200 million for private jets

According to Roll Call, "Last year, lawmakers excoriated the CEOs of the Big Three automakers for traveling to Washington, D.C., by private jet to attend a hearing about a possible bailout of their companies."

But the rules Congress makes for the rest of us don't apply to themselves. "At the end of July, the House approved nearly $200 million for the Air Force to buy three elite Gulfstream jets for ferrying top government officials and Members of Congress."

Oh, but that's different. You see, these CEO's had mismanaged their money so poorly that the American taxpayer had to bail them out.

Isn't that exactly what Congress did? John McCain and President Bush warned them, but Democrats like Barney Frank kept assuring everyone that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were sound.

So after bilking the American taxpayers for nearly a trillion dollars to bail themselves out (and then misappropriating so much of the money for their own special political interests), the Democrats now spend $200 million more for their own private jets!

And the American people keep electing these Democrats to Congress. How stupid can we be?
