In 2006 Democratic senators Dianne Feinstein, Patrick Leahy and John Kerry introduced a bill that would have provided a 16% increase in salary for federal judges. I rarely agree with these senators but when they're right, they're right. The new Supreme Court Chief Justice, John Roberts also recently made the case for increasing judicial salaries (CNN).
The the bill introduced by Feinstein, Leahy and Kerry didn't get anywhere in a Republican Congress. Maybe the Democrats will do better.

I don't know why this one didn't get passed... it seems to make sense. Of all the places we need people to be unbiased it's the judiciary.
The judiciary is biased. That much is obvious. I don't know why people keep on insisting they are not. The difference is, they're supposed to keep that in check...
