Low flying jet and NYC evacuations

According to the Wall Street Journal, "A jumbo jetliner that serves as Air Force One, escorted by a military jet, flew over Lower Manhattan Monday morning, frightening office workers and causing evacuations in what turned out to be a publicity operation approved by a unit of the U.S. Air Force."

According to the FAA, the planes were part of a "photo-op."

Isn't this a bit like having a group of unannounced masked, armed intruders waking around Columbine High School as a PR stunt for the local SWAT team?

UPDATE: According to the AP, "An administration official says a presidential Boeing 747 and a fighter jet flew low near ground zero in New York City Monday because the White House Military Office wanted to update its file photo of the president's plane near the Statue of Liberty."

If the White House doesn't have any more common sense than this, we are in even more trouble than I thought!

Given the affect this well thought out "project" had on the citizens of NYC, I consider this an open and shut case of blatant torture by the Obama administration on the folks of the big apple. With this in mind, I am sure Senator Schumer will request that a special prosecutor be assigned to look into the implications of the matter.

LOL!

But on a more serious note, can you imagine the hysterical media outrage had a stunt like this been pulled by the Bush administration? I suspect the media would be questioning not only their competence but their sanity.
