Iranian election

In Iran the Interior Ministry (which has sole oversight of the election) announced the winner of their Presidential election within an hour after the polls closed. That's a pretty amazing feat, considering the fact that Iran uses paper ballots which must be counted by hand! (Time)

The ayatollahs have announced that they will review the election results but I have little doubt that their review will be just as much a sham as the election itself.

Now, tens of thousands are protesting and even rioting in the streets in Iran. Some pundits wondering if this is the beginning of another Iranian revolution.

Barack Obama needs to be strongly encouraging and supporting this "hope and change" on the part of Iranians. Unfortunately, his silence has been deafening.
