Excellent questions about Islam

I thought Mike Gallagher made an outstanding point on his radio show yesterday. He noted how America (i.e. President Obama) is bending over backwards trying to assure Muslims around the world that we are not at war with Islam.

Mr. Gallagher wondered why it is that Muslims are not trying to assure Americans that they are not at war with us! After all, it was Muslims from Saudi Arabia who slaughtered 3,000 innocent Americans in the Twin Towers!

I would add that it was Muslims who had also killed Americans when they bombed these Twin Towers eight years earlier.

It was Muslims who slaughtered our Marines in their barracks in Lebanon.

It was Muslims who killed American personnel when they bombed the Khobar Towers housing complex in Saudi Arabia.

It was Muslims who killed Americans when they bombed the U.S.S. Cole as it was docked in Yemen.

In light of this--not to mention all the rabid anti-west rhetoric and threats coming out of the Muslim world--shouldn’t Muslims be trying to reassure Americans that Muslims are not at war with America?

The fact is that Americans fought and died to liberate Muslim Kuwait and Muslim Iraq from a dictator who had killed over a million Muslims!

American soldiers also fought and died for Muslims in Bosnia.

So why should we have to assure Muslims that we are not at war with Islam—unless, of course, the so-called Muslim radicals like Saddam Hussein and his Baathist Party, the Taliban, al Qaeda, etc. really are representatives of true Islam.

As Gallagher rightfully points out, however, the Left always insists that Muslim radicals have perverted the noble religion of Islam and are not following true Islam at all. But if this is true, why are we hated in the Muslim world for attacking Islam? If we are just attacking perversions of Islam, why do so many millions of Muslims hate us?

Gallagher rightfully points out that you can’t have it both ways. Either the Muslim radicals of al-Qaeda, the Taliban etc. are part of true Islam and the U.S. is, therefore, guilty of attacking Islam, as so many in the Muslim world believe.

OR Muslim radicals like those in al Qaeda and the Taliban have only perverted Islam and are not really true Muslims at all, in which case we have to ask again why so many Muslims around the world hate us.

I couldn't agree more. The real scary thing is that the Adolf Hitlers of this generation now have (or will soon have)nuclear weapons!
