Obama and Jerusalem: undivided?

Last month Barack Obama told a Jewish group that Jerusalem should be the undivided capital of Israel. The Jewish people might be forgiven for thinking that Barack Obama meant that Jerusalem should be the undivided capital of Israel.

Apparently, what Obama actually meant--according to his statements yesterday--was that the status of Jerusalem will need to be negotiated in future peace talks. In Obama's mind it is apparently possible for Jerusalem to be divided--into the capitals of Israel and a Palestinian state--and undivided at the same time.

Many people have not yet leared that Barack Obama will say anything to anyone in order to be elected.
