Sandy Berger and National Archives

Everyone knows that former President Clinton's National Security advisor, Sandy Berger, stole highly classified documents from the National Archives and later destroyed some of them (apparently to cover up details about the Clinton administrations war on terror, or lack thereof). A new report, just released by the National Archives Inspector General, provides details not previously released (New York Times).

But Mr. Berger denied he had ever stuffed documents in his socks, explaining the episode by saying that “his shoes frequently come untied and his socks frequently fall down.”

Sounds like the stuff of a mediocre sitcom. Maybe he's in the wrong line of work.

What's wrong with destroying a few confidential documents?
