Children

I doubt that Hillary would dare to use a similar ad against McCain

Guns and crime rates

According to a brief submitted to the Supreme Court:
When sexual assaults started rising in Orlando, Fla., in 1966, police officers noticed women were arming themselves, so they launched a firearms safety course for them. Over the next 12 months, sexual assaults plummeted by 88 percent, burglaries fell by 25 percent and not one of the 2,500 women who took the course fired a gun in a confrontation.

…when the Georgia town of Kennesaw decided to require all residents, with exceptions for conscientious objectors, to keep a firearm at home, home burglaries fell from 66 to 26 to 11 in consecutive years.

...based on interviews with felony prisoners in 11 prisons in 10 states, one third of the felons had been "scared off, shot at, wounded or captured by an armed victim," and nearly four in 10 had decided against committing a specific crime because they thought the victim might have a gun.

"Seventy-four percent agreed with the statement that 'One reason burglars avoid houses where people are at home is that they fear being shot," (WND)

Gay pride trumps Constitution

According to WorldNetDaily: “At issue is the arrest of several Christians at a "gay pride" event in Wisner Park in Elmira in 2007. Julian and Gloria Raven and several others entered the park to pray silently for the participants of the event celebrating homosexual behavior.”

Apparently in Elmira, NY, political correctness even trumps the Constitutional guarantee of freedom of speech and freedom of religion! You can expect much more of this if Obama gets his way with hate crimes legislation.

Planned Parenthood Racism Investigation

To the KKK and other despicable white supremacist groups: If you'd like to keep the black population down, you apparently have a friend in Planned Parenthood! Absolutely sickening!

Obama and al Qaeda in Iraq

In the debate Tuesday night Barack Obama said, "If Al Qaeda is forming a base in Iraq, then we will have to act in a way that secures the American homeland and our interests abroad."

McCain responded, "I have news for Senator Obama. Al Qaeda is in Iraq. And that's why we're fighting in Iraq, and that's why we're succeeding in Iraq."

To which Senator Obama responded, "I have some news for John McCain, and that is there was no such thing as al Qaeda in Iraq until George Bush and John McCain decided to invade Iraq" (U.S. News).

Obama is clueless! First, Obama's assertion about there being no al Qaeda in Iraq before Bush and McCain (he left out the many Democrats in Congress including Hillary) decided to invade Iraq, is simply wrong. An ABC News report on Iraqi documents, and George Tenet (the Clinton appointed CIA director) both said that al Qaeda was in Iraq before we invaded!

Second, Obama is saying that if elected President he would pull out of Iraq, but if he discovered that al-Qaeda was setting up bases in Iraq, he would respond. Obama apparently didn't know that al Qaeda is already in Iraq and yet after being informed of that fact, he still wants to pull out immediately! So is he lying about responding? Or maybe his idea of a strong response would be to talk to al Qaeda leadership?

Obama is so clueless he would be a dangerous choice for President.

"Not one substantive hearing"

During the debate in Cleveland, Hillary Clinton said about Barack Obama:
"He chairs the subcommittee on Europe. It has jurisdiction over NATO. NATO is critical to our mission in Afghanistan...He's held not one substantive hearing to do oversight, to figure out what we can do to actually have a stronger presence with NATO in Afghanistan" (CNN).
If someone is not taking care of the responsiblities they already have, why on earth would anyone vote to give him greater responsiblity?

"Final nuclear victory"

Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, recently said, "Everybody has understood that Iran is the number one power in the world," and, "The Iranian nation is on the verge of the final nuclear victory and no power can stop this nation" (Australian).

What everyone understands is that Ahmadinejad is a big windbag, but this windbag is on the verge of becoming a nuclear windbag if no one stops him. This is not the time to elect a novice to the office of President. We need experience, and experience in the Illinois state legislature just doesn't cut it!

Some people have compared Barack Obama to John F. Kennedy, both of whom were relatively inexperienced. But what are they saying? That anyone with very little experience can succeed at being President of the United States just because Kennedy did it? What nonsense!

Besides, John F. Kennedy’s father had been an ambassador to Great Britain which presumably means that foreign affairs was in the air at the Kennedy household, JFK had served in the military (unlike Obama), was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1947 and to the U.S. Senate in 1952. I would take Kennedy’s experience over Obama’s any day.

Jihadists are a tiny minority

A new survey confirms what the Left has been saying all along, that is, that radical Muslims are only a tiny minority among the world's Muslims. According to a major Gallup survey, only 7% of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims are radical (AFP).

Before you put your mind too much at ease, you should know that this comes to 91 million radical Jihadists! My understanding is that as of 1934 Adolf Hitler had an army of about 300,000 men. Imagine what he could have done with 91 million! The entire world would probably be speaking German today.

Did Obama lie about NAFTA?

If this story is true it makes me wonder, what else is he lying to us about?
Did Sen. Barack Obama say one thing privately to the Canadian government about NAFTA -- and something very different during Tuesday night's debate? The answer is yes, according to CTV, a Canadian television network. The network reported Wednesday night that a "senior member" of the Obama campaign called Michael Wilson, the Canadian ambassador to the U.S., "within the last month," warning Wilson that Obama would "take some heavy swings" at the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as part of his campaign.

Obama insider reportedly told the ambassador, "Don't worry -- it's just campaign rhetoric, it's not serious," CTV reported. CTV reported that the Obama campaign's message to Wilson was taken as "completely authentic" by the Canadian government. (Read the rest at CNSNews).

Global cooling

From Brit Hume's "Grapevine" last night:
Tuesday we told you about several areas around the planet experiencing
record cold and snowpack — in the face of all the predictions of global
warming.

Now there is word that all four major global temperature tracking
outlets have released data showing that temperatures have dropped significantly
over the last year. California meteorologist Anthony Watts says the amount of
cooling ranges from 65-hundredths of a degree Centigrade to 75-hundreds of a
degree.

That is said to be a value large enough to erase nearly all the
global warming recorded over the past 100 years. It is reportedly the single
fastest temperature change ever recorded — up or down.

Some scientists contend the cooling is the result of reduced solar activity — which they say is a larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases.

UCC church under investigation

This morning FoxNews reported that the IRS is investigating a United Church of Christ for tax code violations because the church invited Barack Obama to speak in their church last year.

IRS interference in churches really needs to stop! As long as churches are not preaching violence (and I've never heard of one that did) the government needs to keep their hands off—even if those churches want to support (shudder) Barack Obama!

This is a matter of freedom of speech and freedom of religion. It amazes me that those on the Left who come unglued when the government wants to wire tape terrorists, are so silent when the government investigates churches simply for supporting a political candidate!

Barack Obama's votes

Behind all the rhetoric there really is some substance behind Barack Obama. For example,
"ABC News sent Terry Moran to Springfield, the capital of Illinois, to explore
Barack Obama’s record as a state Senator and, deep in his Monday story on World
News, Moran acknowledged a reality rarely mentioned in network campaign
coverage"

"Obama was...considered a reliable liberal Democratic vote in
Illinois, voting for most gun control measures, opposing efforts to ban
so-called “partial birth abortions,” and supporting hundreds of tax increases."

"Moran's recognition of Obama's liberal ideology aired just a day after Cokie
Roberts, in the roundtable on Sunday's This Week on ABC…contended that the
Illinois Senator, “oddly enough given the rhetoric, has not reached across the
aisle and worked with people in the other party to get things done…”"

"…Obama voted not for or against but "present" on 129 bills, including a bill to
ban sex shops and strip clubs near schools, churches, and day-care centers, and
a bill to allow juveniles who committed a crime with a gun near a school to be
tried as adults." (NewsBusters).

This is certainly not the kind of substance I want in a President.

Obama funding terrorists?

According to an article published yesterday in WND Barack Obama did fundraising for a Palestinian camp with ties to terrorism:
Obama's 1999 fundraising for the Palestinian Deheisha camp raised the
eyebrows of one senior Israeli security official who was contacted yesterday for
comment on the issue. The official, who was not aware of Obama's fundraising,
noted Deheisha, which is located near the city of Bethlehem, had a "very active"
Palestinian terror apparatus in 1999, carrying out scores of deadly shootings
against Israeli civilians that year.

Two of the most deadly suicide bombings in 2002 also were planned from Deheisha, where the suicide bombers originated, said the security official. On one such bombing, in March of that year, 11 people were killed and over 50 injured, four critically when a Deheisha bomber detonated his explosives next to a group of Jewish women waiting with their baby carriages for their husbands to leave a nearby synagogue.

Hillary Clinton

I hate to agree with Hillary but I think she's got Obama pegged!

Liberal insanity

Yesterday I posted on a new book called, The Liberal Mind; the Psychological Causes of Political Madness. I was reminded of this book as I was listening to the Michael Medved radio talk show on the way home from work today.

One of the listeners who called in began (in all seriousness) ranting about how Bush was the great Hitler, and how Hamas, Hezbollah and al Qaeda were not terrorist organizations but that Bush and America are the terrorists.

He continued ranting about how Bush was responsible for 911, and how Bush killed everyone in Iraq and Oklahoma (the caller was blaming McVeigh's terrorism on Bush but he actually said Bush killed everyone in Oklahoma)!

It is perfectly legitimate for the Left to disagree with President Bush and American policies (Even I disagree with many of Bush's policies), but when someone like this idiot caller says, in all seriousness, that Hamas, Hezbollah and Al Qaeda are not terrorist organizations, but that Bush and America are the terrorists, or when he compares Bush to Hitler--that is not just irrational, it is insanity!

Of course not all Leftists are like this caller, but unfortunately there seems to be a significant number who are! For example, when MSNBC's Keith Oberman said Fox News was worse than Al Qaeda. Or when John Murtha, before the facts were known, compared the Haditha incident with the My Lai massacre! Or the "General Betray Us advertisement. Or when a Leftist judge declared that an animal is no different than a child. Or when CODEPINK supplied hundreds of thousands of dollars to terrorists! Or when Rosie O'Donnel compared conservative Christians to Islamic terrorists and her audience irrupted in applause!

There are also many on the Left who genuinely seem to think that 911 was an inside job. And the caller is certanly not the only Leftist who has compared President Bush to Adolf Hitler!

Is it really any wonder why some of us might think that many on the Left are not playing with a full deck? The real mystery is why the more sane Left doesn’t distance themselves from these loonies.

Martin Luther King and abortion

Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King is upset with Planned Parenthood’s use of Dr. King in promoting its organization. Some of her quotes appear below but please read the entire article at Christian Newswire.
"Planned Parenthood is no stranger to deception. I know firsthand because prior to my abortion, a Planned Parenthood doctor told me that my baby was just a 'blob of tissue,'"

"Now, Planned Parenthood lies by trying to imply that my uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., would somehow endorse the organization today. He most certainly would not."

"Uncle Martin accepted an award from Planned Parenthood in 1966 when abortion was illegal in every state and before Planned Parenthood started publicly advocating
for it,"

"In 1966, neither the general public nor my uncle was aware of the true agenda of Planned Parenthood, an agenda of death that has become painfully obvious as the years have unfolded."

"There is no way he [Dr. King] would want his name or image associated today with Planned Parenthood, the group most responsible for denying civil rights to the over 45 million American babies killed by abortion, one-third of them African-American.”

Breaking: Ralph Nadar running

Ralph Nadar has announced that he is running for President.

Woohoo! Maybe he'll take enough votes away from Obama or Hillary to get McCain elected!

Liberal madness

"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded...Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave." (Dr. Lyle Rossiter, board-certified clinical psychiatrist, quoted in WND).
I don't think anyone can psychologically diagnose an entire group of people, but the title is certainly entertaining!

Hotbeds of anti-Western extremism

"An undercover survey of more than 100 mosques and Islamic schools in America has exposed widespread radicalism, including the alarming finding that 3 in 4 Islamic centers are hotbeds of anti-Western extremism" (WorldNetDaily).

The time has come for America's moderate Muslims to make their voice heard and start vigorously and vocally protesting this extremism before they are silenced by the extremists. Or maybe they are so silent because they are already afraid of the extremists?

Shame on you, Barack

"Shame on you, Barack Obama...It is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public. That's what I expect from you." (Hillary Clinton scolding Obama for sending out "misleading policy mailings." AFP)

Slavery, a very short history

Earlier this month, First Things; The Journal of Religion, Culture and Public Life, published an outstanding article on slavery. Every American needs to read this article. I've copied a few excerpts below but when you have time please read the entire article.

It has become a feature of today’s atheist chic to shy bricks at Christianity for its record on slavery.

Combine this with a historical critique that relentlessly portrays the West as the aggressors against the rest of the world, and as uniquely responsible for its evils, and Westerners’ will to defend something as rotten as Western civilization begins to ebb away.

No culture on earth, Christian or otherwise, ever questioned the morality of slavery until relatively recent times.

But in the popular mind the onus for slavery is squarely on the West.

Some Americans might be surprised to learn that the British, or anyone besides American southerners, ever owned slaves, since after coming through American schools as they stand today many people no doubt have the impression that slavery was invented in Charleston and Mobile.

The first legally recognized slave in the American colonies was owned by a black man
who had himself arrived as an indentured servant.

Likewise unacknowledged has been the role that Christian principles played in the abolition of slavery in the West, which was an enterprise unprecedented in the annals of human history.

Still, there was no consensus about slavery within Christendom. Slavery persisted, and was at times even given ecclesiastical sanction.

The pioneering English abolitionists Thomas Clarkson (1760–1846) and William Wilberforce (1759–1833) were both motivated to work for an end to slavery by their deep Christian faith; so was the American anti-slavery crusader William Lloyd Garrison (1805–1879)

In the Islamic world, however, the situation is very different. The Muslim prophet Muhammad owned slaves

The Qur’an even gives a man permission to have sexual relations with his slave girls

The Qur’an says that the followers of Muhammad are “ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another” (48:29), and that the unbelievers are the “worst of
created beings” (98:6). One may exercise the Golden Rule in relation to a fellow
Muslim, but according to the worldview presented by such verses and others like
them, the same courtesy is not properly to be extended to unbelievers.

That is one principal reason why the primary source of slaves in the Islamic world
has been non-Muslims, whether Jews, Christians, Hindus or pagans.

Yet while the European and American slave trade get lavish attention from historians...the Islamic slave trade actually lasted longer and brought suffering to a larger number of people. It is exceedingly ironic that Islam has been presented to American blacks as the egalitarian alternative to the “white man’s slave religion” of Christianity, since Islamic slavery operated on a larger scale than did the Western slave trade, and lasted longer.

Slavery was abolished under Western pressure; the Arab Muslim slave trade in Africa was ended by the force of British arms in the nineteenth century.

There is evidence that slavery still continues beneath the surface in some majority-Muslim countries as well—notably Saudi Arabia, which only abolished slavery in 1962, Yemen and Oman, both of which ended legal slavery in 1970, and Niger, which didn’t abolish slavery until 2004. In Niger, the ban is widely ignored, and as many as one million people remain in bondage. Slaves are bred, often raped, and generally
treated like animals.

Slavery is still practiced openly today in two Muslim countries, Sudan and Mauritania. In line with historical practice, Muslim slavers in the Sudan primarily enslave non-Muslims, and chiefly Christians.

Most Westerners have not troubled to learn this history, and no one is telling them about it. If they did, the entire slavery guiltmongering industry would collapse. And we can’t let that happen, now, can we?

Obama's and racism

In a recent NewsMax article, Jay Kessler writes:
Michelle Obama’s comment that, for the first time in her adult life, she feels
proud of America helps crystallize who Barack Obama is.

To be sure, the wife of a candidate is perfectly free to have views that are distinct from her husband’s. But on a matter that is so fundamental to one’s being as love of
country, it is difficult to imagine that Michelle Obama would publicly twice make such a statement suggesting disdain for America unless she felt it comported with her husband’s views.

Equally important, her statement aligns perfectly with the hate-America views of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama’s minister, friend, and sounding board for more than two decades…Wright has been a key supporter of Louis Farrakhan, and in December, honored the Nation of Islam leader for lifetime achievement, saying he “truly epitomize[s] greatness.”
If one Sunday my pastor voiced his support for a racist (e.g. a white supremacist version of Louis Farrakhan), it would be my last Sunday at that church. The real question is not so much about Michelle Obama’s statement, but about why the Obama’s stayed at this racist church for 20 years!

Obama's accomplishments

State Senator Kirk Watson (D. Texas) is a strong Obama supporter. Recently MSNBC's Chris Matthews was hounding Mr. Watson mercilessly on national TV to provide a single legislative accomplishment by Senator Obama. Watson could not think of a single one. Not one!

Someone please help this poor man. Surely Obama must have done something! Please tell me that millions of Americans have not been sucked in to supporting Obama just because he is a mesmerizing speaker who promises the moon! History if filled with mesmerizing speakers who promise the moon and deliver nightmares.

Watch the video on Wonkette (hat tip: Robert).

UPDATE: l'oiseau, one of my newer responders, rose to the challenge and provided an excellent list of Obama's legislative accomplishments. Click on "comments."

The terrorist threat

While American Leftists charge Republicans with "fear mongering" "US Military Commanders Bemoan Lack of Concern About Terror Threat." Read the story at CNSNews.

Kosovo, a threat?

According to an article on WorldNetDaily:
Far from the usual claims that NATO stopped a humanitarian catastrophe in
Kosovo in 1999, the past nine years have seen a slow-motion genocide in progress
against the province's Christian Serbian population under the nose of the U.N.
and NATO, and at times with their facilitation. Two-thirds of the Serbian
population already has been expelled and have not been able to return safely to
their homes, along with similar proportions of other groups (Roma, Gorani,
Croats and all the Jews). Over 150 churches and monasteries have been destroyed,
with crosses and icons of Christ attracting particular vandalistic rage, a
testament to Kosovo Albanians' supposed secularism and pro-Western
orientation.

Barack Obama's ostrich politics

How is Obama promoting ostrich politics? Let me count the ways:

Bill Clinton assured us that Iraq was pursuing WMD. The CIA (led by an appointee of a Democratic president), assured us that Iraq had WMD. England’s intelligence agencies assured us that Iraq had WMD. Other European intelligence agencies said the same. There is no doubt that Iraq was a state sponsor of terror. But Obama is proud of the fact that even though other Democrats voted for the war, he was against the war! What about next time? Would Obama stick his head in the sand and wait until someone actually unleashed WMD on us before acting? Would he even act then? Ostrich politics!

When the United States suddenly packed up and left Vietnam, thousands of innocent people were left at the mercy of our enemies and were ruthlessly slaughtered. Barack Obama wants to stick his head in the sand and do the same thing to innocent people in Iraq. Ostrich politics!

Syria wants to destroy Israel. Hezbollah wants to destroy Israel. Hamas wants to destroy Israel. Fatah wants to destroy Israel. Pakistan has nukes and is in turmoil. Al Qaeda wants to destroy both Israel AND the West. Iran wants to destroy both Israel AND the West. And Barack’s plan is to have a big summit conference and talk about it! Sounds good! Maybe we could offer everyone some kitties and ponies while we’re talking. Naive, ostrich politics!

Obama’s website says he plans to double our foreign aid! Does he honestly think this will help America’s image? We already give billions in foreign aid and it does nothing for our image! Why should he think that doubling that amount will. Ostrich politics!

Obama’s website says he will make “a sustained push—working with Israelis and Palestinians—to achieve the goal of two states…” Not too many years ago Israel pretty much offered to give up the farm so to speak, in order to have peace with the Palestinians. The Palestinians rejected every offer! They do not want peace—they want the destruction of Israel. We don’t have to guess about this. This is what they say openly! Obama is living in a dangerous fantasy land. Ostrich politics!

Obama’s web site says, “Obama believes that we must talk openly about nuclear weapons – because the best way to keep America safe is not to threaten terrorists with nuclear weapons, it's to keep nuclear weapons away from terrorists.” Hmmm, why hasn’t anyone else ever thought about keeping nuclear weapons away from terrorists? But what a good plan Obama has! If we just “talk openly about nuclear weapons” and stop threatening terrorists, everything will be OK. Ostrich politics!

Obama’s web site says that “Obama will crack down on nuclear proliferation by strengthening the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty so that countries like North Korea and Iran that break the rules will automatically face strong international sanctions. Hmmm, good idea. Sanctions certainly kept North Korea from getting Nuclear weapons….oh, wait. Bad example! They now have nuclear weapons! Ostrich politics!

Obama’s website says that “Obama strongly believes that our foreign policy is stronger when Americans are united, and the government is open and candid with the American people.” I see, so if our President was just more candid, all Americans would be more united? What nonsense! Ostrich politics!

According to his website, Obama wants to:

* Provide a “Making work pay” tax credit for Americans to give them free government money (which, like the recent rebate approved by Democrats and Republicans, is just taking money from one of your pockets so they can put it back in your other pocket and make themselves look generous in the process)

* Increase the minimum wage and tie it to inflation

* Expand the earned income tax credit to give even more tax money back

* Force employers to provide more family and medical leave for their workers (whether small companies can afford it or not)

* Provide 1.5 billion to help states adopt paid leave systems

* Expand the child and dependent care tax credit

* Provide federal funding for afterschool programs and 21st century learning centers

* Increase “federal incentives” for telecommuting

* Invest “$10 billion per year to create: Early Learning Challenge Grants

* Double our aid to foreign countries

* “ensure that all children have access to pre-school”

* “provide affordable and high-quality [read government controlled] child care”

* “provide service scholarships” for teachers

* “ensure that the first $4,000 of a college education is completely free for most Americans [that is, for those who do not chose to go to a religious college…although Christians and Jews pay taxes too, Obama’s program only covers those who get government indoctrination, er, education]

* Provide universal health legislation…that ensures all Americans have high-quality, affordable health care coverage” [high quality like that in Canada?]

* Give a 10% tax credit to an additional 10 million homeowners

* “double federal funding for basic research”

* Double energy research and development funding

* “make the research and development tax credit permanent”

* Increase funding for federal workforce training programs

* “create an energy-focused youth jobs program”

* Invest $150 billion over the next ten years in clean energy

* “invest $1 billion over five years in transitional jobs and career pathway programs,”

* “ensure that low-income Americans have transportation access to jobs,”

* “ensure that ex-offenders have access to job training, substance abuse and mental health counseling, and employment opportunities,” [can’t afford mental health counseling? Just rob a store and the government will pay the bill!],

* “create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund to develop affordable housing in mixed-income neighborhoods,”

* “fund the Community Development Block Grant program,”

* “create 20 Promise Neighborhoods” which will provide “a full network of services, including early childhood education, youth violence prevention efforts and after-school activities, to an entire neighborhood from birth to college” [emphasis mine],

* Eliminate the income tax for seniors making less than $50,000,

* “increase funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP),”

* Keep all veterans from being homeless,

* “fully fund the VA and “establish a world-class VA Planning Division to avoid future budget shortfalls,”

* “improve mental health care at every stage of military services.”

* Recruit more health professionals, for the military

* Make strengthening our transportation systems, including our roads and bridges, a top priority.”

And this is only a partial list of what Obama wants to spend your money on! Frankly, I even like some of Obama’s proposals, and some of them would benefit me directly. But why stop here? Why not just offer cradle to grave medical, dental, housing, clothing, food, transportation and education for all Americans, even for those who are “motivationally challenged” and don’t really want to work for a living? There are several things about this list that some Obama supporters don’t seem to understand.

First, the government doesn’t pay for all of this. It comes out of YOUR paycheck!

Second, these programs are not like funding the Iraq war. When the war is over, the funding stops. Obama sticks his head in the sand and ignores the fact that once government entitlement programs get established, they are never over. They just get bigger and bigger and more and more expensive—and often, more and more riddled with government bureaucratic bungling and corruption! Obama sticks his head in the sand and ignores the fact that government often messes up just about every program it touches.

Third, make no mistake about it, what government funds, government controls so we are giving up more and more of our freedom to the nanny state. While other countries are discovering that socialism/communism doesn’t work, Obama sticks his head in the sand and ignores this reality on his way to making America socialist!

Fourth, Obama seems to be promising everything to everyone in order to get elected. He sticks his head in the sand and is either too naive or too deceptive to acknowledge the fact that there is no way he could deliver on all this--not even if his Congress was controlled by Democrats! Ostrich politics!

Finally, Obama’s website says he will stop the development of nuclear weapons and “will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons, and pursue it.” What a great idea! I’m wondering, though. When we think all the nuclear weapons have been destroyed, including ours, what happens when we discover that the bad guys were able to conceal five or ten of theirs? Game over. We’re dead. Terminal ostrich politics!

Obama: drugs, gay sex and intimidation?

According to an article in WorldNetDaily, Larry Sinclair alleges that he took drugs and had gay sex with Barack Obama. Sinclair has now filed a lawsuit in Minnesota District Court "alleging threats and intimidation by Obama's staff."

Anyone who has read my blog knows how concerned I am about Barack Obama's candidacy, but I am also concerned about how damaging it is to the democratic process when sleaze balls lie through their teeth about political or judicial candidates.

I know slander laws are hard to enforce when someone in the public eye is involved, but if Mr. Sinclair's allegations are lies, he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If his allegations are true, the public should know. Where are the Woodward's and Bernstein's when you need them?

UPDATE: WorldNetDaily is reporting that Obama's accuser has failed two polygraph tests. I think the man should be prosecuted.

Obama, not proud of America

In a recent speech, Michelle Obama said, "For the first time in my adult lifetime I'm proud of my country."

Does Barack share that opinion? Will he come out and strongly denounce his wife's shameful unpatriotic, anti-Americanism? Do you really want a President whose wife has never before been proud of her country?

Obama's ostrich politics

Barack Obama loves to accuse his opponents of the "politics of fear." Frankly, I think Mr. Obama is engaging in the politics of an ostrich....stick your head in the sand and hope against hope that the danger will subside and everything will be OK.

The world is too dangerous for such naiveté. Ostrich politics could get us killed!

AIDS is a "gay disease"

According to CNSNews:

In a startling admission, the head of a major homosexual activist group
said HIV/AIDS is a "gay disease." The comments were made last Friday at the
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force's (NGLTF) national conference in Detroit by
Executive Director Matt Foreman."Folks, with 70 percent of the people in this
country living with HIV being gay or bi (sexual), we cannot deny that HIV is a
gay disease," Foreman told his audience. "We have to own that and face up to
that."
I think the media and our schools need to promote the idea that gay people, like everyone else, need to be treated with dignity and respect. But in light of the AIDS epidemic, it is just plain insanity for society to promote the idea that men having sex with men is a normal, alternative lifestyle.

Some groups actually promote this insanity even to to kids who are supposedly "questioning" their sexuality. Many radical gay organizations even oppose other gays who want to escape their dangerous lifestyles. And unfortunately, many gutless, spineless Americans (and American politicians)--terrified at the prospect of being out of step with the current political correctness--simply nod approvingly as our schools and the media promote lifestyles leading to agony and death.

Muslims and polygamy

I frequently read a moderate Muslim blog called, Muslim Matters. Several people post to this blog and recently a Pakistani woman named Irum provided a facinating discussion on the issue of multiple wife’s in Islam. I thought it provided an insightful look into the world of Islam from a Muslim perspective. I've summarized Irum's arguments below. My comments below are in [brackets].

Irum wrote “It’s been years and years and I still haven’t found a single woman who wouldn’t object to her husband’s second marriage….” In fact, if she’s ever in a boring party all she has to do is bring up the subject and the women get into such a heated discussion that you’d think their husbands were about to get married in the next room!

Irum she said in Asian societies the second marriage is the worst thing that can happen to a women but “The Arabs have no issue with it because that is the way they’ve been raised to view it.” In Pakistani society, she said, the worst thing that can happen to a woman is divorce because then the woman “becomes free game.” She is better off with “a husband with two wives than no husband at all”

[I’m not sure what Irum means by “free game” but I’ve read numerous horror stories about how women in Pakistan are raped, beaten, blamed for their own rape and then killed in honor killings…by Muslims. It doesn’t sound like Irum ever asks herself what’s wrong with Pakistan’s brand of Islam]

Even after years of consideration, Irum said she still can’t understand why “the vast majority of Muslim wives cannot stand to even discuss the topic without losing their cool.” First, “if Allah has permitted it, how can one oppose it? Second, like keeping an animal tied up in the back yard, how can you keep your husband tied down to just one wife?"

[Hmmm, I’d like to hear Western women respond to that one]. Irum continues, saying, "the husband should follow the Qur’an by keeping equality between his wives, but that is his problem, not the problem of his wives."

Irum argues that one of the main reasons many would want a second wife is because he’s fallen out of love with the first one. So, she asks, “why should the first wife care what he does or doesn’t do when the major factor, love, has fallen out of her equation with him?”

Irum asks, “So why are Muslim women still hell bent to oppose a law pre-determined by Allah?” If her husband wants to marry someone else, is “he still emotionally the husband that she should be so innately possessive about?” Why be possessive about him if he no longer has regards for your feelings?

[I’m puzzled by Irum’s apparent coldness here. It’s like, OK, so your husband doesn’t love you anymore, why are you upset about the second wife then? Perhaps the women are upset about the package of the broken relationship/lack of love leading to the second marriage].

Irum cites another woman who suggests that if your husband is looking for a second wife, you should try to find out what you're doing wrong.

[I’m amazed that the woman Irum cited seems to automatically assume that if a husband is looking for a second wife, it must be the first wife’s fault. Could it possibly be that the husband is just a scumbag?]

Irum responds saying that many woman do try to “fix the leaks in the ship of her marriage” but don’t succeed. In that case, Irum says, she should just let him off the hook. She says, that’s a “very very good bargain” for the first wife because she will have no regrets about not trying to make the marriage work, her rights as a wife will still be taken care of, and her kids will still have a father.

[And she can live in a loveless marriage the rest of her life with no chance of ever having her husband all to herself again, having been replaced by a second, or third or fourth wife. I’m sure she’ll want to celebrate!]

Irum admits that the second marriage is not just a big deal, but always “a HUGE deal to women who take any such discourse as a personal attack on their relationship with their husbands. She says, “I just want to get to the bottom of why women oppose what Islam permits.”

[Unfortunately, I’m sure Irum would never for a moment entertain the possibility that Islam is wrong].

One of Irum's friends objected, “Why does it upset women? Ask yourself. Show me a single woman who would like to share their husband with anyone.”

In response, Irum expresses her agreement with a woman who says, ‘The Quran has clearly stated that a man can keep four wives simultaneously. Allah has given him the permission. So how can a woman say no to that…are you saying no to Allah…” She could divorce him but “Allah intensely dislikes” divorce and besides “Is she going to deprive them of a father and a normal family life at the hands of her obstinacy, jealousy and stubbornness?" [Notice that Irum and the woman which whom she is agreeing place the entire blame on the woman].

Someone else told Irum, “I refuse to agree with you. Maintaining equality between wives might be his problem, but in what context is it not our problem? Any woman will go through '—–' (excuse my French) when she hears that her husband is going to remarry……and by expecting a 'human being' not to feel, think and imagine the repercussions due to this, in my humble opinion, is being nothing short of hypocrisy."

[Sounds like there are Muslim women who would agree with my assessment above about Irum’s apparent coldness]

The woman went on to say that if her husband got a second wife, she would treat him as an acquaintance and nothing else.

Irum says that this response “best reflects the mindset of the majority” of Muslim women and indicates that such women are really attached to their husbands. Maybe even to the point of being jealous and possessive”, a trait she says is very common in women. [And not in men?]

Irum’s conclusion, “We are all commodities of Allah” and we should live by his rules. Irum agreed with another lady who said the whole problem “is with that little sound within ourselves, the sound that tells us ‘I am the greatest’… THE EGO….” Ego says, “Why should we share?” “Point being, get rid of that ego thing.”

[According to the Gospels, Jesus once said, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female…Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two but one flesh.” Although Jesus is specifically talking about divorce here, it seems to me that, Jesus is indicating that God’s intention for marriage from the beginning was one man and one women, not multiple wives. This seems to be how Paul understood Jesus because Paul’s teaching on marriage never hints at polygamy but always implies one man married to one woman].

Qur'an 15

I'm several days late this time, but Robert Spencer's commentary on the Qur'an, sura 15 is available on Hot Air.

Imad Mughniyeh killed

Yesterday (February 13), Imad Fayez Mughniyeh was assassinated.

Mughniyeh “served as special operations chief for Hizballah's international operations and as the group's primary liaison to Iran's security and intelligence services.” He “oversaw the group's terror network and established operational cells around the world.” Mughniyeh was involved in “the 1983 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Beirut that killed sixty-three people,” the “twin truck bombings in Beirut...killing fifty-eight, and a U.S. army barracks, killing 241 marines.” He was implicated in “the 1985 hijacking of TWA flight 847, which resulted in the execution of U.S. navy diver Robert Stetham.” In 1992 Mughniyeh was involved in “the March 1992 bombing of the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires that killed twenty-nine people” and in 1994 “he directed the bombing of the Asociacion Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) in the same city, killing eight-five” (Policy Watch).

As a result of his death, tens of thousands of members of "the Religion of Peace" turned out today to show their support for this monster and to condemn his death…and Hezbollah declared “open war” on Israel.

Fox News

"In a surprising admission, Hillary Clinton says Fox News Channel has actually been fairer to her presidential campaign than liberal MSNBC" (NewsMax).

I'm not sure whether this speaks to fairness at FoxNews, or some of the radical lunacy at MSNBC.

Another sex workers art show

Another prestigeous university, Willilam and Mary has a sex workers art show:
Last year, Gene Nichol, president of the College of William & Mary,
said he wanted to make the school's chapel more welcoming to non-Christians, so
he removed the cross and stored it in a closet. The cross was returned after a
strong public outcry. Recently, President Nichol allowed a censored version of
what is known as the "Sex Workers' Art Show." That show featured monologues and
performances by strippers, homosexual prostitutes, and other sex workers. Nichol
said free-speech issues trumped any objections to the show. This marks the third
year the show has been held at the school (OneNewsNow).

Parents, this is what you get for your donations and hard earned tuition at some schools. In this case, though, the president of William and Mary has just resigned after being notified that his contract would not be renewed. We can only hope that the trustees of Duke and Yale take notice.

Obama and Che Guevara

From LGF: "Barack Obama won’t wear an American flag on his lapel, but on the wall of his Houston campaign office: a Cuban flag with a picture of Communist mass murderer Che Guevara."

The Obama campaign called the Che Guevara flags "inappropriate."

Inappropriate? No! A picture of Hillary Clinton with a moustache would be inappropriate. Pictures supporting Che Guevara are not much better than pictures supporting Adolf Hitler!

A Common Word for Muslims and Christians

Several months ago, some Muslims issued a document called "A Common word between you and us." Recliner Commentaries expressed serious concern over the wording of this document and concluded
"So, Christians, all you have to do in order to sign this “Common Word” is to
deny one of the fundamentals of the Christian faith—the deity of Jesus and the
Triune nature of God. Of course, it is hard to understand how those who deny
this can call themselves Christians at all."
I have been appalled by the number of prominent Christian leaders who have signed this document! Fortunately, the Wheaton College leadership has seen the light and have retracted their support (Christian Today).

Sex Show at Duke

Apparently Yale is not the only Ivy League University promoting the degredation of women. Duke University recently put on a Sex Workers Art Show.
Duke has an explicit policy prohibiting strippers on campus, which was
implemented as a result of the lacrosse affair. The fact that the administration
not only allowed but paid for (University Fund and Cultural Fund) this affair on
practically the two-year anniversary of the Lacrosse Affair in which they and
the Women's Center and Women's Studies (all contributors to the event) skewered
the lacrosse team for hiring strippers, is especially extraordinary. Shockingly,
this show was far more inappropriate than the lacrosse party. The University
Fund is comprised of contributions from the President's Office, Provost's
Office, and Student Affairs (ChristianNewsWire).

I think parents and donors of these universities should began a mass revolt, transferring their kids and money to other universities! I won't hold my breath though.

Hyphenated Americans

Have you ever stopped to think about how racist hyphenated-American titles are? We call people (or they call themselves) “African-American,” “Asian American,” or “Hispanic-American” for no other reason than the fact that they don’t “look” like they are of white European descent.

My family came here from Norway in the late 1800’s yet no one has ever called me a Norwegian-American or European-American. I’m an American. But the families of many Asian, African and Hispanic Americans have lived in America long before the late 1800’s. If ancestry carried any weight, many of these folks have much more claim to the name "American" than I do since their families have lived here longer!

Yet we continue to call people “African-Americans,” “Asian-Americans” or “Hispanic Americans” as if they were only part American, or maybe not quite as fully American as us white European Americans. We persist in using discriminatory hyphenated titles for many Americans simply because they do not look like they are of white Europeans descent. Isn’t that racist?

Sex week at Yale

When I think of prestigious Ivy League schools I generally think of scholarship and research on such things as Cancer or AIDS. Imagine my surprise to discover that this week is "Sex Week" at Yale! (Michelle Malkin). The schedule includes sessions all week on topics like:

*The female orgasm

*Everything you’ve always wanted to know about sex (and sex toys)

*Seduction: How to get the girl you’ve always wanted

*The business of pornography; how Vivid (a porn company) made it mainstream

*Also includes a panel discussion with a porn company’s superstars (complete with a screening!)

This raises several questions: Wasn't the women's rights movement concerned in part about how women were portrayed as sex objects or pieces of meat? Didn't the Surgeon General of the United States once publish an extensive study demonstrating a link between hard-core pornography and violent crimes against women? Why isn't the National Organization for Women, therefore, protesting this travesty! Why do tax payers have to fund a university that promotes an industry that increases the incidences of STD's and violence against women? Why do parents continue to send their kids and hard earned money to such a place?

Huckabee challenging Washington

Something may be fishy in Washington State and it is not just the Seattle Fish Market. The GOP chairman apparently announced that John McCain had won when there was only 200 points difference between McCain and Huckabee. That undoubtedly affected the outcome of a very tight race (Michelle Malkin).

Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright

John Perazzo has written an excellent article on Barack Obama’s spiritual mentor in FrontPage. It is truly terrifying that so many people are being sucked in by Obama’s magnetic personality and powerful (though empty) rhetoric. Please read the entire article when you have a chance but in the mean time, a few excerpts appear below:

…there is one man who threatens to undermine Obama's appealing narrative as a
man above the ugly quarrels and divisive partisanship of the past: his longtime
pastor and spiritual adviser, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Because he has been a revered figure in the life of presidential aspirant Barack Obama for two decades, Wright's political views, which he commonly draws from the tenets of liberation theology, are worthy of some scrutinyWright detects what he views as racism in virtually every facet of American life….

Notwithstanding Wright's implication that the harsh anti-crack penalties were instituted by racist legislators for the purpose of incarcerating as many blacks as possible, the Congressional Record shows that…In 1986, when the strict, federal anti-crack legislation was being debated, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC)—deeply concerned about the degree to which crack was decimating the black community—strongly supported the legislation and actually pressed for even harsher penalties. Remarkably, no mention of jihad…managed to find its way into Wright's analysis.

Rather, he assured us that the 9/11 atrocities were ultimately traceable to the doorstep of U.S. provocations.

Apart from America's purported racism, Wright also despises the nation's capitalist economic structure, viewing it as a breeding ground for all manner of injustice.

This view is entirely consistent with Rev. Wright's devotion to the tenets of liberation theology, which is essentially Marxism dressed up as Christianity….An extension of this paradigm is black liberation theology, which seeks to foment a similar Marxist revolutionary fervor founded on racial rather than class solidarity. Many of Wright's condemnations of America are echoed in his denunciations of Israel and Zionism, which he has blamed for imposing "injustice and … racism" on the Palestinians.

…he reserves some of his deepest respect for the virulently anti-American, anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. Wright's paean to Farrakhan was parroted in the November/December issue of TUCC's bimonthly magazine, the Trumpet…"Because of the Minister's influence in the African American community," the Trumpet announced that it was honoring him with an "Empowerment Award" as a "fitting tribute for a storied life well lived."This seems an odd distinction to confer
upon someone whose anti-American, anti-white, anti-Semitic statements are
numerous. For example, in 1996 Farrakhan told a Tehran newspaper that God would "bestow upon Muslims" the honor of "destroy[ing] America."

On a 1984 trip to meet with the Libyan dictator (and America's arch enemy) Muammar Qadhafi, Farrakhan was accompanied by none other than Jeremiah A. Wright.American voters ought to have more than a passing interest in the fact that when Barack Obama formally joined TUCC in 1991, he tacitly accepted this same
Jeremiah Wright as a spiritual mentor.

Arrest in Saudi Arabia

Wise people learn from their mistakes. Wiser people learn from the mistakes of others. Here's one woman who didn't "get it" until she was arrested, strip searched and threatened. One can only hope other liberals will finally understand too.

Questions for Clinton and Obama

On Townhall, Larry Elder has some outstanding questions for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. For example,
Sen. Obama, the church you attend, according to its Web site, pursues an
Afrocentric agenda. Your church rejects, as part of their "Black Value System,"
"middleclassness" as "classic methodology" of white "captors" to "control
subjugated" black "captives." Your pastor, Jeremiah Wright, recently called the
Nation of Islam's Minister Louis Farrakhan -- a man many consider anti-Semitic
-- a person of "integrity and honesty." What would happen to a Republican
candidate who attended a Caucasian-centric church, and who praised David Duke as
a man of "integrity and honesty"?
Please read the rest on Townhall.

“America is still racist”

In “Obama proves America is still racist”, Ben Shapiro writes:
So before Americans punch the ballot for Obama and pat themselves on the back
for their racial awareness, let's get one thing straight: It's the soft bigotry
of low expectations that's lifting Obama to unprecedented heights. If voters
looked realistically at Obama, unblinded by the desperate desire to elect a
nonmilitant African-American to the presidency, they'd scoff. And they'd have
every right to do so. Obama is utterly unqualified to be president of the United
States. If we elect him to the White House based on the misguided desire to feel
good about our own broadmindedness -- if we ignore his emptiness in favor of his
melanin – we deserve what we get.

Shapiro hits the nail on the head. Read his entire article at Townhall.

Restrooms and cross-dressing

A foretaste of things to come:
A "trial run" has been launched for a new law in a Maryland county that arguably would allow coed locker rooms in public accommodations, and women aren't pleased with the results.

It happened this week when a man, wearing a skirt and makeup, walked into a women's locker room at a health club.

"I could see his muscles, I could see his large hands. He was wearing a blue
ruffled skirt that came down to above the knee," Mary Ann Andree told
WJLA-Television after the incident at the Rio Sport and Health Club in
Gaithersburg.

It was about 1 p.m., when Andree was drying her hair, that the man, who was identified by the health club only as a member, entered, an action that critics of the new county ordinance say would be legal when the law takes effect in February.

"I was very upset, I'm still upset," Andree told the station. "There's a lot he could've seen."
He didn’t have to use the woman’s room. He was free to use the club’s unisex restroom. Read the rest at WorldNetDaily.

Nancy Pelosi and waterboarding

The Left is frothing at the mouth again over the latest revelations on waterboarding by CIA chief, Michael Hayden. The Left conveniently (and deliberately) forgets that the CIA had given both Democratic and Republican Congresspersons, including Nancy Pelosi, private briefings on their torture techniques. Not only did the members of Congress not complain, two of them even pressed the CIA to do more. See LGF for the story.

ACLU defends Christians

"The ACLU likes saying it defends Christians but when you analyze the number of cases on its websites where they came to the rescue of Christians, the numbers come to about 40 over the last 15-20 years. Considering that the ACLU, according to some of its web pages, files 6000 lawsuits a year, the percentage of such defenses amount to being thrown an occasional bone to adherents of the Judeo-Christian faith" (Stop the ACLU).

Tolerance, Leftist style

Some time ago, one of my frequent readers left a comment on the tolerance of the Left. I think he hit the nail on the head when he wrote:
I do find it amusing though how leftists will go through back flips to prove how
open minded they are when they're some of the most judgmental and least
accepting people that I know of. If you don’t agree with their opinions on
immigration or affirmative action, you’re a racist. Don’t agree with same sex
marriage, you’re homophobe. If you don’t agree with sexual promiscuity you’re a
puritanical religious nut. If you believe in personal protection and the second
amendment, you’re a hillbilly gun nut. If you’re a conservative, you can’t
possibly be as smart as a liberal (or as open to new ideas or concepts). If one
doesn’t agree with government aid for everything under the sun, you’re
insensitive and want people living in the streets. If you don’t agree with
abortion, you want control of a woman’s uterus” (Written by “Robert”)

Many Muslim women fear….

"I have talked to loads of Muslim women...the greatest fear they have is not Islamophobia or being attacked by racists or being arrested on suspicion of terrorism. It is from within their own family”

Please read the entire article on Jihad Watch.

J.C. Watts for Vice President

Now that McCain has the Republican nomination for President all but sewn up its time to start thinking about a Vice President. I want J.C. Watts for Vice President.

Watts is a former congressman, an ordained minister and committed Christian, a regular contributer to CNN's "Situation Room" and author of the book, What color is a Conservative? He is also, "chairman of J.C. Watts Companies, which provide services in communication, business and public affairs, and his co-chairmanship of the Coalition for AIDS Relief in Africa reflects his concern for global issues such as poverty and health" (Washington Speakers Bureau).

Watts would be a great conservative counterbalance to McCain's leftward leanings. Also, 4-8 years as Vice President would be good experience to pave the way for President Watts in 2012 or 2016.

If you agree with me, please contact John McCain and/or conservative talk show hosts like Michael Medved, Laura Ingrahm, Hugh Hewitt, and others to start a "draft J.C. Watts for Vice President" movement.

Tornado at Union University

At least 57 tornados touched down in the south last night. The death toll so far is more than 30.

Union University in Jackson Tennessee was hit. The damage is extensive. Two dorms were completely destroyed. Several students were seriously injured and taken to the hospital but reports are that they will be OK. About 1,800 students are basically homeless. They slept in local churches and homes.

They could use our prayers.

The "Thinking Christianly" blog has a picture of the dorm damage. See also the Jackson Sun

UPDATE: Fox News just interviewed a couple of Union U. Students. One of actually saw the tornado which he described as a little larger than a medium sized tornado. He was in class when it hit.

UPDATE2: According to an e-mail I just received, out of 1,200 cars on campus, fewer than 100 escaped damage.

UPDATE3: There is now an official emergency web site for Union University.

Super Tuesday results

The following, from Politico.com, is the projected delegate count after "Super Tuesday":

(2,025 needed to win).

Pundits are counting the number of states each candidate won, but as Carl Rove said this morning, "Deligates vote, states don't."

Americans United threatening churches

Another e-mail from the American Family Association:

The Rev. Barry Lynn, the executive director of Americans United for Separation
of Church and State, has asked that the Internal Revenue Service investigate the
American Family Association. Lynn says that AFA has violated IRS rules by
distributing a voters guide.

For years, Rev. Lynn and his Americans United, along with groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union and People for the American Way, have used threats to silence Christians in an attempt to take away their First Amendment rights. The tragedy is that he has been successful in silencing thousands of ministers.

Let me make one thing clear to Rev. Lynn and his cohorts. We have no intention of bowing down to his threatening demands. Rev. Lynn is mistaken if he thinks his threat will scare this minister from exercising his First Amendment rights.

Lynn has also included a threat to churches. Trying to scare ministers from exercising their rights, Lynn said: "Any church that distributes these biased guides is risking its tax exemption and casting aside its integrity."

The AFA Voters Guide was developed by three constitutional lawyers and reviewed by three more constitutional lawyers following Rev. Lynn's threat. All agreed that the voters guide is perfectly legal.

The Alliance Defense Fund has offered to represent (free of charge) churches or organizations which distribute the voter's guide and encounter opposition from either Lynn or the IRS.

Take Action!

Show Rev. Lynn that his threats don't scare you by printing and distributing the AFA Voter's Guide.
http://www.afa.net/pdfs/08vg.pdf
Click on the link above and find out what is so scandalously illegal that Lynn would contact the IRS and threaten to sue churches over. Then print and pass them out to your friends.

American Religious History Week

E-mail from the American Family Association:

Americans United for Separation of Church and State has begun a campaign to
defeat a resolution proclaiming the first week in May as "American Religious
History Week." Remember, this is a non-binding resolution, not a bill before
Congress. Representative Randy Forbes of Virginia has introduced a resolution
proclaiming the first week in May as "American Religious History Week." The
resolution, H. Res. 888, declares its two-fold purpose: "Affirming the rich
spiritual and religious history of our Nation's founding and subsequent history
and expressing support for designation of the first week in May as 'American
Religious History Week' for the appreciation of and education on American's
history of religious faith."

Please contact your U.S. representative and urge him or her to co-sponsor H. Res. 888. Americans United and other liberal groups are trying with all they have to get this resolution killed. Don't let them. Take a stand! Take Action Click here to send the e-mail to your representative.
http://capwiz.com/afanet/issues/alert/?alertid=10912441&type=CO

Why would anyone want to defeat an inter-faith, non-denominational, non-binding resolution affirming the factual, religious history of America--unless for some ideological reasons they just wanted the next generation of Americans to be ignorant about America's religious history.

I could be wrong but I think the Nazi's tried to re-write history whent they came to power in Germany and the Communists tried to re-write history when they came to power in the Soviet Union.

Condoms for fourth graders!

According to WorldNewDaily: "A campaign has been launched by concerned parents and others in Florida where a school board has adopted an explicit sex ed curriculum that includes various how-to lessons for students as young as fourth grade, and in one incarnation proposed field trips for children to purchase condoms and then talk about their experience."

This is not the only case of public school irresponsiblity in sex education (for example, here and here, and here, and here, and here).

My parent's generation was hesitant to talk about sex, so sex education may have been needed back then. For better or for worse, those times are long, long gone. I think the time has come for state governments to take sex education out of of the public schools completely and place the responsibility back on the parents where it belongs.

Qur'an 14

Robert Spencer's commentary on the Qur'an, Sura 14 is now avilable on Hot Air.

Hillary health care

"Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans" (AP).

In other words, if you have to choose between feeding your family, buying gas to get to work, heating your home--or buying health insurance, Hillary's government won't let you make that choice. You'll either buy her health insurance or the government will take even more of your money from you! How you pay for food, heat or gas is your problem.

This kind of nanny govbenment sounds more and more like the former Soviet Union to me. Is this really the kind of government you want?

Retarded suicide bombers

Just when we thought that Muslim terrorists couldn't possibly get more disgustingly depraved and evil--dare we say, "satanic"--CBS News is now reporting that Jihadists are using mentally retarded women as suicide bombers!

The IRS, the Church and politics

My understanding may be inaccurate here, so I invite correction if I’m wrong. As I understand it, in the past, the IRS has threatened churches with removal of their tax exempt status if churches support particular candidates from the pulpit. Whether that is true or not, I know that many pastors are afraid of supporting particular candidates from the pulpit for just this reason.

If churches are in danger of loosing their tax exempt status for supporting a presidential candidate, why are so many churches allowing candidates--Obama, Clinton, Huckabee, etc.-- or their representatives (like Bill Clinton) to openly campaign from the pulpits of so many churches?

I think churches need to be very, very careful about endorsing a particular candidate or political party, but on the other hand, I think they also need to stop being so intimidated by the IRS and start preaching on the important political social issues of our day when those issues are directly addressed in the Bible.

I also think that unless a church is preaching violent overthrow of the government (I've never heard of a church doing that), the IRS needs to be prohibited by law from interfering in what is preached from the pulpit.

New England Patriots cheat?

An article in today’s Chicago Sun-Times alleges that the New England Patriots—who not all that long ago were “convicted of cheating, fined $750,000 and stripped of a first-round draft pick”—have been caught cheating, again!

A fine and a draft pick? Are you kidding me? If a player “throws” a game isn’t he in danger of going to jail? But if the coaching staff cheats to win games they get a slap on the wrist? The new allegations need to be investigated and if true, some people need to get fired or go to jail.

GO GIANTS!!!
