do?

These elites remember that before World War II, money became worthless in Germany and Germans became so impoverished that they were willing to vote for anyone who would promise to restore their country.

That's it! The elites determine to deliberately torpedo the U.S. economy by sinking the country into such irrecoverable debt that money becomes worthless. Meanwhile, they demonize their enemies and establish policies that make unemployment skyrocket and put U.S. security at such risk that Americans will fall for anyone, anything, any proposal that promises recovery and security....

Naw, forget about it. No one would ever believe it......but I bet it could be a real page turner!

Global warming and Obama's climate czar

I could be wrong but I would have sworn that candidate Obama promised the American people that there would be no conflicts of interest in his administration. As it turns out, his climate czar "was on the board of one of the leading carbon offset trading companies."

Sounds like a pretty major conflict of interest to me. Global warming was never about global warming. It was about money and power.

It is long past time that Congress put an end to this practice of appointing "czars" who are not subject to congressional confirmation.

See Big Government for the story.

Best Buy: "Happy Eid al-dha

The American Family Association has a list of companies that are "for Christmas," companies that marginalize Christmas and companies that are "against Christmas."

One company on the "against Christmas" list is Best Buy.

Best Buy's apparent contempt for Christmas is not just due to a desire to be religion-neutral since they have no problem wishing Muslims Happy Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice).

I don't mind that Best Buy wishes Muslims happy Eid al-Adha. I do mind that they wish Muslims Happy Eid al-Adha but will not wish others a Merry Christmas. That strikes me as politically correct bigotry.

I think I'll take my Christmas business elsewhere this year.

More on climategate

Excellent article: "Climategate; its the totalitarianism, stupid!"

The importance of gratitude

"For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks..." (Romans 1:21). Did you take time to thank God for all your blessings yesterday.....or were you too busy enjoying family, friends, and a huge meal?

Hate crimes against Muslims and Jews

A Muslim Jihadist slaughters innocent American soldiers at Fort Hood and apologists for Islam--including some from the highest levels of our own government--immediately started expressing concern for the imagined anti-Islamic backlash.

There is a pattern of hate crimes in this country but it is not against Muslims. The most recent FBI statistics show that it is against Jews! Of 1,732 anti-religious hate crimes, over 66% were against Jews (Now let's see....which group is known for its pervasive and often violent anti-Jewish bias?) while only 7.5% were against Muslims (and there is good reason to believe that this number is significantly inflated)!

There were even more hate crimes against Christians (8.7%) than against Muslims!

See the breakdown, along with a link to the FBI statistics, at Creeping Sharia.

Climategate e-mails now available

The Climate Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia has been described as the "Pentagon" of climate research. They are apparently one of the most significant centers of research on global warming in the world.

Then their e-mail's were hacked, allegedly showing a pattern of doctoring evidence and deliberate deception, propagating one of the biggest scientific frauds the world has ever known.

Now the e-mails have been made public. You can read them at the Climategate Document Database.

According to an article in the Wall Street Journal:
In short, the impression left by the correspondence among Messrs. Mann and Jones and others is that the climate-tracking game has been rigged from the start.
And

The response to this among the defenders of Mr. Mann and his circle has been that even if they did disparage doubters and exclude contrary points of view, theirs is still the best climate science we've got. The proof for this is circular. It's the best, we're told, because it's the most-published and most-cited—in that same peer-reviewed literature.

Even so, by rigging the rules, they've made it impossible to know how good it really is. And then, one is left to wonder why they felt the need to rig the game in the first place, if their science is as robust as they claim. If there's an innocent explanation for that, we'd love to hear it.

So would I.

President Obama: A new record

I'd like to start a movement to have President Obama included in the Guinness Book of World Records. According to Fox News:
President Obama has shattered the budget record for first-year presidents -- spending nearly double what his predecessor did when he came into office and far exceeding the first-year tabs for any other U.S. president in history.
Congratulations, Mr. President!

Scientific manipulation by progressives

Required beliefs at state universities?

Is the University of Minnesota College of Education planning to implement an unconstitutional litmus test mandating certain beliefs or "dispositions" as a requirement for graduation? Read Ed Morrissey's article on Hot Air.

What's next, a secular doctrinal statement? Doctrinal statements are fine at private universities and colleges but not at publicly funded state universities.

When the time comes that tax-funded, state universities can get away with requiring graduates to hold to certain politically correct, state-sanctioned beliefs or "dispositions," American democracy and freedom will have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel!

The Jesus Papers

The Jesus Papers is a bestselling book by Michael Baigent describing the supposed discovery of two ancient documents, written in Aramaic, in which "The writer calls himself 'the Messiah of the children of Israel" and says he "never intended to claim that he was God..."

Craig Evans, one of the world's foremost Jesus scholars, was asked about this.
Baigent describes how he went into a walk-in safe of an antiquities collector and saw the papyri under glass. He couldn't take a picture of them, of course. He has admitted that he doesn't read Aramaic and said the other guy doesn't either--so how does he know what they say? He's assured that two well-known archaeologists, Yigael Yadin and Nahman Avigad, have confirmed it. Oh, but did I mention that Yadin and Avigad are dead?

So we have an author with dubious credibility in the first place; an antiquities dealer who can't be identified; documents that Baigent can't read or produce and for which we have no translation or verification; and two archaeologists who are dead. This is just the dumbest thing (Craig Evans as quoted in The Case for the Real Jesus by Lee Strobel. Grand Rapids : Zondervan, 2007. 52-53).
Yep. But the fact that it is nonsense doesn't stop gullible people from believing it.

Balanced budget amendment

There is another good article on Big Government this morning. Please read the entire article but here are a few excerpts:
Congress will vote in December to extend America’s indebtedness above $12,100,000,000,000, necessitated because our national debt grew last year by more than $1,400,000,000,000 and will grow this year by $1,400,000,000,000. According to the Obama White House estimates, the national debt will continue to grow by more than $1 trillion for the next nine years. Except it won’t…because it can’t. There just isn’t $9 Trillion to borrow.

Three of the five largest holders of US debt should cause you sleepless nights. We owe China the most, $797 billion — 38.9% more than we did just 12 months ago. We owe Oil Exporting Countries $189.2 billion – 11.5% more than just 12 months ago. And we owe Caribbean Banking Centers (thought to hold billions in narco-terrorist money) $180.2 billion – 35.5% more than just 12 months ago. Japan and the United Kingdom round out the top five foreign debt holders, with our debt to the UK increasing an astonishing 173% in just the last 12 months.

(That “lock-box” presidential candidates like to talk about has never existed. The Social Security ponzi scheme makes Bernie Madoff look like a wayward kid shoplifting a pack of gum.)

If we do not balance the budget by the time Social Security moves to permanent deficit in 2016, we almost assuredly will not without a cataclysmic economic crisis.

What’s the solution? A balanced budget constitutional amendment.

I agree. As a whole, Congress (both parties!) has shown that it is utterly incapable of fiscal responsibility! Unfortunately, a balanced budget amendment will not happen because the American people, in all their wisdom, voted for the foxes to be in charge of the hen house!

Inhofe calls for investigation of "climategate"

Senator James Inhofe (R. OK) says he will call for an investigation into the "climategate" scandal about global warming.

Good luck with that, Senator. I applaud your efforts but as you know, the wolves are guarding the sheepfold.

More on the global warming hoax

Here's more on the global warming hoax, including excerpts from some of the e-mails.

Global warming data manipulated

From the Telegraph.UK:
Lord Lawson, the former chancellor, has called for an independent inquiry into claims that leading climate change scientists manipulated data to strengthen the case for man-made global warming.

Thousands of emails and documents stolen from the University of East Anglia (UEA) and posted online indicate that researchers massaged figures to mask the fact that world temperatures have been declining in recent years.
Do you suppose Barack Obama and the Democrats will now pause to consider this evidence before pressing forward with cap and trade? Of course not. Ultimately, its not about global warming. Its about big government.

The sickness that is Washington DC

Star Parker writes about how "sick" our nation's capital really is:
The poverty rate of Washington, DC, almost 20 percent, is one of the highest in the nation. Its child poverty rate is the nation's highest.

DC's public school system, with a graduation rate of less than 50 percent, is one of the worst in the country.

According to DC's HIV/AIDS office, three percent of the local population has HIV or AIDS. The administrator of this office notes that this HIV/AIDS incidence is "...higher than West Africa...on par with Uganda and some parts of Kenya." And the principal way that HIV is transmitted continues to be through male homosexual activity.
Please read the entire excellent article in OneNewsNow.

Censorship and global warming

E-mails hacked from global warming scientists apparently show that there is much more than objective science going on, for example a deliberate effort to censor scientists who do not think mankind causes global warming (see WSJ).

Sounds like the scientists who want to silence debate on intelligent design.

Anyone who thinks science is always about objective, unbiased research are living in la-la-land. For some people science is no less a religion than Buddhism or Hinduism.

ACORN busted big time!

ACORN was apparently caught dumping thousands of sensitive documents just before being visited by an investigator from the office of the California Attorney General. The documents have been retrieved by a private investigator. Read the story at BigGovernment.

It is amazing to me that a small private news organization is breaking these blockbuster stories while the mainstream media remain clueless lapdogs for the Obama administration. If this were the Bush administration and Bush had worked for ACORN, this would be the lead story in the news for the next month!

Acid attacks on Muslim women

I don't recommend the viewing of these pictures by everyone. They are gut-wrenching and tear-jerking examples of man's inhumanity to man--or, more precisely, of some Muslim men's inhumanity to some Muslim women! (via "Atlas Shrugs").

According to the article there are over 7,800 cases of such atrocities, yet only 2% ever resulted in prosecutions!

Where is the Muslim outrage over this? Where are the protests in the streets? Where are the western feminist voices?

Cultural relativist advocates of multiculturalism, who rightly celebrate that which is beautiful in other cultures, need to stop being so blind to that which is so evil in human cultures.

The Manhattan Declaration

Today, leaders from the Evangelicalism, the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church have released a human rights declaration announcing their position on major moral issues of our time and declaring that we will not comply with government edicts that violate our religious conscience [and I would add, Constitutional rights!] in these issues. The document is called the Manhattan Declaration. It is time to draw a line in the sand. Please read and sign this important document.

I've copied a few excerpts below:
A truly prophetic Christian witness will insistently call on those who have been entrusted with temporal power to fulfill the first responsibility of government: to protect the weak and vulnerable against violent attack, and to do so with no favoritism, partiality, or discrimination. The Bible enjoins us to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to speak for those who cannot themselves speak. And so we defend and speak for the unborn, the disabled, and the dependent. What the Bible and the light of reason make clear, we must make clear. We must
be willing to defend, even at risk and cost to ourselves and our institutions, the lives of our brothers and sisters at every stage of development and in every condition.

We acknowledge that there are those who are disposed towards homosexual and polyamorous conduct and relationships, just as there are those who are disposed towards other forms of immoral conduct. We have compassion for those so disposed; we respect them as human beings possessing profound, inherent, and equal dignity; and we pay tribute to the men and women who strive, often with little assistance, to resist the temptation to yield to desires that they, no less than we, regard as wayward. We stand with them, even when they falter. We, no less than they, are sinners who have fallen short of God’s intention for our lives. We, no less than they,
are in constant need of God’s patience, love and forgiveness. We call on the entire Christian community to resist sexual immorality, and at the same time refrain from disdainful condemnation of those who yield to it. Our rejection of sin, though resolute, must never become the rejection of sinners. For every sinner, regardless of the sin, is loved by God, who seeks not our destruction but rather the conversion of our hearts. Jesus calls all who wander from the path of virtue to “a more excellent way.” As his disciples we will reach out in love to assist all who hear the call and wish to answer it.

No one has a civil right to have a non-marital relationship treated as a marriage. Marriage is an objective reality—a covenantal union of husband and wife—that it is the duty of the law to recognize and support for the sake of justice and the common good. If it fails to do so, genuine social harms follow. First, the religious liberty of those for whom this is a matter of conscience is jeopardized. Second, the rights of parents are abused as family life and sex education programs in schools are used to teach children that an enlightened understanding recognizes as “marriages” sexual partnerships that many parents believe are intrinsically nonmarital
and immoral. Third, the common good of civil society is damaged when the law itself, in its critical pedagogical function, becomes a tool for eroding a sound understanding of marriage on which the flourishing of the marriage culture in any society vitally depends. Sadly, we are today far from having a thriving marriage culture. But if we are to begin the critically important process of reforming our laws and mores to rebuild such a culture, the last thing we can afford to do is to re-define marriage in such a way as to embody in our laws a false proclamation about what marriage is.

And so it is out of love (not “animus”) and prudent concern for the common good (not “prejudice”), that we pledge to labor ceaselessly to preserve the legal definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman and to rebuild the marriage culture. How could we, as Christians, do otherwise? The Bible teaches us that marriage is a central part of God’s creation covenant. Indeed, the union of husband and wife mirrors the bond between Christ and his church. And so just as Christ was willing, out of love, to give Himself up for the church in
a complete sacrifice, we are willing, lovingly, to make whatever sacrifices are required of us for the sake of the inestimable treasure that is marriage.

It is ironic that those who today assert a right to kill the unborn, aged and disabled and also a right to engage in immoral sexual practices, and even a right to have relationships integrated around these practices be recognized and blessed by law—such persons claiming these “rights” are very often in the vanguard of those who would trample upon the freedom of others to express their religious and moral commitments to the sanctity of life and to the dignity of marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife.

Because we honor justice and the common good, we will not comply with any edict that purports to compel our institutions to participate in abortions, embryo-destructive research, assisted suicide and euthanasia, or any other anti-life act; nor will we bend to any rule purporting to force us to bless immoral sexual partnerships, treat them as marriages or the equivalent, or refrain from proclaiming the truth, as we know it, about morality and immorality and marriage and the family. We will fully and ungrudgingly render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. But under no circumstances will we render to Caesar what is God’s.

Creating jobs "in places that don't exist"

According to KSTP-TV in Minneapolis,
A web site created to track stimulus spending shows money was spent to create jobs in places that don't exist.

Government watchdog Tom Steward of the Freedom Foundation of Minnesota says the misinformation on the Recovery.gov web site is astounding.

Apparently, Minnesota is not alone. If you are concerned about what happens to your stimulus money, just wait until you see what the government does with your health care money!

Iran's secret nuclear processing plants

Fox news is reporting tonight that the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog says that Iran may have several secret nuclear processing facilities.

Imagine nuclear weapons in the hands of radical Islamic clerics who "love death more than we love life" and who have not only repeatedly threatened the existence of Israel, but whose ultimate goal is to bring the entire world into submission to Islam, by any and all means necessary.

This is like Nazi Germany on steroids.

And so far Barack Obama appears to be the modern version of Neville Chamberlain.

What did the President know and when did he know it? That is the question asked about Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal. It may be time to brush the question off and ask it again. See "Does ACORN trail lead to the White House?"

Senator Obama: KSM will get a military trial

After insisting that 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Muhammad would get a full military trail, the Obama administration announced this week that KSM will be brought to New York for a the same criminal trial we would give to a citizen of the United States.

Yet another ACORN tape

Anita Moncrief writes,
Also, today another damning ACORN tape was released at Big Government. This time an ACORN member openly confessed to ACORN using non-partisan voter registration to secretly produce Obama votes.

Anyone paying attention knows accusations relating to voter registration fraud, illicit partisan activity and other chicanery often have been made against ACORN, with ACORN either denying all or any ACORN fault. In October of 2008, I testified in Pennsylvania regarding the illegal coordination between Barack Obama’s Campaign and ACORN

After reading Ms. Moncrief's excellent article, I can't help wondering if ACORN will be Obama's "Watergate." Meanwhile, it sounds like ACORN is in need of a good lawyer--the one they had is now in the White House!

Iran's Fordo site for nuclear weapons

"Sources close to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna confirm that the four inspectors who visited the newly discovered Fordo site near Qom last month found a fortified underground installation designed especially for the production of highly-enriched uranium for nuclear weapons" (DEBKAfile).

Is anyone surprised?

Sex, a higher priority than helping the poor

From the Family Research Council, November 12, 2009:

The D.C. City Council took one step closer to allowing same sex "marriages" in the District of Columbia on Tuesday when they voted the legislation out of the Committee on Public Safety & Judiciary. The panel refused to include protections for religious organizations--putting at risk the numerous churches in the region that provide goods and services to the needy who would have to decide between their faith or compliance with the city's commands. One of the largest area provider of relief services, the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, took a stand yesterday, just as their counterparts in Massachusetts's had done in that state, and refused to back down to the D.C. Council's bullying tactics. The Catholic Church provides a wide range of direct services for those in need in our nation's capitol, including physical and mental health care, legal care, immigration, employment services, counseling, shelter, education, adoption, foster care and services for the developmentally disabled. During the committee proceedings many of the council members were openly mocking religious concerns and one councilman, David Catania, told those gathered that if people of faith refuse to comply with his demands, the city will find someone else to take over everything they do. That will be very difficult for the city to do for they will quickly find, without faith there is little good works. It is very telling of the priorities of these politicians who would put the desires of the homosexual community over the needs of the poor.

That's tolerance, Leftist and gay activist style.

More Fort Hood massacres?

The Taliban has recently promised more Fort Hood massacres "unless Washington ends it policies in Afghanistan and Iraq." Robert Spencer comments,
"Taliban" means, of course, "students." I.e., students of Islam. But somehow they have missed the peaceful teachings of Islam that are so plain and patent to everyone else that only "Islamophobes" have trouble seeing them. How is it that these students of Islam don't know, as Obama put it yesterday, that "no faith justifies these murderous and craven acts; no just and loving God looks upon them with favor"?
Obama and the Left seem to live in a fantasy world in which all religions are imagined to have core teachings of love and compassion toward their fellow man.

October, 3rd coldest on record

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), "The October 2009 average temperature for the contiguous United States was the third coolest on record for that month according to NOAA’s State of the Climate report issued today. Based on data going back to 1895..."

Just think how cold it would have been were it not for global warming!

Forced conversions in Egypt

According to the Christian Post, a new report:

Released by Christian Solidarity International and the Coptic Foundation for Human Rights, “The Disappearance, Forced Conversions and Forced Marriages of Coptic Christian Women in Egypt” report documents dozens of real cases of Christian women who were lured and then violently forced into marriage, often after being raped.

Report research was done in Egypt by American anti-trafficking specialist Michele Clark and Egyptian women’s rights activist Nadia Ghaly. Based on research findings, the report contends that the violence against Egypt’s Christian women corresponds to the internationally recognized definitions of human trafficking.

Muhammad said, "Let there be no compulsion in religion" (Sura 2:256) so apparently these Egyptian Muslims don't understand Islam very well. On the other hand, after a Jewish tribe refused to accept Islam, Muhammad conquered them, decapitated at least 600 of the men, and sold their wives and children into slavery.

Could it be that it is the American Left that doesn't understand Islam very well.

Hasan's PowerPoint presentation

The Washington Post has obtained a PowerPoint presentation by the Fort Hood shooter. One enlightening slide was a quote from the Qur'an "And whoever kills a believer [Muslim] intentionally, his punishment is hell..." (Surah 4:93). (via Jihad Watch).

Hasan went on his murderous rampage after finding out that he was being transferred to Iraq. I wonder if he was worried about being placed in a situation where he might have to kill Muslims (though why a psychiatrist should have to worry about killing anyone is puzzling).

If a devoted Christian had to choose between military orders and violating his faith, he would likely refuse to obey the orders and either legally challenge or simply accept the consequences, but killing anyone would be absolutely in violation of everything the New Testament teaches.

Hasan, on the other hand, apparently believed that killing the infidel was consistent with the teachings of the Qur'an and would even provide him with a quick path to heaven. Beliefs have consequences.

Another enlightening slide is the one entitled, "Example: Jihad rule of abrogation" slide where Hasan points out that in Mecca (the early part Muhammad's life) Muslims were not even allowed to defend themselves. Later, however, after their emigration to Medina, self-defense was allowed--at first.

"Then offensive fighting was allowed" and "Later verses abrogated the former, i.e. peaceful verses no longer apply." "Indeed at one point Islamic empire spanned form [sic] Morocco/Spain to the Border of India/China."

There you have it. Muhammad was peaceful at first, (i.e. before he had any power), but the more rich and powerful he became, the more violent and imperialistic he became (hmmm, sounds a lot like modern Arab nations doesn't it)? And the peaceful verses in the Qur'an are said to no longer apply.

Isn't it too bad Hasan didn't understand Islam as well as our elite American Leftists?

For another observation on these PowerPoints, see the Muccings blog.

WorldNetDaily posted an article today reminding us that the Fort Hood terrorist, Malik Nadal Hassan, was not the only Muslim military man charged or convicted of terrorism or espionage. WND lists almost a dozen other cases. Read the article in WorldNetDaily.

And yet the Army Chief of Staff and the Homeland Security Secretary both seem more concerned about a backlash against Muslims than they are about radical Muslims in the military.

Political correctness is now killing us...literally!

Hasan, Bush, Obama and Clouseau

The more we learn about Malik Nadal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter, the more it becomes clear that he was not just mentally disturbed (though he certainly was!) but the massacre he committed was an act of jihadist terrorism--the worst terrorist act in America since 9/11 (in fact, the only terrorist attack since 9/11)!

A caller to a radio program today speculated that one reason the mainstream media may be struggling so hard to portray Hasan as anything but a Muslim terrorist, is because if this was a terrorist attack, it would be a significant a failure by the Obama administration.

George W. Bush kept America safe from terrorist attacks for seven years, but because of the Left's obsession with political correctness, America was attacked in the very first year of the Obama administration, even though Hasan left enough clues that even Insptector Jacques Clouseau could have followed!

I'd like to say that the caller was right and that Obama's policies are making us less safe (which is true), but candor forces me to admit that this political correctness nonsense was perpetrated by the Bush administration as well.

As I wrote in my last post, political correctness is now getting us killed...literally!

Another misunderstanding of Islam

According to Jihad Watch, "Anwar al-Awlaki is the former imam of the Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Virginia, which Hasan frequented -- as did three of the 9/11 hijackers."

On his website, Mr. al-Awlaki posted the following about Nidal Hassan, the Fort Hood, terrorist:
Nidal Hassan is a hero. He is a man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people. This is a contradiction that many Muslims brush aside and just pretend that it doesn't exist. Any decent Muslim cannot live, understanding properly his duties towards his Creator and his fellow Muslims, and yet serve as a US soldier. The US is leading the war against terrorism which in reality is a war against Islam. Its army is directly invading two Muslim countries and indirectly occupying the rest through its stooges.
Apparently al-Awlaki is just another one of those unfortunate Muslim Imam's who doesn't understand Islam as well as the American Left.

Fort Hood shooter tried to contack al Qaeda

While even this morning talking heads seem to be desperately trying distance the Fort Hood shooter from his religion, ABC News is reporting,
U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, to American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.
The Left's national obsession with political correctness is now killing us....literally!

Politically correct generals and politicians

According to the New York Times,
General George Casey Jr., the Army chief of staff, said on Sunday that he was concerned that speculation about the religious beliefs of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, accused of killing 12 fellow soldiers and one civilian and wounding dozens of others in a shooting rampage at Fort Hood, could “cause a backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers.”
According to the Associated Press, the Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano,
says her agency is working with groups across the United States to try to deflect any backlash against American Muslims following Thursday's rampage by Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim who reportedly expressed growing dismay over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Let me get this straight. A radical Muslim soldier slaughters 13 fellow soldiers in cold blood and seriously wounds 31 others, and these people are apparently more concerned about the safety of Muslim soldiers than they about the possibility of other closet radicals in the military!?

Frankly, I'm even more concerned about politically correct generals and politicians than I am about radical Muslims.

One step closer to socialism

Thanks to our democratic socialists, we are one step closer to socialism this morning, not to mention being another trillion plus dollars in debt!

The Democrats rammed their nearly two thousand page health care bill--which I doubt that many, if any have actually read--through the House last night, over the objections of all but one RINO.

What was that about promising to be bi-partisan?

Now its on to the Senate.

Breaking: Stupak Amendment

Tweet from Jordan Sekulow: "Stupak-Pits amend, preventing fed & taxpayer funding of abortion through HR 3962, passes 240 - a great victory for pro-life movement

Fort Hood shooter and 9/11 hijackers

It turns out that Major Nidal Malik Hasan attended the same mosque at the same time as two of the 9/11 terrorists, and was an admirer of the radical Imam who preached at that mosque.

I'm sure that is just a strange coincidence. Just because he attended a radical mosque and admired a radical Imam doesn't make him a terrorist, though it would make you wonder if he was a radical.

I am wondering, however: Is Major Hasan just an anomaly or are there others like him who have been overlooked by national our obsession with political correctness?

I am not suggesting, of course, that all Muslim's are radicals. Far from it. But I am wondering if political correctness has caused our government to overlook a few radicals who may have infiltrated our military and government.

Perhaps its time for a second look, for the sake of national security.

Wounded Fort Hood soldier

Eyewitness testimony from a wounded Fort Hood soldier(via Atlas Shrugs):

On self-esteem

Perhaps we should re-think our society's emphasis on self-esteem with a bit more skepticism:
"The psychologist Roy Baumeister has conducted more studies on self-esteem than any other researcher I know of. H wrote: 'The enthusiastic claims of the self-esteem movement mostly range from fantasy to hogwash.'

Baumeister found in his research that those with the highest self-esteem were often more likely to be obnoxious, to interrupt, and to lecture people instead of speaking to them with respect...Some of the world's worst villains have had 'high self-esteem." Violent gang leaders usually think highly of themselves, and some of the current rogues in the growing gallery of corporate corruption, who have been strong advocates of self-potentialism and personal power seminars, have recently demonstrated the perils of relentlessly high self-esteem.

The self-help answer to all this is that those who do wrong may appear to have high self esteem but they really suffer from latent low self esteem in need of more elevationg. Again, research does not support this 'fact" (Pearsall, Paul. The Last Self-Help Book You'll Ever Need." New York, Basic Books, 2006, 126-127).
Unlike many of the well-known self-help "experts" (you know the names), Dr. Pearsall is a clinical psychologist, a university professor and an "internationally recognized neuropsychologist. He explains self-esteem much better than this short quote, of course.

I don't think he is attacking the idea of self-esteem as much as he is attacking the cult of self-esteem which, in my opinion, took over our schools and brainwashed an entire generation into a mindset that has resulted in increasingly rude, crude, self-absorbed and even violent behavior. That was never the intention of the movement, of course, but it may well have been an unintended result.

Dr. Pearsall argues that we would do well to stop focusing so much on ourselves and start focusing more on our relationships with others.

Kimberley Munley: a true American hero

You are looking at a true American hero.

After shouting Allah Akbar! Major Nidal Malik Hasan killed 13 soldiers, seriously wounded 31 others, and would no doubt have continued his massacre were it not for the courageous actions of Kimberley Munley.

Ms. Munley, a police officer and mother, took down this very well armed jihadist perpetrator of the worst terrorist attack against America since 911, and she did it after being shot herself! I can't help thinking that she didn't have to do this. She could have hid behind a car and waited for backup--and paramedics.

I hope President Obama gives her a commendation.

Anti-Muslim backlash from Fort Hood shooting

Very short, but excellent article by Robert Spencer on the anti-Muslim backlash from the Fort Hood shooting. Check it out.

But Judaism and Christianity are violent too!

As I listen to the talking heads in the media who are practically beside themselves trying to come up with a politically correct explanation for the Fort Hood shooting it becomes more and more painfully clear that they really don't get it!

In the Middle East Quarterly, Raymound Ibrahim asks, "Are Judaism and Christianity as violent as Islam?" Although this article was written before the shooting, it is clear that Mr. Ibrahim understands. He gets it! In light of Iran's nuclear weapon program, if America doesn't wake up and "get it" too, our future may be very bleak indeed.

If you only read one article this week, please, please read this one! In fact, send it to all your friends.

Iran and advanced nuclear warhead design

Fox News reported tonight what Recliner Commentaries reported yesterday (we got it from the same source--UK's Guardian) that is, that Iran is working on advanced nuclear warhead design.

Congressman Peter Hoekstra is calling for a re-assessment of Iranian intelligence saying that the previous report by the IAEA which said that Iran had halted all nuclear activity was wrong.

Ya think?!

ACORN offices raided

According to the Associated Press, the Attorney General's office in Louisiana has raided ACORN offices in New Orleans.

Not ACORN! That bastion of ethics and integrity--and former employer of our President.

Gold has never dropped to zero

I keep seeing these commercials for gold that emphasize that the value of gold has never dropped to zero. That is apparently supposed to inspire my confidence in gold.

I can't help thinking that even if the engine of my old car seized up, the car died in front of an on coming train, and that train smashed the car almost beyond recognition--the value of the car would still not drop to zero because some things would be undamaged and could be sold for parts (door handles? gas or break peddles, a hub cap or gear shift? etc.).

I have no idea whether gold is a good investment, but the assertion that the value of gold has never dropped to zero inspires my skepticism, not confidence.

Nidal Hasan and the Homeland Security Policy Institute

It appears that the Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hasan, had been "a participant in a Homeland Security Policy Institute's presidential transition task force last year." The Homeland Security Policy Institute is an independent thinktank that drafted "policy recommendations for the incoming Obama administration." See Jihad Watch for the story.

Fort Hood shooter: "Allah Akbar!"

While the news media--even on Fox!--was still talking about unknown motives of the Fort Hood shooter and speculating that he may have had PTSD, an article from the UK "Metro" says,
The army major who went on a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead at Fort Hood military base shouted 'Allahu Akbar!' before opening fire.

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone said that suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, yelled out the Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage that also left 30 people wounded.
See also Jihad Watch for another report.

Can we suspect jihad yet?

Pelosi goes back on her word

According to the Weekly Standard blog,
Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD that the speaker will not allow the final language of the health care to be posted online for 72 hours before bringing the bill to a vote on the House floor, despite her September 24 statement that she was "absolutely" committed to doing so.

Iran: advanced nuclear warhead design

According to the Guardian:
The UN's nuclear watchdog has asked Iran to explain evidence suggesting that Iranian scientists have experimented with an advanced nuclear warhead design, the Guardian has learned.

The very existence of the technology, known as a "two-point implosion" device, is officially secret in both the US and Britain, but according to previously unpublished documentation in a dossier compiled by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iranian scientists may have tested high-explosive components of the design. The development was today described by nuclear experts as "breathtaking" and has added urgency to the effort to find a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis.

The Obama administration and Congressional Democrats are apparently too busy destroying our health care system to worry about such trivialities as a country that wants to destroy the West and is developing missiles and nuclear warheads to do it. Besides, Iran says they just want nuclear power for energy.

More on the Fort Hood shooter

More on the Fort Hood shooter.

Slaughter in Fort Hood Texas

12 soldiers have been shot and 30 wounded at Fort Hood Texas. The shooter has been identified as Major Malik Nadal Hasan (ABC News). There are two others in custody.

UPDATE: The shooter is from Virginia and is a convert to Islam.

UPDATE: I'm sure no one has ever accused Pamela Geller (Atlas Shrugs) of beating around the bush. She leaves no doubt where she stands....and she may be right.

Finding God before its too late

This falls in the category of, "if you only read one article today, please read this one!"

According to Snopes.com (which verifies or debunks rumors) the article below is genuine (hat tip: WHR).

Remarks from CBS Sunday Morning - Ben Stein

Next confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

Hate crimes and right wing talk shows

The ink is barely dry on the Democrats' hate crimes legislation when the first shot against freedom of speech is already being fired.

The "So we might see coalition" of Leftists and apostate churches has launched a petition calling on the FCC to investigate the connection between media "hate speech" and violence, specifically citing Rush Limbaugh as an example.

After Rush Limbaugh said something about illegal immigrants, some thugs apparently beat up two Mexican men. It doesn't matter that Rush Limbaugh never advocated or incited violence and in fact, the petition doesn't even say whether the thugs had even listened to Rush Limbaugh. It was apparently enough for the "So we might see coalition" that Rush Limbaugh is against illegal immigration so he must be the reason for the violence!

This is precisely the kind of thing that has been used in Canada and Australia to squash free speech and shut down intellectual opposition to Left wing agendas. The very idea that Rush Limbaugh or anyone else should come under government investigation simply for expressing his opinion on the air is fundamentally un-American!

The "So we might see coalition" is appropriately named because they are truly blind.

Google's CEO gives his view of what the Web will look like in five years. Interesting stuff.

Government funding of healthcare prayer

According to the Los Angeles Times, "a little-noticed provision in the healthcare overhaul bill would require insurers to consider covering Christian Science prayer treatments as medical expenses."
The provision was inserted by Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) with the support of Democratic Sens. John F. Kerry and the late Edward M. Kennedy, both of Massachusetts, home to the headquarters of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

The measure would put Christian Science prayer treatments -- which substitute for or supplement medical treatments -- on the same footing as clinical medicine. While not mentioning the church by name, it would prohibit discrimination against "religious and spiritual healthcare."
I did a search of both the House and Senate versions of the healthcare bill and was unable to find the phrase "religious and spiritual healthcare" in either one.

Assuming that the LA Times didn't just make this up, if this provision was meant to prevent discrimination in health care funding to Catholic or other church operated hospitals and clinics, it would be a good thing.

If the bill was poorly worded to allow funding of Christian Science or other prayer healing, it would be disastrous! The bill would open the floodgates of religious cult prayer clinics that would leach off your insurance companies! Can you imagine what this would do to the cost of health care?

Critics, including atheists, are predictably opposed to the measure. It's not often I find myself on the same side as atheists but in this case I am--not on the basis of church/state separation--but because this is just one more case where the health care debate is much more about politics than health care, and where Democrats are significantly overstepping their Constitutional authority.

In the mean time, if you ever encounter any group that charges you to pray for them you may be in a cult so run, don't walk, to the nearest exit!

Gay marriage loses in Maine

According to the Associated Press via Big Government.com:
Gay marriage has now lost in every single state—31 in all—in which it has been put to a popular vote. Gay-rights activists had hoped to buck that trend in Maine—known for its moderate, independent-minded electorate—and mounted an energetic, well-financed campaign.

With 87 percent of the precincts reporting, gay-marriage foes had 53 percent of the votes.

No wonder gay activists want to force gay marriage on Americans by legal force. Americans do not want marriage re-defined.

Congressional ethics investigations: Racist?

According to Politico:

The House ethics committee is currently investigating seven African-American lawmakers — more than 15 percent of the total in the House. And an eighth black member, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), would be under investigation if the Justice Department hadn’t asked the committee to stand down.

Not a single white lawmaker is currently the subject of a full-scale ethics committee probe.

Some members of the Congressional Black Caucus are outraged by this, apparently suspecting racism by the ethics committee (which, by the way, is controlled by the Democrats).

I have a suggestion. Rather than whining and playing the race card, I would suggest that if these outraged congresspersons know of any white, Asian or Hispanic members of congress who are violating ethics rules, then by all means, please do the country a big favor and turn them in!

The worst bill ever!

Read why the Democrats' health care bill may very well be "among the worst bills Congress has ever seriously contemplated" (Wall Street Journal).

On Thursday there is going to be a rally on the steps of the Capital in Washington DC in opposition to this worst bill ever. If you live within a few hundred miles of DC, please attend this rally! See American Solutions for more information.

Christmas: The war is on!

The war on Christmas has already begun under the absolutely false pretense of "separation of church and state." The idea that the Constitution prohibits government celebration of Christmas is nonsense! I will post again, what Michael Medved writes in his outstanding book, The 10 Big Lies about America,"
In fact, less than twenty-four hours after Congress approved the First Amendment, they clearly indicated the way they understood its language by passing the following resolution: "Resolved, that a joint committee of both Houses be directed to wait upon the President of the United States, to request that he would recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging, with grateful hearts, the many signal favors of Almights God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a Constitution for their safety and happiness." In the proclamation duly announcing the "day of public thanksgiving and prayer" that Congress had requested, President Washington declared November 26 "to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent Author of all good that was, that is, or that will be."

It never occurred to this First Congress that their call for public prayer would conflict with the amendment they had adopted a day earlier prohibiting "an establishment of religion" (83-84).

Noor Faleh Almaleki dies

Twenty-year old Noor Faleh Almaleki died yesterday after having been deliberately run over by her father in an honor killing. He thought she was too westernized. This evil wasn't perpetrated by the Taliban or al Qaeda. It didn't happen in Iran, Syria or Saudia Arabia. It happened in Arizona.

"The United Nations estimates that every year, 5,000 people become victims of honor killings. Just last year, in Georgia, a father strangled his daughter to death because she was planning a divorce from her husband" (Jihad Watch).

Why is it that Muslims all over the world will go absolutely ballistic and riot over something as stupid as the publication of a few cartoons, but when Muslim fathers slaughter their own daughters the silence is deafening?

Hamas missiles can now reach Tel Aviv

The Copenhagen agreement: Treason?

According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, Lord Christopher Monckton, a former adviser to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has issued pretty scary warnings about the "Copenhagen Agreement" on global warming. According to the article,
Lord Monckton warns that the aim of the Copenhagen draft treaty is to set up a transnational "government" on a scale the world has never before seen.

The "scheme for the new institutional arrangement under the Convention" that starts on page 18 contains the provision for a "government." The aim is to give a new as yet unnamed U.N. body the power to directly intervene in the financial, economic, tax and environmental affairs of all the nations that sign the Copenhagen treaty.

I don't know if all this is true (please read the entire WSJ article), but I've written before that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, second only to God. Neither the President, nor the Congress, nor the Supreme Court has the Constitutional authority to sell out U.S. sovereignty to the U.N. or any other entity. Any attempts to do so should be considered treason.

Cash for clunkers and health care

You will remember how the cash for clunkers program provided up to $4,500 for qualified auto trade-ins. The figures are now in. It actually cost the tax payer $24,000 per car!

When the government can't even run the cash for clunkers program efficiently, what makes so many people think Uncle Sam can run the infinitly more complex health care system more efficiently?
