Michael Jackson worship

The news media, various TV shows, prominent public personalities like Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton and others are all praising Michael Jackson. In fact, even...
US lawmakers took a brief break Friday from fierce debate on a climate change bill to pay tribute to Michael Jackson, praising the deceased "King of Pop" as a singing and dancing inspiration (AFP).
Michael Jackson is an accused child molester who, by his own admission, used to sleep in the same bed with children who were his "guests." Isn't there something fundamentally sick with a society that makes a national hero out of a (strongly) suspected child molester?

Death kills bad memories. Anything that was accused against him will never be spoken about nor brought up because he's dead, gone, forever. In our society, to think of all the positive things is only acceptable. The positive thing being that 20 years ago Michael Jackson was a pop sensation. Then he got dozens of surgeries, became Wacko Jacko, and as you said, molested children and got away with it because he had millions of dollars that he could spend on lawyers, etc...

The funny thing is is that Michael Jackson became what ALL pop stars become. Freak Shows. Much like Britney Spears, Prince, Lindsey Lohan, and all the others, they, at one time, were very popular and then screw their lives up and make their living off of the tabloids paying them off for a photo. Most of my life all I heard about of Michael Jackson was all the crazy, evil, and stupid things he did. Much like you mentioned, why can almost a life worth of wickedness and disgrace be erased just because someone sang ABC, Thriller, and Beat it?

It's just another window into our twisted and corrupt society.

It is interesting that two very talented celebraties also passed away last week (Ed McMann and Farra Fawcett)yet I don't see a lot being said, and specials being planned, about either of these individuals. Our society definitely has its priorities on backwards.
