Liberal madness

"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded...Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave." (Dr. Lyle Rossiter, board-certified clinical psychiatrist, quoted in WND).
I don't think anyone can psychologically diagnose an entire group of people, but the title is certainly entertaining!

Perhaps research should begin in searching for the liberal gene. It will certainly be defective if found.

Yes, anyone who has beliefs other than yours must be defective. Real mature.

In the interest of balance, I will present a short excerpt from a book by Bob Altemeyer, a psychology professor (a resident of Canada who claims to have no ties to either party) who did extensive research and found that right-wingers in the U.S. are much more likely to be followers (called "right-wing authoritarians"):

"A high [right-wing authoritarian] can have all sorts of illogical, self-contradictory and widely refuted ideas rattling around in various boxes in his brain, and never notice it. . . .

Research reveals that authoritarian followers drive through life under the influence of impaired thinking a lot more than most people do, exhibiting sloppy reasoning, highly compartmentalized beliefs, double standards, hypocrisy, self-blindness, a profound ethnocentrism, and -- to top it all off -- a ferocious dogmatism that makes it unlikely anyone could ever change their minds with evidence or logic."

Brent, Jazzycat's statement (and my original post) was intended as humor (I won't quit my day job). I don't think she deserved the "real mature" slam.

And regarding the psychologist who found that right-wingers have all sorts of illogical ideas: If a liberal psychologist was himself in the grips of political madness, wouldn't you expect his research to reflect such illogical thinking :-)

I knew jazzycat was joking to some extent, but I tend to take slams against the left more or less at face value on this Blog. My apologies for taking it too far.

Joking, yes, but at the expense of half of your country...
