The re-arming of Hezbollah

According to Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, the re-arming of Hezbollah has already begun--once again, right unding the nose of the U.N. See the Counterterrorism Blog. Syria, of course, denies the allegations (UPI), which is exactly what we would expect from a nation that supports terrorists.

The lesson learned is that non-governmental terrorist organizations can opperate outside the law. They can attack civilians for long periods of time, then hide behind governments of the countries they operate in when a nation chooses to defend itself. The UN perpetuates this problem. They are not allowing long term resolutions to come about. If they choose to interfere they should be held accountable for ensuring a lasting peace.

This behavior reminds me of the American Revolutionary War battle tactics. The Americans frequently used guerilla war tactics against the regimented British troops resulting in greater losses for the British with fewer American troops. The UN needs to update their tactics, if they are seriously interested in peace, to deal with a changing world.
