British Airways and radiation

Tensions are understandably high in Britain in the wake of the spy who died of radiation poisoning due to exposure to Polonium 210. Two British Airlines planes have now tested positive for Polonium 210 and three more planes are suspected. British officials are looking for about 33,000 passengers who have flown on the two contaminated planes since October 25 to see if they have been contaminated by radiation. Twelve locations in Britain have also tested positive for radiation contamination, though so far everyone tested has tested negative (FoxNews).

More on the Imams

Last night Hannity and Colmes interviewed someone who was actually on the plane with the six Imam’s who were removed. She refuted the claim that the Imam’s were hauled off in handcuffs. She said she knows they were not handcuffed on the plane because one of the Imams reached up attempting to get his bags out of the overhead compartment near her seat and he did not have handcuffs on. She said that after the Imams had been removed (or as they were being removed) the entire group of passengers broke out in applause (Apparently virtually everyone on the plane was either Islamophobic—or thought they had serious reason for concern). This eyewitness was convinced that the Imams staged the whole event.

I now pronounce you NOT man and wife

According to a report published yesterday, a man and his wife who have been married for five years (and even had a child together), suddenly found themselves not married. The woman's brother filed a lawsuit on behalf of her father contending that she did not have his permission to get married in the first place. Apparently under Sharia law in the UAE where they live, women must have the permission of their fathers to get married. Since she did not have it, the Sharia court in Dubai pronounced them not man and wife (Dhimmi Watch, Khaleejtimes).

No word on whether she will now be beheaded or beaten for five years of immorality. Tell me again how Islam is a good thing for women?

Rape in Pakistan and Nigeria

Following Islamic law, Pakistan used to require four witnesses before a rapist could be convicted of his crime. This not only made it virtually impossible for a woman to get justice if she was raped, it also resulted in the punishment of the victim! If a woman accused a man of rape and she could not get four witnesses to testify, her accusation of rape was often treated as an admission of immorality for which she was then punished, and until very recently the punishment for sex outside of marriage was death.

Just recently the Pakistani Parliament changed the law to make convictions a little less impossible to achieve. While Pakistan is to be commended for the changes in their rape laws, women in Nigeria are not so fortunate. Amnesty International says that rape is “endemic’ among the security forces” in Nigeria. Amnesty is charging Nigerian police and soldiers with using rape to intimidate and extract confessions, and has documented cases of “soldiers raping women in front of their husbands and children”.

According to an article by the Associated Press, “In northern Nigeria, the introduction of Islamic Sharia law means that rape victims, or their families, can be punished for reporting the crime if they fail to provide sufficient evidence - including four male witnesses. According to the report, a mother and father received 80 lashes each after failing to prove their daughter had been raped by a village leader.”

Oh, did I mention the fact that thousands of Muslims (mostly men, no doubt) actually took to the streets in Pakistan to protest the fact that they can no longer rape women and get away with it quite so easily (Jerusalem Post)? Maybe someone can explain to me why, according to some Muslims, Islam is supposed to be a good thing for women.

The voice of a moderate Muslim

Recently Jamal Miftah, an American Muslim, wrote an article on Jihadists that appeared in TulsaWorld. The following are excerpts:

“Cowards like al-Zawahri and bin Laden are inciting the ignorant and innocent youths to commit suicide bombings to kill innocent civilians including children, women and the elderly, while they hide in spider holes and caves. They never send their own sons and daughters, born out of half a dozen of their wives, to get killed in the name of Islam. They are themselves hypo crites, cowards, thugs and liars. For 12 years they misappropriated aid received from the U.S. and the West to fight Russia. Now they are ensuring smooth flow of petro dollars from Arab countries in the name of jihad against the West.”

“Even mosques and Islamic institutions in the U.S. and around the world have become tools in their hands and are used for collecting funds for their criminal acts. Half of the funds collected go into the pockets of their local agents and the rest are sent to these thugs.”

“I appeal to the Muslim clerics around the world that, rather than issuing empty fatwas condemning suicide bombing, they should issue a fatwa for the death of such scoundrels and barbarians who have taken more than 4,267 lives of innocent people in the name of Islam and have carried out more than 24 terrorist attacks on civilian installations throughout the world.”

It is so refreshing to hear the voice of a moderate Muslim. Oh, did I mention that the leaders of his Mosque in Tulsa Oklahoma kicked him out until he apologizes and some other members have threatened him with violence! (LGF).

I am beginning to fear that the truly moderate Muslims, like Jamal Miftah, are either a minority or are so intimidated by the rest (even in America) that they are afraid to speak out. Either way, I hope the FBI is seriously investigating Islam in America.

Muslim Imams and U.S. Air

The Muslim Imams turned away from a U.S. Airways flight continue to stir up trouble (Jerusalem Post). I’m beginning to wonder if the whole thing was staged precisely for that purpose. Wesley Prudens has an insightful article about the incident. Excerpts appear below but you can read the entire article in the Washington Post:

"Our holy men of good will, ranging from earnest Pentecostal preachers to beribboned high-church Episcopal prelates, seek out their Muslim counterparts for "interfaith dialogue." Some even travel to the Middle East to "dialogue" on the dark and bloody ground whence comes most of the terror in the world."

"Our own holy men could respect their Muslim brothers, as well as their own countries, by showing tough love instead of platitudes…"

"The incident aboard a jetliner of US Airways the other day in Minneapolis is instructive. The details are in some dispute, but what is not is that six imams -- Muslim holy men -- were denied boarding after they created an incident and were briefly detained."

"When an airline clerk denied him boarding one imam shouted: "This prejudice. This is obvious discrimination. No one can argue with this."

"But arguing with 'this' is exactly what we must do if we bring the Muslims under the fraternal umbrella -- of what, in better times than these, was called 'the melting pot.' The imams should be told, forcefully, that making an intimidating row of rituals is not the American way and won't be permitted. If a half-dozen Catholic priests insist on conducting a Mass aboard an airliner, they will be told to stop it. Six Baptist preachers won't be allowed to conduct a revival meeting amidst either the cheap or expensive seats. Jewish mohels can't perform circumcisions aboard (even for volunteers). We don't do things like that in America, and no apology is forthcoming. We're an immigrant nation, a source of national strength and pride. But some among us want to turn e pluribus unum -- 'out of many, one' -- inside out. We can't tolerate that, and it's time to say so, loud and clear."
(hat tip: Dhimmi Watch)

Appeasement in Israel

Earlier today Israeli Prime Appeaser—er, Minister Olmert offered to release large numbers of Palestinian prisoners, to ease travel restrictions, to free up frozen funds, and even to give up more occupied land in exchange for a halt in Palestinian violence against Israel. This would be a noble gesture if Olmert was dealing with reasonable people. He’s not. The immediate response was that the Palestinians fired more rockets at innocent Jews in the Israeli town of Sderot—in spite of the fact that there is supposed to be a cease-fire in effect!

When will the West get it? The Palestinians, Syrians, and Iranians do not want peace with Israel. They want nothing less than the destruction of Israel. They've said so. Why won't we believe them? If appeasers in the West have their way they will give up more and more and more until one day they find out that there is nothing left to give but our freedom—and we still won’t have peace.

Imam's ties to terrorism

According to Michelle Malkin, one of the Imams detained in Minneapolis for suspicions behavior (see Recliner Commentaries, Nov. 20, 21) is staging a protest today. Ms Malkin urges us to watch the mainstream media's coverage of this event carefully. She rightfully asks:

"Will they mention Shahin's admitted ties to Osama bin Laden and denial of the 9/11 al Qaeda plot?"

"Or his connection to a Hamas-linked terror charity front?"

"Will they mention Mahdi Bray's terror-sympathizing statements and stances?"

"Or the Muslim American Society's radical embrace of sharia and faux pose as the "moderate" front for the Muslim Brotherhood? (My debate on Laura Ingraham's radio show with one of the double-talking MAS spokesmen here.)"

"Or will they mindlessly play along with the grievance-mongers, lazily echoing the cries of "Islamophobia" and joining in self-flagellation?"

Schools closed in Thailand

According to a report by CNN (hat tip: LGF), over 300 schools in Thailand will shut their doors due to attacks by Muslim insurgents. Teachers and schools are now being attacked, almost on a daily basis. The problem can’t be the Buddhist government because, as Recliner Commentaries reported in September, the Buddhist government was overthrown in a coup by Muslims.

A Danish newspaper publishes some cartoons, and hundreds of thousands of Muslims all over the world start protesting and rioting. The Pope quotes from a medieval writer and again, hundreds of thousands of Muslims take to the streets. The Pope is trying to mend fences with a trip to Turkey and over 25,000 Muslim protesters have taken to the streets.

On the other hand, when Muslim extremists kill teachers, burn schools and deprive 100,000 kids of their education, the streets are quiet. While there are a few lone Muslim voices of protest (I applaud their courage), the vast majority of “moderate Muslims” remain deafeningly silent in the face of atrocities committed in the name of Islam. We are constantly told that the radicals are only a tiny fringe in Islam, so where are the moderate Muslims?

Obsession: The Threat of Radical Islam

If you did not see, Obsession: the Threat of Radical Islam the first time it aired, PLEASE take time to watch it tonight. It is on the FOX News Channel (9:00PM EST/8:00 CST). Every American really needs to see this program.

Islam: Propaganda and reality

The Revuse website is posting a facinating comparison between what a Muslim propaganda website puts out for public consumption, and what Muslims actually teach each other and do. It is very enlightening. If you don’t have time to read the whole thing, at least read the conclusion.(hat tip to Jihad Watch which is quite possibly one of the best blogs on the internet).

Sharia law in practice

According to a recent article by Associated Press, the Saudi Arabian version of Sharia law apparently gives judges “complete discretion to set sentences, except in cases where Sharia outlines a punishment, such as capital crimes.” A rapist, for example, could receive anything from no sentence at all to death depending on the whim of the judge.

The article describes the case of some men who gang raped a woman and received 1 to 4 years in prison plus 80 to 1000 lashes (The lashes are usually administered 50 at a time over a period of days—The word “torture” comes to mind). But then, in a ruling that defies explanation, the 19 year old female victim of the rape was sentenced to receive 90 lashes just for being in a car with a male friend when the rapists attacked them. In another case a judge sentenced men to 300 lashes and 1 to 2 years in prison for raping a 12 year old boy.

Saudi Arabia, of course, is not the only Muslim country to administer such harsh punishments (and in some cases, the interrogation process may be worse than the sentence!). I must admit that 1000 lashes for rapists or child molesters sounds like an entirely appropriate penalty, but it seems a bit hypocritical for Muslim countries to condemn the United States for our treatment of terrorists at Guantanamo Bay, when some of these Muslim countries treat their own citizens so much worse by comparison.

A few things I thank God for:

I have a wife and children whom I love and adore
I have a home that keeps me warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
I have a comfortable bed that, in times past, some kings would have died for
I have a recliner that, in times past, some kings would have killed for
I have a church family with whom I worship and find friendship and fellowship
I have a job that I love with colleagues whom I respect and count as friends
I live in a country that allows freedom of religion, speech and press.
I open my eyes every single morning and can see
I wake up every morning without pain
I never go to bed hungry
I have been enabled by God's grace to help some who are less fortunate
I find amazing grace and forgiveness in my Lord Jesus Christ

What are you thankful for?

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Beheading and forgiveness

Just over a year ago Recliner Commentaries reported on the beheading of three Christian girls by Muslim militants in Indonesia. Now, in a surprising turn of events, one of the militants has asked forgiveness from the victim’s families (Christian Today, Nov.17).

What followed was even more amazing. There was a meeting between the militants and the parents of the victims. During that meeting the militants expressed repentance and deep sorrow—and then, in an almost supernatural act of Christian charity, the Christian parents forgave the militants for beheading their children! (Christian Today, Nov. 21).

Imagine the impact if this became a pattern of Christian/Muslim relations in Indonesia! We probably shouldn’t hold our breath but we can always dream.

Who cares about Sderot?

According to WorldNetDaily, Hamas announced yesterday that “The only way to stop the regular rocket fire on Sderot, an Israeli city of about 20,000 nearly three miles from the Gaza Strip border, is for the Jewish state to evacuate the entire city”. According to reports from Ynetnews and the Jerusalem Post, Hamas is apparently quite serious.

My question is: Why haven’t we heard from the United Nations? Hamas has been shelling Israel constantly for months (years?) so where is the international condemnation of Hamas? Why is it that terrorists can blow the guts out of innocent Jewish men, women and children and the world community remain silent, but if Israel responds the U.N. and the world become outraged?

Is ICE FUBAR?

The military loves acronyms. When I was in the Air Force one common acronym was FUBAR (Fouled up beyond all recognition--except that Air Force people used another word instead of "fouled" and this is a family blog :-)

According to an article in PhonenixNewTimes FUBAR sounds like a good acronym for ICE (the Imigration and Customs Enforcement bureau). The article is long but amazingly eye-0pening!

(I learned of this article from DebbieSchlussel.Com where you can find her brief analysis).

Imam's tie to terrorism

Omar Shahin, one of the Muslim Imam’s removed from the plane in Minneapolis, was furious about his treatment, “I never felt bad in my life like that. I never. Six imams. Six leaders in this country. Six scholars in handcuffs. It’s terrible.”

As it turns out, Imam Shahin is a representative for the Kind Hearts Organization—an organization which, according to the Treasury Department, attempts to “mask their support for terrorism behind the façade of charitable giving.” (See Jihad Watch).

Imams removed from U.S. Air

This morning the news reported that the six Muslims removed from the U.S. Airways plane last night were Imam's attending an Imam's conference in Minneapolis. As they boarded the plane they were reportedly speaking in Arabic and repeating Allah, Allah. Officials concluded that they were simply reciting their required evening prayers. They were apparently not amused by the extra scrutiny.

I sympathize with them. They have a constitutional guarantee to freedom of religion. I would probably be upset too if I was singled out for scrutiny. Oh, but wait—I have been singled out for scrutiny and I'm not even Muslim or Arab!

Once I was randomly pulled out of line, asked to take off my shoes, and “wanded” (again) just before boarding. On another occasion I was pulled out of a long line in what did not appear to be a random check—it was probably because I was fidgety (I have ADHD) and was sweating profusely (minor heart problem). My bags were opened and searched in full view of the public.

On yet another occasion officials actually came on the plane looking for a specific seat number—it turned out to be my seat! (my wife had to bring me to the airport four or five hours before my flight was scheduled to leave and officials were apparently concerned about the fact that I had checked in so early).

While I’ve never been pulled off a flight for interrogation, those of us who are Christian or of Norwegian descent are not blowing people up or flying airplanes into buildings either. The fact is that all of us who fly are being inconvenienced these days because of the jihadists.

These Muslim Imam’s now have a perfect opportunity. They could probably get themselves booked on any TV talk show they want—anything from Oprah to O’Reiley. They could explain about how they are moderate Muslims who love America and then they could vent their anger at the real cause for their removal from the airline—the jihadists who kill innocent people in the name of Islam!

Or, the Muslim Imams’ could take another route. They could publicly complain about how terribly they were treated and how humiliated they felt. They could have CAIR file a complaint with the authorities, and maybe even explore legal options, etc, etc. In other words, rather than taking the opportunity to publicly demonstrate that they stand with us in our fight against jihadists, these Imams could rant and rave against the system that is trying to keep us safe and make us look like the bad guys. Unfortunately, so far this is the route they have chosen to go.

I don’t like having to stand in long lines to get on a plane or to go into a public building and I certainly don’t like being singled out and pulled out of line so my bags can be publicly searched, but the problem is not with the TSA or the FBI or airport security. The problem is that there are thousands and thousands of people who want to kill us in the name of Islam!

Excuse me, but I can’t help wondering whether those, like the Imams, who can’t seem to understand this are operating on agendas different from other Americans who are just trying to save our lives.

Breaking: U.S. Airways arrest

In Minneapolis tonight just before takeoff, six men of middle eastern descent were pulled off a U.S. Airways plane because of their suspicious behavior. They are currently being interrogated by police.

Pearl Harbor

Yesterday I watched a 2005 TV documentary consisting of testimony by veterans who survived the attack on Pear Harbor. Many described the events as if they were talking about something that happened yesterday. While it is certainly possible that their memories had grown dim regarding chronological matters or various other details, there is no real reason to deny that they were providing an essentially accurate glimpse into what actually happened at Pearl Harbor.

These veterans were describing events that occurred roughly 65 years earlier. It occurred to me that the last biblical Gospel to be written, the Gospel of John, was also describing events that occurred roughly 65 years earlier. The earliest Gospel (probably Mark) was written decades earlier.

Yet, while there is little doubt that the testimony of these veterans is essentially accurate, many biblical critics insist that the four biblical Gospels are hopelessly inaccurate since they were written so long after the time of Jesus. Biblical critics, of course, imagine other reasons for considering the gospels to be unreliable, but the fact that they were written between 20 and 70 years after the time of Jesus should not be among them.

More on global warming

On November 7 Recliner Commentaries posted excerpts and a link to an article debunking the theory of Global warming. Kevin just sent me a link to another article debunking that article.

Meanwhile, during the conference I atteneded in Washington DC, one presenter argued persuasively that while few scientists deny the phenomena of Global warming, they disagree over the cause. But even if the cause was carbon emissions the cost to curtail it would start at about a trillion dollars per year during the first stage, and increase rapidly during the next 20-30 stages--and all that money would still not make enough difference to prevent the kind of catastrophies about which Al Gore speaks.

Meanwhile, the trillons of dollars spent on preventing global warming could be used to save the lives of hundreds-of-thousands of people who die due to lack of simple necessities like food, clean water or basic medical care.

So the debate goes on.

Imam ordered the destruction

The following is from an e-mail I just received from Christian Aid Mission:

"During the night of November 4, Islamic extremists from a nearby mosque ransacked the center of discipleship of Christ Power Ministries (shown right), an indigenous ministry located in the Islamic city of Porto Novo, Benin."

"The native missionaries living at the center were able to escape with their possessions without harm. However, chairs, tables, doors, desks and other materials were destroyed.
Police investigations revealed that the imam of a nearby mosque ordered the destruction of the center."

"The Muslim landlord, who rented the facility to the believers because of their kindness to her, was also verbally attacked and threatened by the Islamic community for allowing Christians on her premises."

Nuclear materials and cyanide

"A man was arrested at Detroit Metropolitan Airport after officials say they found him carrying more than $78,000 in cash and a laptop computer containing information about nuclear materials and cyanide."

The rest of the story can be found at AP.

Cut off funding for Iraq

Congressman Dennis Kucinich is now calling on Congress to cut off the funding for the war in Iraq (LGF, Dennis Kucinich). If he gets his way, no nation on earth should ever trust the U.S. for military help ever again--We'll be there just long enough to really infuriate your enemy, and then we'll pull out to leave your citizens to be slaughtered!

Considering the fact that Congress approved the use of military force against Iraq, Kucinich's proposal is truly disgraceful!

Tolerance, hate speech and censorship

The following are excerpts from an article by Dr. Stefan Braun entitled, "Is Canada Still Tolerant and Fair." America would do well to pay close attention (Hat tip to Professor Ed who brought this to my attention via the Heretical Librarian Blog.

"Canada is widely regarded as a model multicultural society; tolerant, peaceful, fair. To be sure, we have our share of bigots, racists and malcontents. But we are a progressive society."

"Progressive societies resolve their internal differences peacefully, and respectfully. And if some should confuse intolerance for truth or mistake might for right? Well, unlike the US, we also have criminal hate censorship laws, as well as assorted human rights, equity, and hate speech codes to set them right. But before anyone thinks of emulating the "true north strong and free," they better have a close look at what is happening on progressive Canadian campuses."

"To be sure, hate censorship laws and campus speech codes seemed like a good idea, back when they were first enacted. For awhile, it seemed to serve Jews well. What right thinking Canadian official would hesitate to muzzle militant neo-Nazis, sexists, homophobes, and xenophobes; or tolerate their indecent attempts to squelch the voices of their victims? Hadn't extremists done enough damage to societies everywhere?"

"So why, once again, do thoughtful Jewish students have to fear to speak when those whose hate knows no bounds do not fear to speak against them? Hate censorship laws and the speech codes haven't changed. But times have. The political climate has changed. Faces of oppression have changed. And so, too, have the discourses of campus hate censorship. There is now a new, more popular, more belligerent, minority in town; a new victim; the victim of occupation. Forget how this occupation came to be, or the complex truths of why it persists to this day. David is now Goliath, and Goliath is David, at least in the minds of those now favored to speak. Zionism, we are told is racism. A Palestinian Holocaust is unfolding. Jewish leaders are genocidal Nazis. Israel is an Apartheid state, not a legitimate repository of the historic Jewish identity. To merely identify with it, much less advocate for it, is to stand accused of the worst kind of criminal racism in the docket of hate. Jewish voices be warned; guilt by association will not be tolerated."

"And so, Benjamin Netanyahu and Daniel Pipes cannot equally freely, or fearlessly, speak at any progressive, multicultural, Canadian campus. No pro-Zionist can. But just about every self-serving anti-Zionist demagogue and Israel-demonizing progressive ideologue can. Hate is whatever those with the power to disrupt, destroy, and silence, say it is. And so, only the Jewish voice is a campus security concern. Hate censorship has been hijacked. A shelter against illegitimate promotion of hate has been turned into a sword against legitimate exercise of Jewish voice."

"How could it be otherwise? Censorship is force not talk. It is not about demonstration of right, but an exercise in might. Might is a double edged sword. In the end, the sharper edge, as is the nature of might, belongs to the more belligerent, or the more popular, not the more tolerant or the more civil."

Nancy Pelosi and John Murtha

I'm at a conference in Washington DC this week so my posts may be sporadic. In the mean time Nancy Pelosi has announced that this new Congress will be the most ethical in history. With that in mind, check out an enlightening article about John Murtha, whom Nancy Pelosi is supporting, in OpinionJournal.Com. Even if I were a Democrate, I'm not sure Mr. Murtha would be my first choice as an ethical leader.

Tax exempt status

CNSNews.com) - "A group that opposes interaction between religion and government has accused four churches of violating restrictions on electioneering leading up to last week's midterm elections and asked the Internal Revenue Service to investigate."

It would seem that if this group were really concerned about the interaction between religion and government, they would be very concerned about the IRS interfering in churches. After all, which is a more blatant violation of the separation of church and state, a pastor who expresses a political preference from the pulpit, or a government that threatens churches for exercising their constitutional protection of freedom of speech? The agenda of this group is not really about the separation of church and state, but the removal of church influence from the public square.

But since these "restrictions apply to all tax-exempt non-profit groups, not just to churches" let’s ask the IRS investigate state colleges and universities too. My guess is that for every pastor who violated IRS election restrictions there were ten or more state university professors who did the same.

Cut and run

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - "Democrats, who won control of the U.S. Congress, said on Sunday they will push for a phased withdrawal of American troops from Iraq to begin in four to six months, but the White House cautioned against fixing timetables."

"First order of business is to change the direction of Iraq policy," said Sen. Carl Levin, a Michigan Democrat who is expected to be chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee in the new Congress."

"Democrats will press President George W. Bush's administration to tell the Iraqi government that U.S. presence was "not open-ended, and that, as a matter of fact, we need to begin a phased redeployment of forces from Iraq in four to six months," Levin said on ABC's "This Week" program."

I’m not necessarily opposed to a phased “redeployment.” My question is this: What happens if our “re-deployment” starts leading to a slaughter that makes the current body count look small by comparison? Will our new Democratic Congress commit to moving back in to stop the carnage?"

I’ve never understood why the U.S. had to take over Iraq rather than just destroying their military (and what we thought were their WMD sites). But now that we are in Iraq, to leave the Iraqi people to the mercy of insurgent terrorists—to leave them to the slaughter like we did to the Vietnamese and the Kurds—would be absolutely criminal!

Republican defeat, a victory for Iran

"TEHRAN, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the Republicans' defeat in U.S. midterm elections was a great victory for the Iranian people."

Khamenei gets it. Why don't American voters? I sincerely hope the Democratic party surprises us all, rises to the challenge, and proves Khamenei and al-Masri wrong.

Until they have blown up the White House

In a new audio tape from Al-Qaeda, "a man who identified himself as Abu Hamza al- Muhajir (also known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri) provided his take on our recent elections. Excerpts from the Associated Press article appear below:

"Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed in a new audio tape Friday to be winning the war faster than expected in Iraq and said it had mobilized 12,000 fighters who had "vowed to die for God's sake."

"On the audio tape made available on militant Web sites, the al-Qaida in Iraq leader also welcomed the Republican electoral defeat that led to the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. He added that the group's fighters would not rest until they had blown up the White House."

"We will not rest from our Jihad until we are under the olive trees of Rumieh and we have blown up the filthiest house _ which is called the White House," al-Muhajir said. It was not clear what Rumieh was referring to."

"The American people have put their feet on the right path by ... realizing their president's betrayal in supporting Israel," the terror leader said. "So they voted for something reasonable in the last elections."

"Describing
President Bush as "the most stupid president" in U.S. history, al-Masri reached out to the Muslim world and said his group was winning the war in Iraq faster than expected due to U.S. policies."

It is enlightening to read that al-Masri apparently agrees with many on the Left who think President Bush is stupid. It is also interesting that al-Masri thinks Democratic control of Congress is “reasonable” in al-Qaeda’s view. Not that it matters to them since al-Masri has now vowed not to rest until they’ve blown up the White House.

But hey, what does he know. We should probably stick our heads in the sand, ignore him and agree with Rosie O’Donnel who recently said that the terrorists are mothers and fathers, and that we just have to believe that the world is a good place! (Can anyone possibly be this clueless?)

Britain tracking 200 Islamist cells

From Douglas Farah on the Counterterrorism Blog:

"The stunning public statement by Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller that Britain's domestic intelligence agency MI5 is tracking some 200 Islamist cells with some 1,600 members who "actively engaged in plotting or facilitating terrorist acts here and overseas." shows just how deeply the Islamist groups have burrowed into their host society."

"Today we see the use of homemade improvised explosive devices, but I suggest tomorrow's threat will include the use of chemicals, bacteriological agents, radioactive materials and even nuclear technology," Manningham-Buller said."

"The scope and size of the publicly-acknowledged investigations are a tacit admission that the Blair government's attempts at dialogue with the Muslim community, largely through Muslim Brotherhood-dominated groups that have sister organizations in the United States, has not stemmed the movement toward radicalism. My full blog is here."

Nancy Pelosi and homeland security

Behind all the smiles and the illusion of bi-partisanship between Speaker Pelosi and President Bush, others are telling a different story: The following are excerpts from Insighmag.com.

"Rep. Nancy Pelosi plans to sideline colleagues who are hawkish on national security in the Democratic leadership in the House."

"Democratic Party sources said as House Speaker, Ms. Pelosi plans to block moves that would place hawks into important chairmanships. The sources said a key casualty would be Rep. Jane Harman, a six-term member of Congress who has cooperated with Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee."

"Nancy Pelosi wants total party discipline," a source in the Democratic Party leadership said. "If you played ball with the Republicans during this session, then you're not going to be given an important chair in the next session."

"There is no seniority on the Intelligence Committee,' Ms. Pelosi said. 'The leader or the speaker can appoint a whole new set of people."

"The sources said the 61-year-old Ms. Harman, regarded as the best informed House Democrat on intelligence and technology issues, angered the liberal Ms. Pelosi by supporting the Bush administration’s policies on defense issues, particularly the war in Iraq and the Patriot Act. They said Ms. Pelosi has rebuffed lobbyists in the pro-Israel community and defense industry that sought a chairmanship for Ms. Harman."

Partial birth abortion

The Supreme Court is now hearing arguments regarding the procedure known as partial birth abortion in which a baby is partially removed from the womb. The baby's head is then either crushed, or punctured.

Proponents of partial birth abortion argue that the mother's safety is the issue. If the mother's safety is really the issue, wouldn't it be safer just to remove the baby entirely and then kill it, rather than inserting a sharp instrument into the woman's vagina for the purpose of puncturing the baby's head?
Oh, but we can't do that. That would be infanticide and most people would agree that infanticide is wrong. But really, what is the difference between partial birth abortion and infanticide? Aren't we really just playing legal games? If we leave the head inside the vaginal passage we can call the procedure abortion. If we remove the head, it is infanticide. How can anyone seriously argue that it is a mother's right to kill a partially born baby?

The following are excerpts of “an article published in the Saudi daily Al-Iqtisadiyya, titled "Now Is the Time to Return to the Saudi Nuclear Reactor,”

"Two months ago Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Sa'ud Al-Faisal visited Iran and declared that international law gives Iran the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. [Likewise,] last month foreign ministers of Islamic countries met in Azerbaijan and declared that Iran has the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes."

"At present, in light of current events in the region, the time has come to renew the Saudi nuclear program. This need [derives] from the necessity for new and cheap energy sources, since countries have collapsed because they did not have cheap energy like nuclear energy. It seems that this is the appropriate time to return to the subject of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, especially as the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty supports the existence of nuclear energy programs for peaceful purposes in member nations...”
(MEMRI)."

Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia—Imagine a world in which numerous Islamic dictatorships have nuclear weapons. Adding nuclear weapons to their enormous financial resources will give them power that will make Nazi Germany look anemic by comparison.

Breaking news: Rumsfeld steps down

USA Today breaking news:

Persecution in India

The following is from an article in Compass Direct News:

"Hindu extremists yesterday forced Christians in the remote village of Bevainahalli, in the southern state of Karnataka, to bow down before Hindu deities and applied the vermilion mark to their foreheads. It was the second such incident in Chitradurga district in a little over a week."

"At about 5 p.m. on November 6, two Hindu priests accompanied by a group of 20 to 25 Hindu extremists from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its youth wing, the Bajrang Dal, entered Chitradurga district’s Bevainahalli village and knocked on every home’s door."

"Leaving Hindu residents untouched, the extremists shouted threats at those in Christian homes, ordering them from their houses to a site near the village temple. Christians who questioned why were slapped and ordered to start walking."

"When the Christians were gathered together, one of the Hindu priests, or Swami, began speaking against Christianity and told them to “reconvert” to Hinduism."

"The extremists then marched the Christians off to the village temple, forcing them to bow down before the Hindu gods and goddesses. As a mark of acceptance of the Hindu faith, the Hindu priests applied the kumkum or vermilion mark on the foreheads of the men and women and compelled them to eat the Hindu offering called prasad."

Police Inspector K.L. Krishna only watched as the Hindu extremists violated the Christians’ constitutional right to freedom of religion with this “initiation rite.”

“I ensured the safety of the Christians and personally made certain no violence took place,” Krishna told Compass. "

"The Rev. Samuel Jacob, a pastor of Harvest India who ministers in Bevainahalli, told Compass that this was the second time Hindu extremists had targeted Christians in the village. "

Democrats win

The people have spoken. The Democrats now control the House and at this hour it appears that they may also take the Senate. The next two years should be interesting, to say the least.

Radical Islam in prisons

Prison Fellowship is a Christian ministry to prisoners and their families. It helps to transform prisoner's lives, to bring them back into society as productive citizens, and to provide aid to prisoner's families and children. I just received the following e-mail from Prison Fellowship:

Dear Friend,

Right now, known al-Qaeda affiliates are filtering propaganda literature into our prisons. Yes, terrorists are recruiting right here in U.S. prisons!

Meanwhile, Barry Lynn and Americans United for Separation of Church and State are trying to shut down InnerChange Freedom Initiative - a program proven to transform lives and reduce repeat crime.

Isn't something wrong with this scenario? Shouldn't we be more concerned with removing radical Islamic literature from our prisons than removing the Bible?

A recent study on radical Islam in U.S. prisons conducted by George Washington University and the University of Virginia concluded with a recommendation to create a federal commission to investigate the issue now rather than face a crisis later.

I agree wholeheartedly, but I can't help but note an irony here: The largely unimpeded spread of radical forms of Islam through our prisons coincides with increased opposition to the one really successful antidote - that is, the spread of Christianity.

Our program works - and we have studies to prove it. IFI is the best solution to the alienation and rage that fuels conversions to radical Islam, as well as to gangs and other hate groups inside prisons.

Taking programs like IFI away, and making it hard for Prison Fellowship to operate within prison walls, leaves terrorists and other radical groups as the only game in town.
Please stand with us today against the spread of radical Islam and sign a pledge of support to keep InnerChange Freedom Initiative in our prisons (
http://www.pfm.org/generic.asp?ID=5702). Send a strong message that we will not tolerate the use of our prisons by terrorists as a recruiting ground for their misguided cause.

In His grace,

Mark L. Earley

P.S. Please sign the pledge of support today (http://www.pfm.org/generic.asp?ID=5702) and be sure to forward this important e-mail to your friends and family. It's urgent that we get the word out about this critical matter!

I went to the website of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State and found many, many articles condemning Christians for criticising Islam, but I couldn't find a single article even addressing the issue of radical Islam in our prisons. What kind of organization turns a blind eye to attempts by radical Muslims to undermine our nation, but tries to eliminate a Christian program that with a proven track record changing lives for the good?

Global warming and the U.N.

Britain’s Sunday Telegraph published a remarkably eye-opening article on global warming. The thrust of the article is that everyone agrees that the world’s climate is getting warmer, but U.N. scientists are deliberately manipulating the data for political purposes to make it look like the climate change is due to rising CO2 levels. I encourage everyone to read the entire article (which includes a link to detailed scientific calculations) but some of the less technical quotes are included below (hat tip: Kevin):

"Last week, Gordon Brown and his chief economist both said global warming was the worst 'market failure' ever. That loaded soundbite suggests that the "climate-change" scare is less about saving the planet than, in Jacques Chirac's chilling phrase, 'creating world government."

"This week, I'll show how the UN undervalued the sun's effects on historical and contemporary climate, slashed the natural greenhouse effect, overstated the past century's temperature increase, repealed a fundamental law of physics and tripled the man-made greenhouse effect."

"Next week, I'll demonstrate the atrocious economic, political and environmental cost of the high-tax, zero-freedom, bureaucratic centralism implicit in Stern's report; I'll compare the global-warming scare with previous sci-fi alarums; and I'll show how the environmentalists' "precautionary principle" (get the state to interfere now, just in case) is killing people."

"So to the scare. First, the UN implies that carbon dioxide ended the last four ice ages. It displays two 450,000-year graphs: a sawtooth curve of temperature and a sawtooth of airborne CO2 that's scaled to look similar. Usually, similar curves are superimposed for comparison. The UN didn't do that. If it had, the truth would have shown: the changes in temperature preceded the changes in CO2 levels."

Next, the UN abolished the medieval warm period (the global warming at the end of the First Millennium AD). In 1995, David Deming, a geoscientist at the University of Oklahoma, had written an article reconstructing 150 years of North American temperatures from borehole data. He later wrote: "With the publication of the article in Science, I gained significant credibility in the community of scientists working on climate change. They thought I was one of them, someone who would pervert science in the service of social and political causes. One of them let his guard down. A major person working in the area of climate change and global warming sent me an astonishing email that said: 'We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period."

"So they did. The UN's second assessment report, in 1996, showed a 1,000-year graph demonstrating that temperature in the Middle Ages was warmer than today. But the 2001 report contained a new graph showing no medieval warm period. It wrongly concluded that the 20th century was the warmest for 1,000 years."

"Scores of scientific papers show that the medieval warm period was real, global and up to 3C warmer than now. Then, there were no glaciers in the tropical Andes: today they're there. There were Viking farms in Greenland: now they're under permafrost. There was little ice at the North Pole: a Chinese naval squadron sailed right round the Arctic in 1421 and found none."

"The Antarctic, which holds 90 per cent of the world's ice and nearly all its 160,000 glaciers, has cooled and gained ice-mass in the past 30 years, reversing a 6,000-year melting trend. Data from 6,000 boreholes worldwide show global temperatures were higher in the Middle Ages than now. And the snows of Kilimanjaro are vanishing not because summit temperature is rising (it isn't) but because post-colonial deforestation has dried the air. Al Gore please note."

"In some places it was also warmer than now in the Bronze Age and in Roman times. It wasn't CO2 that caused those warm periods. It was the sun. So the UN adjusted the maths and all but extinguished the sun's role in today's warming."

"Sami Solanki, a solar physicist, says that in the past half-century the sun has been warmer, for longer, than at any time in at least the past 11,400 years, contributing a base forcing equivalent to a quarter of the past century's warming. That's before adding climate feedbacks.
The entire 20th-century warming from all sources was below 2 watts. The sun could have caused just about all of it."

"Why haven't air or sea temperatures turned out as the UN's models predicted? Because the science is bad, the "consensus" is wrong…"

Where are the moderate Muslims?

On October 26 Recliner Commentaries drew attention to a prominent Muslim leader in Australia who blamed the victim of a gang rape for her own rape. Recently an article appeared in Australia’s Herald-Sun (cited in Jihad Watch) discussing the response by “moderate” Muslims. Excerpts appear below:

"Excuses over. The disgraced mufti of Australia set Muslims a test last month and they failed.
That test couldn't have been easier: make Sheik Taj el-Din al-Hilaly pay for preaching that unveiled women invited rape."

"Prove that Muslims can't be led by a man who says raped women must be "jailed for life". Prove we have nothing to fear from your faith."

"Simple? Yet yesterday 34 Muslim groups signed a petition backing this bigot, while others plan a big rally for Sydney tomorrow, denouncing not Hilaly but the non-Muslims who criticise him."

"The results are in: Islam here -- as represented by many of its leaders -- is now a threat.
What's more: our culture of self-hate makes us too weak to properly resist." (Herald-Sun).

The author’s last comment is particularly striking. In America the Left’s relativist, multicultural, tolerance of everything but our own Judeo-Christian heritage (which they loathe), has so permeated our society that this may ultimately be the downfall of our country because in spite of all our military power—we are too weak to properly resist.

Planned Parenthood cover-up of child molestation?

Has Planned Parenthood in Kansas been covering up cases of child molestation and rape? The following are excerpts from a recent WND article:

"The attorney general in Kansas has won his courtroom battle over the medical records for dozens of abortions in his state, and says the documents appear to have concealed cases of child rape, illegal late-term abortion, rape by force or fear, incest, child sexual abuse and other crimes."

"Nobody has been willing to enforce the abortion laws against Planned Parenthood," he told WND during a recent interview. And some of the situations just screamed for attention."

"For example, when there are abortions performed on children as young as 10, by law and by definition there has been a sexual assault on a child. In Kansas a person under 16 legally cannot consent to sex, and abortions cannot be performed past 22 weeks. However, those cases simply weren't being reported, he said, even though state law requires officials who are in a position to know the circumstances to report such crimes."

Obsession: The Threat of Radical terrorism

I just watched a special on FOX called Obsession: The Threat of Radical Islam.

If you see only one TV program all week, please, please watch this show!

It is showing again tomorrow (Sunday). It should be showing at 4:00PM eastern time, and at 10:00PM eastern time.

“They’re slaughtering you like sheep”

The following are excerpts of an interview of Dr. Tawfik Hamid by Michael Coren, published in the National Post. Dr. Hamid was once a member of the terrorist group Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya. He trained under Ayman al-Zawahiri.

“Yes, 'imperialism,’ he tells me. ‘The deliberate and determined expansion of militant Islam and its attempt to triumph not only in the Islamic world but in Europe and North America. Pure ideology. Muslim terrorists kill and slaughter not because of what they experience but because of what they believe.”

“The first thing you have to understand is that it has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with poverty or lack of education,’ he says. ‘I was from a middle-class family and my parents were not religious. Hardly anyone in the movement at university came from a background that was different from mine.”

“I've heard this poverty nonsense time and time again from Western apologists for Islam, most of them not Muslim by the way. There are millions of passive supporters of terror who may be poor and needy but most of those who do the killing are wealthy, privileged, educated and free. If it were about poverty, ask yourself why it is middle-class Muslims -- and never poor Christians -- who become suicide bombers in Palestine.”

“We're not talking about a fringe cult here,’ he tells me. ‘Salafist [fundamentalist] Islam is the dominant version of the religion and is taught in almost every Islamic university in the world. It is puritanical, extreme and does, yes, mean that women can be beaten, apostates killed and Jews called”

“But I can tell you what it is not about. Not about Israel, not about Iraq, not about Afghanistan. They are mere excuses. Algerian Muslim fundamentalists murdered 150,000 other Algerian Muslims, sometimes slitting the throats of children in front of their parents. Are you seriously telling me that this was because of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians or American foreign policy?”

“He's exasperated now, visibly angry at what he sees as a willful Western foolishness. ‘Stop asking what you have done wrong. Stop it! They're slaughtering you like sheep and you still look within. You criticize your history, your institutions, your churches. Why can't you realize that it has nothing to do with what you have done but with what they want.”

You can read the rest of the article in the National Post. (Hat tip: Jihad Watch)

Operation FALCON

"Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales and U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Director John F. Clark [yesterday] announced that a seven-day nationally coordinated fugitive roundup led by the USMS and hundreds of partners from state, local and other federal agencies led to the arrests of 10,733 fugitives. Among those arrested during Operation FALCON III were 1,659 fugitive sex offenders, the largest number ever captured in a single law enforcement effort."

Good work! The Attorney General, the Marshals Service, and the various law enforcement agencies should be applauded. Here's to Operation FALCON IV, V, VI, etc.

More media bias

According to a study of the big three TV networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) by the Center for Media and Public Affairs, “Three out of every four (77 percent) on-air evaluations of Democratic candidates and members of Congress were positive during the first seven weeks of the campaign. By contrast only one out of eight assessments (12 percent) were favorable towards their Republican Counterparts.” (CMPA, See also Washington Times, Media Reality Check)

A new defense for murder

Nicholas Gutierrez is a gay man accused of “robbing, sexually assaulting and murdering” Mary Stachowicz, “a 51 year old Catholic mother of four.” Gutierrez allegedly kicked, strangled and stabbed the woman and then stuffed her body into a crawl space under his apartment. According to Gutierrez’ lawyer, “It happened because she could not leave him alone in his lifestyle.” (Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Tribune).

Apparently this lawyer thinks that anti-gay harassment is a valid defense for murder.

What? You haven’t heard this story? What a shock! A Google search for Nicholas Gutierrez produced 10 articles in Google News, 20 articles in Lexis Nexis (though only 4 were relevant), and 34 in Proquest Newspapers (not all relevant). Similar results came up for searches of the phrase “Mary Stachowicz.” By contrast, according to WorldNetDaily, when Matthew Shepherd was disgracefully murdered, over 3,000 articles covered the story in the first month alone.
