$236,000 to fly to Chicago

President Obama will be flying to Chicago today for a speech on health care. The cost for his 2 1/2 hours in Chicago will be about $236,000, not counting "Secret Service protection, motorcades and helicopter transports" (Chicago Tribune).

I know other Presidents have done this kind of thing also, but in a time of amazing communication technology, not to mention trillion dollar deficits and soaring job/home losses, aren't these PR trips just a little bit insensitive to, and out of touch with, the average American's financial struggle?
