North Korean weapons to Iran

Reuters is reporting that, "The United Arab Emirates has seized a cargo of North Korean weapons being shipped to Iran...." This is in violation of U.N. resolutions and you know what that means......

Absolutely nothing.

Not only will the UN do nothing, but I fear that the Obama administration will be too busy destroying our health care system to even notice.

That proverbial 3:00 AM phone just keeps ringing off the hook and no one is answering.

Taxing cash for clunkers rebates

Ya know that $4,500 dollar rebate on the cash for clunkers program? People are now finding out that the government is going to tax them on that rebate!

Not only that, but if the dealers don't provide the necessary paperwork in time, the one who got the rebate will end up paying the interest and penalties!

Read the story at Keloland Television and remember, this is the same government that wants to provide for your health care.

Holder's witch hunt against the CIA

Please take time to read Newt Gingrich's outstanding article, "President Obama should fire Attorney General Eric Holder." Here is an excerpt:

But here is the crucial fact for Holder: All of the allegations of unauthorized methods - all of them - have already been carefully evaluated by career prosecutors. These were legal officials who, unlike Holder, do not owe their jobs to any partisan political figure.

Impartial prosecutors evaluated 20 incidents of unauthorized activity and decided against taking legal action in all cases but one. In that one case, in which a contract employee attacked a terrorist detainee with a metal flashlight, the contractor was found guilty. His case was appealed and his conviction upheld.

In other words, justice was done.

I would add that if President Obama does not fire or at least call off AG Holder, then it will become hard to avoid the conclusion that Obama himself is behind Holder's political witch hunt.

Emergency control of the internet

A new bill is being proposed that would give President Obama emergency control over the internet. I haven't read the bill so I can't give an informed opinion on it (other than to say that it sounds pretty scary!) , but I can imagine the media and other Left wing hysteria if President Bush or the Republicans had suggested such a thing!

I hope this bill has checks and balances designed to keep Presidents from abusing this power for political purposes.

Fox News is on top!

Wow! According to TV by the Numbers Fox News programs are killing their competition in the ratings! Total day viewers for Fox News is about 1.3 million. Their closest competitor, CNN has little more than half that number.

Fox and Friends has close to a million viewers. CNN's American Morning has less than half that amount.

Fox's Glenn Beck has almost three times as many viewers as CNN's Situation Room and MSNBC's Hardball combined!

O'Reilly has more than three times the viewers of Keith Oberman.

This sounds like good news for Conservatives except for the fact that liberal mainstream media's ABC, NBC, and CBS evening news programs reach a combined total of about 20 million people!

Government liability for health care

Dr. Marc Siegel made an outstanding point on Fox and Friends this morning. If the Democrats' health care program passes, the government takes on absolutely no liability for its own bad decisions.

For example, if some government bureaucrat makes a bad decision about health care and a hundred people die as a result, their families have no recourse against the government.

Perhaps a provision should be added to the health care bill which not only requires our Congresspersons to live under the same healthcare package they foist on all of us, but also allows Americans to sue Congresspeople who voted for this bill.

When pigs fly.

Alan Keyes on Barack Obama

In 2004 Alan Keyes ran for Congress against Barack Obama. Keyes was running for the seat of a Senator who had just stepped down in scandal and only had 86 days to prepare. If Keyes had won this seat, Barack Obama would not be President today. Mr. Keyes leaves absolutely no doubt about what he thinks of President Obama. I like Alan Keyes but I don't think I'd go quite this far:

Another broken Obama promise

My Congressman, John Kline, posted this on Facebook today:
The AP today reported that despite the President's promises that the stimulus plan would be transparent and free of politics, the government is handing out $720 milion for border upgrades under a process that is both secretive and susceptible to political influence."
Just one more in a long line of broken Obama promises.

Oklahoma City pastor murdered

According to CNN: "Investigators have offered a $10,000 reward in the killing of a pastor at an Oklahoma church, a crime the local prosecutor described as "horrific."

Please pray that the murderer(s) would be brought to justice.

More Saul Alinsky tactics

In Denver someone smashed 11 windows at Democratic Party Headquarters. The head of Colorado's Democratic Party said it was probably done by someone opposed to Obama's health care program.

Then the guy was arrested. It turns out that he is a hard core Leftist and one time paid operative of the Democratic party! More Saul Alinsky tactics. Some of these Democrats are just plain evil.

The lesson: whenever you hear about some wacko right wing loonies doing crazy stuff, don't accept it at face value as I once did. Realize that these "right wing loonies" may actually be dishonest Democrats deliberately using Saul Alinsky tactics designed to make Republicans look bad.

Obama/Clinton fundraiser arrested

According to OneNewsNow,
An Iranian-American man who has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton -- and was once nominated by President Clinton to be U.S. ambassador to Argentina -- has been arrested on a bank fraud charge.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton fundraiser Hassan Nemazee is currently under house arrest at his Manhattan apartment after being charged with using phony documents to fool Citigroup into lending him $74 million. The arrest of Nemazee comes just four months after prominent Clinton donor Norman Hsu was convicted of campaign finance fraud for making tens of thousands of dollars in illegal donations.

Banned books map

The American Library Association has rolled out a Google Map showing the locations of "banned books" in anticipation of its annual September farce, "Banned Books Week."

The celebration is a farce because there are no "banned books" in America!

Every time a parent has the audacity to question the appropriateness of a library book, this challenge can be reported to the American Library Association and it counts as a banned book even if the book was never removed!

So, for example, if your local elementary school put a book in the school library containing graphic images of violent sex and enough parents challenged it, that title could become eligible to appear on on the ALA's annual banned books list.

Banned books week is the American Library Association's way of saying, "We are the high priests and priestesses of books. How dare you mere mortals challenge a librarian's decision to include a book (or unrestricted internet access) in our libraries!"

We librarians, of course, are too savvy to come right out and say that. We hide it under a pretext of defending the first amendment.

Homeschooler ordered to public school

"A Christian homeschool girl in New Hampshire has been ordered into government-run public school for having "sincerely held" religious beliefs." Read the story on OneNewsNow.

Whose side are they on? (Continued)

Yesterday I posted "Whose side are they on." Today we can add the ACLU to that question:
Savor the silence of America's self-serving champions of privacy. For once, the American Civil Liberties Union has nothing bad to say about the latest case of secret domestic surveillance -- because it is the ACLU that committed the spying.

Last week, The Washington Post reported on a new Justice Department inquiry into photographs of undercover CIA officials and other intelligence personnel taken by ACLU-sponsored researchers assisting the defense team of Guantanamo Bay detainees. According to the report, the pictures of covert American CIA officers -- "in some cases surreptitiously taken outside their homes" -- were shown to jihadi suspects tied to the 9/11 attacks in order to identify the interrogators.
Can you say, "traitors"? Please read the entire article in OneNewsNow.

Stimulus money going to cons

According to the Boston Herald,
One day after the Herald reported some surprised Bay State inmates - including murderers and rapists - were cashing in $250 stimulus checks, federal officials revealed the same behind-bars bonus was mailed to nearly 4,000 cons nationwide.
The government can't make a profit on the post office or Amtrak. They run Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare toward bankruptcy. They have a terrible record in V.A. hospital care. They are responsible for the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac catastrophe. They messed up payments to dealers on the cash for clunkers program. They mis-spend stimulus money on pornography, sex research, and now, we discover, on criminals!

And to think some people actually want our government running our health care system! I'm sorry, but I can't help wondering if those who think the government can get health care right might not need a little mental health care.

Daily Kos and Jihadists

Read "Daily Kos sides with Islamic supremacists who want to suppress free speech and oppress women and non-Muslims."

Excellent article. Honestly, the ignorance and outright evil by some on the Left is really baffling.

Whose side are they on?

As reported yesterday, the Obama administration is opening an investigation on the CIA. New York Representative Peter King is not pleased. In an interview with Politico today, King said,

"It’s bulls***. It’s disgraceful. You wonder which side they’re on," he said of the Attorney General's move, which he described as a "declaration of war against the CIA, and against common sense."

"It’s a total breach of faith, and either the president is intentionally caving to the left wing of his party or he’s lost control of his administration,"

Not only this, but when Democrats discredit and apologize for America on their overseas tours and when they spend our country to the verge of bankruptcy, I must say that I sometimes wonder whose side they're on too. I think the Obama administration and the Democratic Congress has done more to harm America in the last seven months than al Qaeda has done in the last seven years!

The Legacy of Woodstock

For an excellent article on the legacy of Woodstock, see Peter Heck's article in OneNewsNow.

Using stimulus money for sex research

How are Democrats using your stimulus tax dollars? According to the New York Post:

$221,000 is going to examine "barriers to correct condom use".

$219,000 is going to study adolescent "hookups."

$123,000 is going to evaluate "drug use as a sex enhancer."

$28,000 is going to study how meth use "enhances the motivation for female rat sexual behavior."

How do you feel about your stimulus tax dollars being spent for such projects?

Breaking: Justice to investigate CIA

Breaking news: According to the AP: "A Justice Department official says Attorney General Eric Holder has picked prosecutor John Durham to investigate CIA mistreatment of terror suspects."

My concern is that CIA officials--who honestly believed they were acting within the legal boundaries of their job--will get prosecuted just to appease the far Left or for other political reasons.

I'm afraid this may have a very chilling effect on our intelligence gathering capability, not to mention our country's safety.

Sebastian Faulks and the Qur'an

British author Sebastian Faulks read the Qur'an for a book he was writing. His impression?
In an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, Faulks said: "It's a depressing book. It really is. It's just the rantings of a schizophrenic. It's very one-dimensional, and people talk about the beauty of the Arabic and so on, but the English translation I read was, from a literary point of view, very disappointing." [...]
"With the Koran there are no stories. And it has no ethical dimension like the New Testament, no new plan for life."
And in a move that is likely to anger many Muslims, he calls into question the worth of Muhammad.
"Jesus, unlike Muhammad, had interesting things to say. He proposed a revolutionary way of looking at the world: love you neighbour, love your enemy, be kind to people, the meek shall inherit the Earth. Muhammad had nothing to say to the world other than, 'If you don't believe in God you will burn forever.'"
I've read the Qur'an. I don't know whether Muhammad had schizophrenia or not but I agree with Mr. Faulks' assessment of the Qur'an. Read the story in Jihad Watch.

CPSIA and loss of freedom

Please read Ed Morrissey's short, but outstanding article on CPSIA. This is a perfect example of unintended (?) consequences of federal legislation.

Just think about the unintended (?) consequences of their health care legislation!

Wee wee'd up

Apparently President Obama is adding to our vocabulary. For an explanation of "wee wee'd up, here is Robert Gibbs:

Obama off by 2 trillion dollars

Hugh Hewitt points out that "President Obama was off by 2 trillion dollars in his first 10-year deficit projection." He then asks, "Given this enormous error with its staggering implications, why would anyone believe any of his assurances about the costs of Obamacare? (Hugh Hewitt).

Very good question.

Seniors: Be very afraid

If you have parents, grandparents or ever hope to live to old age yourself, you might want to read read Hugh Hewitt's very short article, "New York Times to Seniors: Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid."

What rebound?

Read, "What rebound? Foreclosures rise as jobs and income drop."

This is what we got for the Bush administration's trillion dollar stimulus package which the Obama administration put on steroids!

Question for liberals: Is this the same government that you want to be more involved in your health care?

Christian girl faces possible death

According to the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission:
Rifqa Bary, a petite 17 year old cheerleader, fled from Ohio to Florida to escape her abusive Muslim family. She fled out of fear that she would be killed because she has become a Christian and she has good reasons.

Her father screamed at her that if she had Jesus in her heart, she was dead to him and he would kill her. Prior to that Rifqa had been repeatedly beaten by her family even to the point of losing vision in one eye.

Under Shariah law, the theo-political-legal program of Islam, “apostasy” is considered a capital offense. This is justified by a passage in Chapter 18 of the Quran that allows Muslims to murder wayward children, a practice now considered an “honor killing.”

Auto dealers withdraw from "cash for clunkers"

According to the Associated Press:
Hundreds of auto dealers in the New York area have withdrawn from the government's Cash for Clunkers program, citing delays in getting reimbursed by the government, a dealership group said Wednesday.
This is the same government that Democrats want to run your health care!

Fatah and Israel

The head of the Fatah militia in Lebanon has issued a statement on Israel:
The Fatah resistance will continue to be the spearhead of the struggle, and Fatah will remain in a constant state of revolution, serving as the flame of the armed struggle, until Palestine is liberated and the refugees return to their lands and their homes.

The political platform and constitution of Fatah do not recognize the so-called State of Israel, let alone the Jewishness of this state. We do not recognize that artificial entity, the state of Israel, which sooner or later will be removed from the land of Palestine, Allah willing. (Read more of the interview at Jihad Watch).
Hezbollah, Hamas and Fatah are major players in the Middle East conflict against Israel. Of these three, the members of Fatah are the moderates!

Until Hezbollah, Hamas and Fatah officially (and unofficially) recognize the right of Israel to exist and actively make a good faith effort to assure Israel's security, America needs to stop all government aid to them (Hezbollah, Hamas and Fatah), and allow (even support) Israel to take whatever reasonable means they deem necessary to insure the security of their nation and their people.

Blaming America

This is from one of those e-mails making its rounds on the internet. Since it ends with, If you are proud to be an American, pass this on! If not, delete it" I assumed it would be OK to post it (Hat tip: John W).
At a time when our president and other politicians tend to apologize for our country`s prior actions, here`s a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country.

JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when DeGaule decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaule said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible.

Rusk responded "does that include those who are buried here?

DeGuale did not respond.

When in England , at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush.

He answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.'

There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying 'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?'

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?'

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S. , English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?'

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, 'Maybe it's because the Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German.'

Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.

"You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically.

Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.

"Then you should know enough to have your passport ready."

The American said, 'The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."

"Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France !"

The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to."
By contrast, we now have a President and Secretary of State embarrassing us and themselves by traveling around the world apologizing for America's mistakes, which are no worse than the evil done any other country's past. In fact, the evil history of many (if not most) countries, makes the evil in U.S. history look almost trivial.

For example, one of the worst evils in American history was slavery. Most people don't seem to realize, however, that slavery has been practiced by almost all countries at one time or another and that Muslim countries enslaved far more people than western countries ever did. Yet for some reason, only the United States is blamed.

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World

If you are Christian, I encourage you to take part in "30 days of Prayer for the Muslim world" from August 22 to September 20.

I've had a lot to say about radical Islam on this blog leading some of my critics to conclude that I hate Muslims. I do think that the religious-political system of Islam is often extremely dangerous and is often the harshest oppressor of Muslims, but the idea that I hate Muslims couldn't be further from the truth.

I actually love Muslims and want to seem them come to "Nabi Isa (Prophet Jesus) not only as prophet, but as Savior and Lord.

"Let's kill the bill and kill the President"

"Let's kill the bill and kill the President."

No, that quote did not come from some radical right wing nut or even from a prominent right wing talk show host. It is what former Democratic National Committee chairman, Howard Dean said that conservatives want to do.

There are no conservatives who want to see our President dead. Anyone who wants to see our President dead is not Right wing or Left wing; conservative or liberal--they are just plain evil and/or severely mentally disturbed.

This kind of talk by a political leader like Howard Dead is way over the line of acceptable political discourse. Sadly, my guess is that not a single Democrat nor a single person in the main stream media will condemn Howard Dean's hate speech.

Afterthought: Shouldn't it be illegal to knowingly make groundless charges about people supposedly wanting to kill the President?

Churches destroyed, pastors killed

In Nigeria, Muslims destroyed 20 churches and killed three pastors. Robert Spencer comments, "And as always, the world yawns. Yet just consider the international publicity, and outcry, this would provoke if the perpetrators and victims were reversed. Read the story in Jihad Watch.

I think Mr. Spencer is absolutely right. If Christians (in any country) had destroyed 20 mosques and killed 3 Imams, it would be the lead story on every news program and newspaper in the country.

Clinton comparing America to Nigeria

According to ABC news:
Answering a question about Nigeria's recent election, Clinton said, "In 2000, our presidential election came down to one state where the brother of the man running for President was the governor of the state. So we have our problems too."
The article later explains:
Nigeria is considered one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Wide-spread voter fraud was reported in Nigeria's last general election in 2007, which saw now President Umaru Yar'Adua declared the winner. Accusations of missing ballot boxes, inflated voter counts and even some voters being shot at polling stations were made by opposition candidates.
Using Hillary's logic I suppose she could also compare America to Nazi Germany: "Yeah, they killed six million Jews but innocent prisoners have been executed in America too."

One might expect to hear this kind of "moral equivalency" argument from our worst enemies. To hear such apologies coming from Democrats like our own Secretary of State and even from our President is painfully agonizing to those of us who love this country.

Iran and North Korea

Random thought: While America is focused on our own "man made disaster" (The Democrats' health plan), Iran is coming very close to finishing their first nuclear weapon and North Korea is developing missiles that will bring theirs to American cities.

During the campaign the candidates had a lot to say about the proverbial 3:00 AM phone call. Well, the phone is ringing off the hook and no one is answering.

A black, white supremacist

On his Facebook account, Dyron Hart made death a death threat against an African-American student and said he wanted to kill African-Americans because he was outraged at Barack Obama's election. Mr. Hart was, to all appearances, a dispicable white supremacist (CNN).

As it turns out, however, Dyron Hart was actually an African-American whose Facebook picture was of a Caucasian he had copied from a white supremacist website.

I suppose he was just trying to discredit white people in general and Obama opponents in particular.

What was that I was saying about Saul Alinsky tactics?

Saul Alinsky tactics?

In my last post I assumed that the the evil man holding the "death to Obama" sign was on the lunatic right fringe since he was at a conservative rally. One of my readers correctly pointed out, however, that I was making a big assumption. The guy may not have been part of the Right wing at all. He may have been a Leftist "plant."

Sound far fetched?

Check out the American Thinker in which Kyle-Anne Shiver discusses the tactics of Leftist Saul Alinsky (of whom Barack Obama was apparently a disciple). Some students once told Alinsky that they were planning to picket a speech by George H.W. Bush. Alinsky said this was the wrong approach. He encouraged them to attend the speech "dressed as members of the Ku Klux Klan" with "placards reading, 'The KKK supports Bush."

I really hope someone investigates these people who show up at conservative rallies with threatening signs or Nazi symbols etc.

I'd like to know who they really are, what their agenda is and who, if anyone, put them up to it.

"Death to Obama"

According to NBCWashington, a man in Hagerstown, Maryland was taken into custody by the Secret Service for displaying his "Death to Obama" sign at a rally.

I guess this is a good reminder that the Right has its lunatic fringe just like the Left.

Those of us on the sane Right wing do not wish any harm to come to President Obama. On the contrary, we wish him a long and happy retirement after he loses the election in 2012.

Those who express sentiments of violence toward our President should be detained and interrogated by the Secret Service.

Unfortunately, out of about a thousand good Americans who came out to this rally, my guess is that the mainstream news media will only focus on the tiny lunatic fringe.

Quality adjusted life years

The following is from an article in the Wall Street Journal:

The assault against seniors began with the stimulus package in February. Slipped into the bill was substantial funding for comparative effectiveness research, which is generally code for limiting care based on the patient’s age. Economists are familiar with the formula, where the cost of a treatment is divided by the number of years (called QALYs, or quality-adjusted life years) that the patient is likely to benefit. In Britain, the formula leads to denying treatments for older patients who have fewer years to benefit from care than younger patients.

When comparative effectiveness research appeared in the stimulus bill, Rep. Charles Boustany Jr., (R., La.) a heart surgeon, warned that it would lead to “denying seniors and the disabled lifesaving care.” He and Sen. Jon Kyl (R., Ariz.) proposed amendments to no avail that would have barred the federal government from using the research to eliminate treatments for the elderly or deny care based on age.

If you are a senior citizen or have loved ones who are or will one day be senior citizens, you owe it to them to read this entire article.

How to fix health care

Here is another one of those, "if you only read one article today, please read this one!" The author provides some excellent suggestions on how work toward fixing health care without bankrupting America (hat tip: Kevin I).

Interestingly enough, it appears that much of what is broken with our current health care system is due to government regulations!

Climate change

According to NOAA (National oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), "The July 2009 temperature for the contiguous United States was below the long-term average, based on records going back to 1895..."

It is sure beginning to look like the idea of "global warming" was a mistake (to put it politely). Rather than admitting this, however, the ideologues made a political decision to start calling it "climate change."

Since "climate change" covers just about anything, this allows the ideologues (Democrats) to continue their crusade against carbon emissions in America regardless of what this will do to the U.S. economy (not to mention your pocketbook)!

Unpatriotic Nazi's!

While Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats are questioning our partiotism and calling us Nazis, someone pulled up this 2003 clip of Hillary Clinton yelling,
"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." (Hillary Clinton, 2003).
Apparently you're only an unpatriotic Nazi if you disagree with the Democrats!

UPDATE: I originally posted a YouTube video which contained an audio of Hillary Clinton speaking the quote posted above. I decided to delete the video, however, because while the audio was of Hillary giving the above quote, the video part wasn't an actual video of Ms. Clinton giving the quote, but merely a montage of some of the most unflattering pictures of Ms. Clinton available. As much as I disagree with Hillary Clinton's politics, I'm not interested in personal attacks against her and I decided, upon further reflection, that you would just have to trust me that she really did make the statement attributed to her above.

Is dissent patriotic?

Stop the spending now!

The following petition appears at CommonSense.Com. Please go there and sign it.

Congressional Leaders:

In the name of our children, our grandchildren, and our children’s children yet unborn, We demand, that the President and Congress of the United States do not commit by law to spend another dollar on any new initiative that will burden future generations with an unbearable debt. There is no more money. You have spent it all. Indeed you have wasted it on bailouts, on taking over car companies and on political pork projects.

The proposition that we must spend trillions to avoid bankruptcy is absurd on its face. We must fix the economy and create jobs if we as a nation are to be able to sustain the obligations to which you have already committed us. No more.

The issue of spending is a moral threat to the very life and future of America.

Hate crime?

Next time you hear Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats complain about right wing mobs, remember this story. Are these union thugs being charged with a hate crime? (Hat tip: Smelting Pyrite)

It can only be described as Satanic!

This story is so unbelievably heart-wrenching it can only be described as Satanic! Don't read it before bed, you may not sleep well. It makes waterboarding seem like a summer day at the beach!

Where are all those bleeding heart liberals now--you know, that ones who were so concerned about our waterboarding of three terrorists?

12.1 trillion dollars!!!

According to the Wall Street Journal, "U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner asked Congress to increase the $12.1 trillion debt limit on Friday, saying it is "critically important" that they act in the next two months."

Twelve trillion dollars!!! That's almost $40,000 for every man, woman and child living in America today--$160,000 for a family of four!

We've got to throw some Democrats out of Congress in 2010. The country depends on it.

Health care horror

If you don't watch anything else today, please, please watch this video. Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann does an incredible job ripping the mask of the Obama health care program. It sounds like something resurrected from Nazi Germany!

Reporting myself to the government

Since the government wants us to report our neighbors who spread "fishy" information about the Obama health care proposal, one of my regular readers suggests that we help the government out and inform on ourselves! (hat tip: St. Lee).

Excellent idea! I just sent the following e-mail to

To whom it may concern:

I'd like to report someone.

He says the government that gave us the kind of healthcare available in some VA hospitals, and which has nearly bankrupted the social security system, simply cannot be trusted with our health care.

He says that although this was not the Obama administration's fault, administrations come and go but government corruption and ineptitude seems to remain.

It is therefore, impossible, he says, for anyone to honestly guarantee that some twenty-something's abortion or sex-change operation will not someday take
priority over a senior's hip replacement or heart operation.

He says that it is impossible to predict what a future adminstration will do with the power this adminstration intends to usurp.

The person I want to report is me.
I signed the e-mail with my real name and address. If you disagree with the Democrats' health care proposal, please let them know.

AARP walks out on seniors

In a recent meeting between an AARP representative and AARP members, the members disagreed with AARP's support of Obama's policy. How did the AARP representative take the feedback?

She unplugged the microphone and took it with her as she walked out of the meeting! Watch the video!

Perhaps that's what seniors should do with AARP--walk out and stop supporting the socialist takeover of America!

Seniors need to ask themselves: When the battle for government health-care money begins, are you really sure your heart surgery is going to get funded over some kid's abortion or sex change operation? You may be betting your life on the answer.

According to Politico.Com:
Top White House aides gave Senate Democrats a recess battle plan on Thursday, arming the lawmakers with tips for avoiding disastrous town hall meetings while showing them polling on popular aspects of the reform effort.

White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina reportedly told the Senators,“If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard."

More on White House informants

Michelle Malkin weighs in on the President's program to have Americans squeal on other Americans:
This week, President Obama's health care overlord, Nancy DeParle, launched a taxpayer-funded initiative to recruit an Internet Snitch Brigade that will combat "disinformation about health insurance reform."
Michelle than asks,
What will health care czar DeParle do with this information? Where will it be stored? Who has oversight of the czar's powers, budget and personnel? Concerned citizens, alas, will have a hard time tracking down the "Office of Health Care Reform" created by executive order in April. There is no central website for the office, no direct channel for transparency and no congressional accountability.
Read her column on Townhall.

More money for Fannie Mae?

According to the Associated Press, "Fannie Mae is seeking an additional $10.7 billion in government aid after posting another massive quarterly loss as the taxpayer bill from the housing market bust keeps growing."

Sounds to me like pouring more water into a seriously rusted bucket.

A "troubling attempt to stifle" free speech

The American Center for Law and Justice responded to the White House request to report "fishy" statements on the Democrats' health care proposal to calling it "a very troubling attempt to stifle the free speech of Americans."

I can't believe this is not getting more media attention. Can you imagine the outcry if this had been done by George Bush?

White House: Spy on your neighbors

From the White House blog:
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to
Apart from the fact that much of this disinformation comes from Barack Obama himself, since when was it the job of the White House to "keep track" of American citizens' e-mails or casual conversations?

Are they seriously asking us to report private conversations and e-mails to the government?

Why do they want you to do this? Do you honestly think they want you to report your neighbor because they think your neighbor might have spread some rumor that the White House hasn't heard of through Fox News or talk radio? Or do they have other reasons for wanting you to report your neighbors?

Can you imagine the hysteria that would have resulted if the Bush administration had asked supporters to report e-mails and conversations to the government? Democrats, Hollywood and the media would have been outraged--and rightly so. This sounds more like something out of the former Soviet Union than the United States. This administration is really scary!

You can tell the Obama administration I said so!

UPDATE: See The Dallas Morning News for a copy of the letter Senator John Cornyn sent to the White House regarding this issue.

Understandable health care

Finally, someone who can explain the government health care program in a way everyone can understand :-) (hat tip: Don B.)

The health care "Trojan Horse"

President Obama has strongly denied that his health care plan is just a "Trojan horse" for complete government takeover of health care.

According to OneNewsNow, however, a video has surfaced which shows an address Mr. Obama made in March 2007 to one of his major backers, the Service Employees International Union. On the video he says,
"But I don't think we're going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There's going to be potentially some transition process. I can envision a decade out, or 15 years out, or 20 years out."
Yet another Obama lie! Regardless of his rhetoric, we have every reason to believe that his ultimate goal is the total government takeover of health care.

This guy is scary.

200 million for private jets

According to Roll Call, "Last year, lawmakers excoriated the CEOs of the Big Three automakers for traveling to Washington, D.C., by private jet to attend a hearing about a possible bailout of their companies."

But the rules Congress makes for the rest of us don't apply to themselves. "At the end of July, the House approved nearly $200 million for the Air Force to buy three elite Gulfstream jets for ferrying top government officials and Members of Congress."

Oh, but that's different. You see, these CEO's had mismanaged their money so poorly that the American taxpayer had to bail them out.

Isn't that exactly what Congress did? John McCain and President Bush warned them, but Democrats like Barney Frank kept assuring everyone that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were sound.

So after bilking the American taxpayers for nearly a trillion dollars to bail themselves out (and then misappropriating so much of the money for their own special political interests), the Democrats now spend $200 million more for their own private jets!

And the American people keep electing these Democrats to Congress. How stupid can we be?

Obama lied....

A big part of protecting freedom is to keep public officials accountable. Fortunately, in this day and age, when the mainline news media refuses to do this, bloggers and columnists will. John Hawkins provides a documented list of seven Obama lies. They include promises:
  • To excluded lobbyists from his administration.
  • To bring all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors
  • That non-emergency bills would be posted online for five days before he signed them.
  • That medicare would not be reduced
  • That the Recovery Act was intended to jolt the economy (when the jolt didn’t come, he said the Recovery Act was never intended to jolt the economy.
  • hat he would negotiate health care publically—even on CSPAN.
  • Not to raise taxes on the middle class

I’d like to add a few more:

  • To establish a new era of bi-partisanship. He lied.
  • To establish a new era of openness in government. He lied.
  • To veto earmarks. He lied.
  • To support Israel. He lied.
  • To be a post-racial President. He lied.
  • To end the war in Iraq. Code Pink is still waiting.
  • To close Gitmo. The far Left is still waiting.

President Obama has only been in office eight months! I’ll ask again, the question I asked during the campaign, why would anyone (on the Left or Right) believe anything this guy says?

Summit on texting

According to the Washington Times, "The Obama administration will hold a summit about the potential dangers of texting while driving, Transportation Department Secretary Ray LaHood said Tuesday."

Most of us agree that texting while driving is not good, but isn't this something the states should handle? Does the Obama administration--like the former Soviet Union--want to micromanage every area of our lives?

Banned Books Week and the ALA

As a librarian, I am a member of a library listserve. Someone recently asked about celebrating the ALA's (American Library Association) "banned books week." I responded to the listserve but got almost no response so I decided to post my response here also:
I guess I could understand celebrating a "freedom of speech" week or a "freedom of the press" week, but a "banned books week?"

If the ALA held a "banned speech week" during which libraries listed and celebrated four-letter words, politically incorrect phrases, and obscene and racially insensitive jokes, would Christians celebrate that too?

The fact is that there are no banned books in America. Maybe I missed it but I don't recall seeing any articles in the Library Journal or American Libraries protesting that other religion and those other countries which really do ban books.

Oh, don't mind me. I'm still not over the fact that there was no ALA outcry over the censorship and abuse of librarian Scott Savage at Ohio State University when all he did was to recommend a book written by a conservative Christian (please read this article for an update by Scott Savage himself--and please withhold your judgment on Mr. Savage until you've read, The Marketing of Evil, which he recommended).

I'm also still waiting for the ALA to re-invite Robert Spencer. I'm waiting, but I won't hold my breath :-)

"Thousands of martyrs" for Jerusalem

Less than two weeks ago, the security advisor to Palestinian Authority President Abu Mazen said,
"But let me tell you, Jerusalem needs thousands of martyrs. If we live to see the day, and you become the leaders of the future, mark my words: It is impossible for Jerusalem to be restored to us without thousands of martyrs" (MEMRI).
Just what is Islam's claim on Jerusalem? Muhammad woke up one morning and told Hind, the woman he had been sleeping with (not his wife) that overnight the angel Gabriel had taken him to Jerusalem (1,400 miles round trip from Medina) where he met with Jesus, Moses and Abraham before ascending to heaven.

According to Ibn Ishaq, a devout Muslim who wrote the earliest biography of Muhammad, Hind said that he may have gone spiritually but his body was with her all night:
“The apostle went on no night journey except while he was in my house. He slept that night in my house. He prayed the final night prayer, then he slept and we slept. A little before dawn the apostle woke us, and when we prayed the dawn prayer he said…I prayed with you last evening prayer in the valley as you saw. Then I went to Jerusalem and prayed there” (Life of Muhammad by Ibn Ishaq, 183-184).
Muhammad's favorite wife, A'isha later confirmed this story, i.e. that Muhammad never went anywhere.

There you have it!. For this Jews are supposed to give up Jerusalem which had been a Jewish city for a thousand years before Jesus was born (and Jesus was born 600 years before Muhammad)! For this Muslims are willing to see thousands of people slaughtered!

Why is it that Barack Obama and the American Left just cannot seem to understand that so many Muslims in the Middle East do not want peace, they want Jerusalem and the rest of Israel. All negotiations are merely ploys to gain this ultimate goal.

Health care in a nutshell

The lady on the short video sums up the health care debate in a nut shell. To borrow a phrase Quakers are fond of using, "She speaks my mind!"

Iran and nuclear weapons

According to TimesOnline Western intelligence sources say that "Iran has perfected the technology to create and detonate a nuclear warhead and is merely awaiting the word from its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to produce its first bomb..."

Meanwhile Barack Neville Chamberlain Obama is still thinking that if we just apologize enough and be nice enough to our enemies, we can achieve peace in our time.

The biggest decline since the Great Depression

Republicans generally say the way to stimulate the economy is by tax cuts. Democrats want to spend money. Democrats are spending money like it grows on trees. How's it working out for them?

According to the Associated Press, "Tax receipts are on pace to drop 18 percent this year, the biggest single-year decline since the Great Depression, while the federal deficit balloons to a record $1.8 trillion." In addition, "Individual income tax receipts are down 22 percent from a year ago" and "Corporate taxes are down 57 percent."

This is economics Democrat style. I'm not an economist but this doesn't sound good.

"How many of you believe in evolution?"

About 15 years ago (give or take a few years) I was sitting in an evening church service at Grace Bible Church in Dayton, Tennessee. As I recall we had a guest speaker who was preaching on creationism. He asked the congregation, "How many of you believe in evolution?"

In that very conservative Bible church in the heart of where the famous Scopes trial took place, he was probably surprised to see two hands go up....mine, and the hand of one of my colleagues at Bryan College, Dr. Kurt Wise.

As strong creationists, we didn't necessarily disagree with evolution, per se. We do not think the idea of "macro-evolution" is adequatedly, scientifically grounded, and we completely disagree with the rediculous idea that unbelievably complex life forms--all the way from single cells to human beings--evolved entirely by natural processes apart from any intelligent design. That belief is no less mythology than the idea of Zeus on Mt. Olympus.

My doctors degree is in religion and society--what do I know? But Dr. Wise got his doctors degree in Paleontology from Harvard University under the world renowned evolutionist, Stephen J. Gould. I guarantee you that Dr. Wise did not get out of Harvard under Dr. Gould without thoroughly understanding evolution. --yet he knows that evolution did not just occur through natural processes alone.

Some evolutionists like to marginalize or dismiss all criticism against evolution as if such criticism only comes from ignorant, uneducated Neanderthals. Those who do this are either ignorant of the facts, or they are lying to you.

Raising middle class taxes

According to CNSNews:
Appearing on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” Sunday, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner floated President Obama’s next big move: a tax increase on middle-class Americans.
President Obama absolutely, positively, swore that he would not raise middle class taxes one penny.
