Fair and balanced?

The Media Research Center recently completed a study of the campaign coverage on ABC's Good Morning America, CBS's The Early Show, and NBC's Today.

The MRC found that the ABC, NBC and CBS morning programs are not only strongly biased against Republicans, at times they almost seem to be campaigning for Democrats!

The Left is always venting their anger at Fox News for being biased toward the Right. The interesting thing about this is that the ABC, NBC and CBS morning shows have nine times as many viewers as CNN, Fox News and MSNBC combined during the same time slots.

In fact, many on the Left want to regulate talk radio which is dominated by the right, but has only a tiny fraction of the audience that main stream media outlets have. The Democrats don't want fairness. They just want to censor the opposition, and that is the beginning of fascism.

When I mention Media Matters around here, I get scolded for citing a biased, liberal source. But apparently the Media Research Center can be trusted to not be biased....

I think you have a very valid point John. Both MM and MRC are run by partisan operatives and should be viewed in that light.

What I like about Media Matters is that they're unabashedly leftists. They don't try to hide behind "fair and balanced" or some corporate logo. They're Leftists pure and simple. When I read them, I get their take and their point of view. They take conservatives to task for their misdeeds and wrong doings. Sometimes it takes an outside entity to really evaluate you.

What I like about MRC is that it tries to scientifically show the bias in the national media. Don't just arbitrarily assume something, prove it. Don't just make a claim without any research to prove otherwise. MRC puts that as part of their mission statement.

That all being said, sometimes it's easy to shoot the messenger for what they're saying. I've been known to do that too. I guess it's just hard to separate fact from fiction today because EVERYONE is always spinning things. Facts seem to be in short supply today.
