American Psychiatric Association panel cancelled

According to the Washington Times, the American Psychiatric Association had scheduled a panel discussion on homosexuality. The panel was assembled by "David Scasta, a former APA president and a gay psychiatrist."

When gay activists, however, discovered that Dr. Scasta had included two Evangelicals on the panel, the gaycitynews and The Blade came out with articles condemning the program and soon the program was cancelled under the pressure from gays.

What are they afraid of? Is their position so intellectually weak that they can't even tolerate a balanced discussion of the issues? This is just one more case in which the fascist nature of some radical gay-rights organizations is exposed for what it is. They don't want tolerance. They don't want discussion. Its their way or no way.

So it is with most of the liberal agenda. NO DISSENT TOLERATED!

You're right, Jazzycat. Another example would be the attempt to suppress intelligent design.

The "liberals" are really not "liberal" anymore. Liberal once meant a respect for free speech and a tolerance for all perspectives. Today's "liberalism" appears to be more like fascism.

Let us remember that "radicals" of any stripe rarely represent more than the fringe of a movement. Radical Left/Radical Right should always be viewed through that perspective. My point being, that the homosexuals that destroy free speech on a campus do not represent the overall homosexual community any more than nazis represent all of those right of center. It is unfortunate that moderate voices on campuses cannot/will not stand up to the extremes within their midst.

Professor ed,

I agree, especially with the last part, "It is unfortunate that moderate voices on campuses cannot/will not stand up to the extremes within their midst." I think the fact that more of the moderates do not stand up only hurts their cause.
