Expelled, The Movie

Watch the trailer for "Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed." Then go see the movie when it comes out.

I'll post the same comment that I have posted on 30 other blogs - It's a lying political propaganda mockumentary.

You must be referring to your own e-mail because I know its not true of the movie. Are you afraid people will watch the movie and find out how defensive and downright fascist some in the scientific community have become?

"defensive"

It's true. Scientists wish to defend high school biology classes from nonsense. The Dover school board paid $1 million to discover that religion was not allowed in the high school classroom. But the state legislatures are now considering silly laws and the Texas Board of Education is almost controlled by creationists.

Whether we are talking about global warming, intelligent design or any other issue on which scientists disagree, there are some scientists who seem to want to declare the other side of the issue to be "nonsense" and expect that no one should be able to discuss the issue any more.

The Expelled movie is about censorship. The movie is just arguing that all sides should be heard. That's not to say that any nut job should be heard, but the people being "Expelled" or censored have Ph.D's in the field and were part of the faculty of reputable institution until they mentioned intelligent design or opposed global warming.

Are you advocating censorship?

"The Expelled movie is about censorship."

Riiiiight. They have their books, articles, blogs, and a movie with 500,000 paying customers. They are obviously not being censored very well at all.

But when they try to get their nonsense published in scientific peer-reviewed journals, they have to cheat to succeed. And the editor that cheated got criticized! Oh no! And the astronomer that should have been working towards achieving tenure published a popular book of nonsense. And neglected research, funding, and graduate students. And didn't get tenure. Oh no!

And "Darwin led to Hitler" is all about censorship. Riiiight. What about "Martin Luther led to Hitler"?

Isn't it amazing how Leftists who pretend to be so open-minded, so tolerant, and so anti-censorship, can be so illogical, inconsistent, and pro-censorship when it comes to views they dislike?

The movie was about scientists who were fired, denied tenure or otherwise sanctioned for their views on intelligent design. The movie said nothing about blogs or books.

And the movie made the connection between social Darwinism and Hitler quite clear--it was what Hitler's super race was all about. But Martin Luther and Hitler? What kind of stupidity is that?

And of course any view which doesn't agree with onein6billion MUST be nonsense.

"The movie was about scientists who were fired, denied tenure or otherwise sanctioned for their views on intelligent design."

And the other side of the story is that this is a lie.

"And the movie made the connection between social Darwinism and Hitler quite clear."

So what? That does not have much to do with the scientific theory of evolution. And there have not been very many social darwinists putting this into practice in the last 60 years.

"But Martin Luther and Hitler? What kind of stupidity is that?"

Stupidity on your part if you deny it. What was the motto on the German soldiers' belt buckles?

Social Darwinism was grounded in the Darwin's survival of the fittest science. Ideas have consequences and the Nazi's were just taking Darwinism to its logical conclusion. They thought they were the fittest, the master race and that it was only fitting that they destroy other races (like the Jews) that they thought to be inferior.

But because the Nazi Germany belt buckle read "Gott Mit Uns" you think that somehow ties them with the theology of Martin Luther?

This conversation is over. Come back when you can reason logically.

"the Nazi's were just taking Darwinism to its logical conclusion."

So what? Do you think that that proves that the Modern Scientific Theory of Evolution is wrong? Do you wish to replace it with religious nonsense?

What kind of stupid "logic" is that?
