Does an unborn child have any rights?

Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) had a chance to talk to Supreme Court nominee Sonya Sotomayor recently. According to DeMint, "When I asked if an unborn child has any rights whatsoever, I was surprised that she said she had never thought about it."

How is it possible that a Supreme Court nominee has never once considered whether an unborn baby has rights?!

Abortion has been one of the biggest battle grounds in America for over 30 years and Judge Sotomayor has never even considered a viewpoint other than the Leftist view she apparently absorbed through osmosis? This boggles my mind!

It makes me wonder: How many other pro-abortionists have refused to even consider arguments on the pro-life side?

This may sound cynical, but I believe the candidate for the highest court in the land was just ducking the question.

Professor Ed,

That's a good point. I think you are probably right. I also think, however, that in her attempt to dishonestly duck the question, she made herself look unqualified and ignorant of the issues.

And a liar. How can anyone, especially as you have mentioned, NOT have thought about it? It's such a hot topic issue she knows that she'll get hammered if she says one way or another.

I'm sure it's safe to say that she is indeed pro-choice. If Obama chose a pro-life candidate, his left friends would be up in arms. We all know it.

If she is being honest in that answer, then it shows an unusual amount on shallowness of thought on her part. If she is being dishonest in her answer, then it can only be in the interest of furthering her career.

Either should be enough to disqualify her.
